Placement scenario and packages being offered

Students become eligible for final placements from the 4th trimester. All big companies from India and abroad visit here. The highest package offered was 1crore last year, average was around 30 lpa. 100% placements happen here.

Internship opportunities provided by the college

Excellent internship opportunities are available here. The college administration along with the placement committee makes sure that each and every student is placed here. Average stipend is 1.5 lakhs per month. All big FMCG, consulting, finance etc firms visit the campus

College events, various clubs and facilities available in campus

Annual fest is known as Manfest Varchasva. It is conducted in the month of February. All sorts of books and journals are included in the library, which is highly digitized. Classrooms have ACs, projectors in the rooms. Sports facilities are upto the mark. You can play all sorts of outdoor and indoor sports here. Upto 36 different clubs and committees are run here by the students

Total fees of the course

Fees is around 22 lakhs for the whole 2 years. Hike is decided by the college management, it is solely upto them. I am still in my first year, job will be finalized in the second year. We are going to go on our internship after which our final jobs will be decided

Students view on faculties and their teaching methods

The exposure that this course offers is amazing, along with the opportunities. Faculty is PhD qualified, teaching method is based on case studies. Term exams vary based on the faculty, but in general they are moderate to tough

Students view on hostel facilities

Room has all the basic facilities, including fan, table, chair bed, mattress. There is a centralised mess, which can be very well claimed to the best mess across all IIMs. Hostel fees is included in the tuition fees, no separate breakdown is available.

What is the admission process of the college?

Had to appear for CAT exam. Anyone who has completed their graduation or are in their final year are eligible for the exam. Application forms are released on CAT's website in the month of July. After securing a good enough percentile which depends on your category, you are called for GDPI process of each college separately. Then a final merit list is prepared .

I applied to all the top B-schools but secured interview opportunities only from IIMA and IIMC. My top choices were IIMB and IIML (and all other top B-schools). I missed my opportunity at IIMB; I believe this was due to my interview. However, I managed to convert my next best option, IIML. I joined after taking the CAT, which is a relatively easy exam compared to JEE, NEET, and state entrance exams. Securing a percentile above 95 puts you in a good position to receive at least one interview call from top colleges.

Admission:

I have gotten calls from IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode apart from IIM Lucknow. I chose IIM Lucknow for it's academic rigor and also being ranked higher than the other IIMs. The eligibility is decided through the CAT exam and one-on-one interviews. Cutoffs can be as high as 99th percentile. Admission experience is very smooth. There are some documents to get before admission. But this is usually streamlined and very easy to accomplish.

I have applied to all IIMs. I got calls from majority of them and My best convert was IIM Lucknow. My second best call was IIM Kozhikode. I got rejected from IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta. The admission process include clearing CAT exam, Giving Interview and then verifying the documents.

IIML Hel(L) that shoots you to heaven

Admission:

The foremost part is clearing the CAT . On an average a percentile of 98+ is required to get shortlisted for the interview process. A round of WAT ( Writing ability test) and personal interview follows the shortlisting. With reservation the CAT percentile required lowers down to 85+ for ABM and 92+ for MBA but after that the process is same for everyone. Application is released every year around October with a average application fee of 3000 bucks. The difficulty level is quite high thus rigorous prepration is required. Admission process is a good benchmark and as of now no improvements are required.

Here are a few parameters to assess IIM Lucknow and compare it to IIM A,B,C-

Brand- IIM A,B,C are the most renowned IIMs. But others like Lucknow are also quite reputable. The ‘IIM’ tag in itself holds a lot of prestige.

Recruiters- A handful of top recruiters visit only IIM A,B,C and leave the other top business schools. But the majority of such companies are investment banks who seek employees in the finance sector.

Peer group- Top achievers go to IIM A,B,C. However, it is unfair to neglect those who were of great caliber but fell short by a few points.

Faculty- Teachers from IIM A,B,C come to IIM Lucknow from time to time as visiting faculty.

The time spent on campus at IIM Lucknow, including academics, committees, extracurriculars, and, of course, friends and parties, is one of the most hectic periods a student can experience in the country. At IIML, you work six days a week and have projects, assignments, and exams on Sundays. So you have almost no weekends. It's the equivalent of working three months straight to earn seven days off (term break). The combination of summer heat and winter cold will give you goosebumps.

Every year, the movement of the IIM waitlists causes a commotion among students who have applied for admission to the IIMs. There are approximately 4000 seats available across the 20 IIMs. Another group of chosen candidates is kept in line after the initial list of chosen candidates is released publicly in case any candidate decides not to take a seat. The waitlist movement in IIMs and a few top MBA schools varies by category. The general category is extremely stringent, whereas the SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories have some leeway.

The waitlist is kept confidential at IIM Lucknow. The merit list is instead released to the public. To secure a spot on the merit list, a student must meet the minimum requirement of 12 out of 40 in the PI round.

Are the job profiles offered at MDI Gurgaon on par with IIMs like LIK, not ABC? How much effort does one have to put into his future to get on par with the IIM graduates if one graduate from there?

However, IIM I, K, and MDI are generally equal in terms of placements, except for a few banks that specifically seek out the IIM tag at I&K. If you work equally hard at either campus and all other operational factors are constant, you will likely end up in a similar position whether you choose MDI or I or K. However, as mentioned before, IIML still has the edge and requires more effort if you're in the finance or consulting field.

If you're interested in MDI, it's worth noting that recent placement reports show more and more prestigious finance and consulting companies are visiting the campus. This has helped MDI deliver well-rounded placements. So, if you're willing to put in the work, MDI could be a good option for you.

Why is IIM Lucknow so secretive about placement statistics, unlike other IIMs?

Unlike IIM A who reports the placement correctly and follows IPRS, every other IIM doesn’t do the same. But this secretive nature of IIM Lucknow does not conclude that it has a bad or average placement. There are few factors regarding this clause, and some of them are listed below.

The placement of IIM Lucknow is quite good. But, there are cases of mentioning increased and inflated figures in data, and average salaries are used instead of median salaries.
According to the newspapers, most of them get huge salary packages, which is not exactly true. 80% of the entire batch get good salary packages, while the bottom 20% struggle to get decent packages. This is the case across many B schools in India.
There are several factors that matter in placement, which include the number of recruiters visiting the campus, the number of big brands and new brands, the average salary of top 100-200 students, etc.

So, no detailed reports are provided from IIM Lucknow regarding their placement. Detailed information is usually received from insiders like alumni and professors, without disclosure in identity.

Admission into most of the courses is based on entrance exams like CAT / GMAT / GRE / GATE / JRF. The candidates for the executive courses can also appear for the PGPWE Entrance Test, conducted by IIM Lucknow if they have not yet appeared for any exam. The final selection into these courses is based on the exam score, Written Ability Test, Personal Interview, and academic and professional profile.

Need-based scholarships are offered by the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM Lucknow) to students whose household income is less than INR 4 LPA (lakhs per annum). The collective income of the student's income as well as that of their parents and spouse is taken into account. The scholarship can be taken away if the student doesn't do well academically. Yes, you can get a rebate on your fees if your family income is below INR 200000 per annum. Also, with good academic performance, you can avail scholarships which will reduce your fees effectively.

To be eligible for the MBA course at IIM Lucknow you must have passed your Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks or BE/ B.Tech/ Post B.Sc/ Post Diploma degree from the recognized institute. You are not eligible to apply for the course.
