Ans. If you belong to the general category, then you won't be able to get to the next round with the 82 percentile. But if you belong to any other category like SC/ ST/ EWS/ NC-OBC/ DAP, then you can be eligible.

Ans. Your academic profile is mediocre here, but all of these will only matter if you score above the 92 percentile in CAT. The academic profile holds only about 9% of the weightage, whereas the CAT scores hold about 60% of the weightage. Also, you have work experience which can provide you an additional 9% weightage. So in spite of thinking about the academic records, just focus on your CAT results and you’ll be able to make it to IIM Udaipur.

Ans. Yes, it is tough to get into IIM Udaipur, but it is not impossible. The CAT scores matter the most, which should be above the 92 percentile. Then the performance in the personal interview is also considered which holds up to 15% weightage. The profile of the candidates, which includes academic performance, work experience, gender diversity, etc, holds about 25%.

So do your best in CAT and try to score a percentile above 92 and also prepare for the interview, if you wish to get into IIM Udaipur.

Ans. One of the reasons for IIM Ranchi and IIM Raipur being underrated even after better placement records is the lack of marketing. And the other reason could be that they are located in extremely poor economic states. 

IIM Udaipur is also located far from Udaipur city but since Udaipur is a well-known tourist destination, it is highly preferred. Also, IIM Udaipur has invested a lot in its marketing to increase its reach. 

Ans. XLRI-NCR would be a better choice than IIM Udaipur, because of the following reasons:

• The brand name of XLRI is much stronger as compared to the new IIMs. 
• The IIM Udaipur campus is still incomplete, but XLRI has a permanent campus with all the facilities.
• The placements for XLRI main campus and XLRI-NCR campuses are held together, thus no difference in the placement of both campuses. Whereas in IIMs, the top companies usually prefer the older IIMs over the new IIMs.
• Looking at the 2023 placement, the average package at XLRI was INR 32.7 LPA, whereas, at IIM Udaipur, it was INR 20.09 LPA.

Ans. Both IIM Udaipur and IIT Madras are top government institutions, but while considering MBA in Marketing, IIM Udaipur would be a better choice. This is because IIT Madras is an excellent institution but it excels in technological studies, whereas IIM Udaipur focuses alone on management studies. Also in spite of being a new IIM, IIM Udaipur has set itself apart from its competitors with excellent faculty, infrastructure, pedagogy, and placements.

Ans. It would be better to get admitted to any of these IIMs because giving one more year and sitting for CAT is a huge decision. 

If you are targeting admission into the older IIMs, then sit for CAT again, only if you have an excellent academic record. The older IIMs lay emphasis on the past academic, which can’t be changed. So if you have a mediocre past record then don’t risk it and go for IIM Rohtak or IIm Udaipur 

Ans. MDI Gurgaon would be a better choice among the two, because of its ranking, location, placements, and live projects that it offers.

• MDI Gurgaon has been ranked 11, whereas IIM Udaipur has been ranked 22^nd by NIRF 2024 for management.
• MDI Gurgaon is located in a major city, Gurgaon, whereas IIM Udaipur is far from the Udaipur main city in the Aravalli Hills.
• MDI Gurgaon has the best facilities and infrastructure, whereas the campus of IIM Udaipur is still under construction.
• The highest placement in MDI Gurgaon was INR 60 LPA, whereas in IIM Udaipur the highest placement was INR 47 LPA.

Ans. IIM Udaipur is one of the prestigious IIMs. It is among the new IIMs but has set itself apart by showing excellent placement records.

• The faculties are young, experienced, and have an excellent academic background. All the faculties have completed their studies at IIT, IIM, and top foreign universities.
• In the 2023 placements, IIM Udaipur had a 100% placement record. The average package witnessed was INR 20.09 LPA and the highest was INR 46.77 LPA.
• Some of the top recruiters that visited the campus in 2023 were American Express, Axis Bank, Goldman Sachs, HDFC Bank, HSBC, Amazon, Byjus, Flipkart, Paytm, PlanetSpark, etc.

Ans. In terms of placement, both institutes have a 100% placement record. There is not much difference in the placement package as well. XIMB has an average CTC of INR 20.03 LPA, whereas IIM Udaipur has INR 18.8 LPA. 

In such a case XIMB would be a better option, as XIMB is an old B-school with years of legacy. Also, XIMB has a strong brand presence in the industry, better than the new IIMs.

But if the candidates have been offered admission at IIM Udaipur, then the financial status is not at all an issue. The institute will assist the students to get loans for their studies and they also offer scholarships to financially poor students.
