Compared to other business schools apart from IIMA, it has a strong academic structure that will test you.
Keep reminding yourself from time to time why you wanted to be here, because at some point you will want to give up due to the toxic culture that comes with the competition.
It's all fun and joyous until you start giving into the toxic culture and peer pressure.

I applied to all the top B-schools but secured interview opportunities only from IIMA and IIMC. My top choices were IIMB and IIML (and all other top B-schools). I missed my opportunity at IIMB; I believe this was due to my interview. However, I managed to convert my next best option, IIML. I joined after taking the CAT, which is a relatively easy exam compared to JEE, NEET, and state entrance exams. Securing a percentile above 95 puts you in a good position to receive at least one interview call from top colleges.

Admission:

I have gotten calls from IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode apart from IIM Lucknow. I chose IIM Lucknow for it's academic rigor and also being ranked higher than the other IIMs. The eligibility is decided through the CAT exam and one-on-one interviews. Cutoffs can be as high as 99th percentile. Admission experience is very smooth. There are some documents to get before admission. But this is usually streamlined and very easy to accomplish.

Likes

The environment it provides. The ability to push your limits. The networking with your peers which will help you in exponential learning.
Brilliant faculties with industry experience.
Practical Simulation of business studies and decisions that will help in understanding the dynamics of business

Dislikes

The unhealthy competition among peers which leds to unnecessary mental pressure.
Mess food was way below average. You expect the food to be good when you are apying so much.
The college doesn't have their own transportation system .You have to rely on Cabs for transportation.

Admission:

I have applied to all IIMs. I got calls from majority of them and My best convert was IIM Lucknow. My second best call was IIM Kozhikode. I got rejected from IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta. The admission process include clearing CAT exam, Giving Interview and then verifying the documents.

Likes

The campus is beautiful . The alumni is prestigious. There are ample amenities . Mess food is relatively better .
The professors are good . Not all but some . There are good companies for placements.
There are ample Opportunities to be parts of clubs which align with your interests.

Dislikes

There is too much politics and a toxic competition.
Some of the classes are really bad and you have to sit through them.
There is a lot of FOMO. The online portals do not let us keep a track of attendance.

I applied to all IIMs ( BLACKI) and was shortlisted only for Lucknow and converted it. Apart from it I got calls from SPJIMR, MDI, IITB and IIM MUmbai . I converted all of them. I did not clear XAT or IIFT.

Mess food is not that good which was expected
There are no restaurants or hotels to eat
The campus is on the outskirts of Lucknow

Admission:

I chose this college because I wanted to pursue agribusiness management and IIM Lucknow supports one of the best agribusiness programs which is on-par with other PGP programs. The course is rigorous and gives you a holistic view

IIML Hel(L) that shoots you to heaven

Likes

Infrastructure is top notch with every facility available
A good cohort of very experienced faculty
A good ratio of theory and practical with special emphasis on practical usage of theory

Dislikes

The institute is far away from the city and thus outings are rare
Institution being in far fetched area only a few shops/store operate so a lot of monopoly and price inflation
As a common misconception there is no guarantee of placements.

Admission:

The foremost part is clearing the CAT . On an average a percentile of 98+ is required to get shortlisted for the interview process. A round of WAT ( Writing ability test) and personal interview follows the shortlisting. With reservation the CAT percentile required lowers down to 85+ for ABM and 92+ for MBA but after that the process is same for everyone. Application is released every year around October with a average application fee of 3000 bucks. The difficulty level is quite high thus rigorous prepration is required. Admission process is a good benchmark and as of now no improvements are required.

Life at IIML

Likes

Placement - The Placement scenario at IIML was amazing
Culture- The culture of academic rigour at IIML was something that pushed students to do better
Peer to Peer learning at IIML was amazing , as there were people from different backgrounds

Dislikes

Single badminton court- There could have been more badminton courts

Admission:

Cutoff for Indiant Institute of Management Lucknow was quite high and the admission process was also very strict with CAT being the clearing criteria followed by a written assesment test and a 45 Min Personal Interview.

Candidates need to score a minimum of 90 percentile in CAT to participate in the IIM Lucknow admission process for PGP courses. The cutoff for various courses at IIM Bangalore are as follows

IIM Lucknow invites candidates for WAT and PI rounds based on their composite score. Last year, the composite score was calculated by giving 60% weightage to CAT score, and 10% weightage each to class 12th percentile, graduation percentile and work experience. For final selections, WAT and PI held 10% and 40% weightage respectively. 12 out of 40 was the minimum score required to clear the PI round.

Your graduation score is a bit low but it depends on your institute too. If you are from a top college, then this score will be considered pretty good. Moreover, past academics are not the only deciding factor when it comes to admission to IIMs. You do have decent changes if selection viewing your overall profile.

As for the CAT Score, don’t set a fixed target and just aim for as high as you can. The cutoffs keep changing depending on various factors so what should remain constant are your efforts. Additionally, preparing for the interview is very crucial because it determines your chances of admission.

First of all, bear in mind that there is never a 100% certainty of getting a call from a specific interest as there are many factors that determine it.

Considering your profile that lacks work experience and has witnessed a decline in the graduation marks, I don’t consider anything below 99.9 to fetch you a call from institutes like IIM Calcutta, Lucknow, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad. All these institutes only accept the best profiles and high scores. So unless you score a perfect 100, it will be difficult to get admission here.

For the MBA-SM programme at IIM Lucknow, the general category cutoff is between the 85th and 90th percentile for admission in 2024. For admission to IIM Lucknow during the WAT-PI phase, this percentile is necessary.
