Less on-site opportunities where students can learn first hand.

Placement Experience:

Placements are still growing comparing with older IIMs. Around half of the students got placed during the 3 day placement season. Rest got placed in the coming trimester. Usually we had 90-95 % placements even though the college reported 100%

Quality of students is sub-par. The students are not great at all. People here mostly care about other things then studies and placements
Placements are still a concern, even though they are not baad but there is a lot to work on.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements is okayish. It is not as par as the college brand. It is still considered as a new IIM, rightfully so, but the average package is around 19.5 Lakh for final placements and for summar internships its around 1.5 Lakh for combined 2 months. Highest package is around 36 Lakh and 4 Lakh for internships.

The report in question was published in 2017, and I can’t comment on its authenticity. But my brother is pursuing his MBA from IIM Udaipur, so I can tell you about the current placement scenario.

IIM Udaipur follows the IPRS standards in publishing its placement report. The report is audited to make sure of the same. In simple terms, the placement report contains information only about one year's salary of the candidates, and gives a thorough breakdown between base pay and variable pay.

Elements like ESOPs or Bonuses, that are receivable after a certain period of employment, are not mixed up with the regular pay details. IIMU does not inflate the figures when publishing its summer internship and final recruitment data.

IIM Udaipur has 305 students in the 2023 batch; around 71% of the batch included engineers and the rest 29% included students from Commerce, Science, Management, etc. Then there were 35% of freshers, including engineering freshmen and students from various other backgrounds.

Among the batch of 305 students, around 301 students appeared for the 2023 placement drive and all of them were placed. IIM Udaipur provides placement opportunities to both freshers and experienced people.

During the placement drive, some companies hire students with work experience only and some are open to hire freshers. Therefore the institute creates different batches for freshers and for students with work experience, so that both types of students can be placed.

After MBA, the students are placed in various sectors. So even if you are not from an engineering background, there are multiple job roles in sectors other than IT, Analytics and Manufacturing. I think the single most important reason why IIM Raipur and Ranchi are considered below IIM Udaipur is the lack of proper marketing. IIM Udaipur has managed to make its mark through enough marketing and promoting research culture. The IIMRs is also flawed in the sense that they are located in extremely poor economic states. This flaw overshadows all their features and the fact that they have better placement scenarios than IIM Udaipur.

Every IIM has set a certain goal and is gradually climbing the ladder to reach its level of excellence. The same is the case with IIMRs. In just a few years these two will be among the best IIMs in India.

The decision of choosing a college should be taken at an individual level. You can seek advice from others but not ask them to decide for you. Try to analyze what exactly you want from your MBA program. What is it you are seeking and how to achieve it? Once you are sure about that, college does not matter much.

Honesty both the IIMs you mentioned give an edge to each other. Still if I would have to choose one, I would go for IIM Udaipur because of its recent success stories. IIM Udaipur has seen a rise in international rankings like QS and FT. Earlier these rankings included only the top IIMs A, B and C. IIM Udaipur has proven its worth by appearing on such international rankings. It is also the youngest B-school in the “world” to be featured in the FT MiM Rankings.

IIM Udaipur is heaven for a research enthusiast. Its premium research culture is the reason for its recent rise in rankings. As far as placement is concerned, both the colleges have similar statistics. The table below has drawn a comparison between the two.

Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) got the highest placement package with 123 Offers Accepted, the top recruiters were Aditya Birla Capital, American Express, BNY Mellon, ICICI Bank, JP Morgan, and Kotak Bank. IIM Udaipur Placements 2023 final report is released. According to the report, IIM Udaipur's highest package increased by 30.13% to INR 46.77 LPA whereas IIM Udaipur's average package increased by about 12.7% to INR 20.09 LPA for the MBA batch.
