Review of IIMU-DEM Course

Likes

The college's infrastructure is extremely good. The classrooms are well suited for discussions. The class rooms are equiped with projectors LEDs.
The teaching pedagogy is case based discussions. The professors are really great and their teaching skills are amazing. The academic curriculum is rigorous.
Inclusivity and Diversity is extremely good. People from all over india from different backround, different cultures, work experience etc are admitted.

Dislikes

The mess food is average only. It is not pay per meal. If it was pay per meal it would have been more convenient.
The college is situated near aravalli hills. It is a very beautiful place visually but the city is 10-15 km away from the college and we need to travel a lot.
The reimbursement process through the student body for club activities is really time consuming.

Placement Experience:

The placement process startes from the second term in month of October. Highest package: 33 LPA Lowest Package: 15 LPA Mean and Median around 20 LPA Students getting placed is almost 100% (2-3 who dont get placed also receives support from placement department after college)

IIM Udaipur in a nutshell

Likes

The weather and facilities provided in the college
The hostel facilities like AC and single occupancy
The faculty who are very educated and qualified

Dislikes

The mess can be annoying at times and hygiene issue prevails
The location of the college which is too far from the city
The summer days are very hot and irresistible

Internships Opportunities:

The internship opportunity is very average and decent. There are very good opportunities where you can get placed in top MNC's and also there are opportunities where you can intern in the college itself under the guidance of your professsors.

IIM Udaipur - A great but incomplete place for a full time MBA

Likes

Campus life is great and always have something to enjoy
Faculties are great at IIMU as most of them are from IIMA and IIMC
Academics though challenging gives you an opportunity to learn a lot.

Dislikes

Less on-site opportunities where students can learn first hand.
Campus was still under construction so a lot was missed.

Internships Opportunities:

Over 100 companies used to come with internship program. Some of the prominant companies include ICICI, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Ofbusiness, Cognizant, DS group etc. Most of the roles were in sales and marketing and it was a two month paid project with an average stipend of 30000 a month.

Campus life is amazing. You will enjoy like nothing. These will be the best 2 years of your college and you will not forget them to the rrst of your life, People here are not that intelligent but they are fun to hangout with,
It is the best new IIM, the city is great and people come from far away to roam around Udaipur.
Academics is also good here. Even though people don't focus on it but the curriculum is good.

Dislikes

Case competition culture is not at all present. No body cares about case comms and it is a big concern for an MBA college
Quality of students is sub-par. The students are not great at all. People here mostly care about other things then studies and placements
Placements are still a concern, even though they are not baad but there is a lot to work on.

Internships Opportunities:

In terms of internships, companies like Accenture Strategy (4 Lakh), Pidilite (3L), Titan (3L), JM Financial (2L) etc comes. This is public data and its available on the website of IIM U and you can refer from there. For the fag end, the placements are bad. They get intenships for 10k, 15k and that too companies dont give after the internships. Apart from internships, live projects are floated by consulting club in IIM U

IIM Udaipur Review

Likes

The campus is beautiful and picturesque nestled in the Aravalli hills. The hostel accommodation are nice. All students get their own rooms with all the basic facilities and cleaning services.
The faculty members are extremely helpful and understanding. Always ready to guide. Many of them have vast and tremendous experience.
The course curriculum is well-designed and adds overall value in your understanding of perspectives.

Dislikes

During monsoon, the campus gets insect-prone. It can become a problem for few students.

The summer internship had 83 recruiters for different job roles. There were a diverse group of industries that took part in the process. The projects are live and the companies usually take inputs from the interns, which they use in company growth. The average stipend is 83000 per month for the year 2023 and the internship is for 2 months.

It is difficult to provide a definitive ranking of business schools as the best choice will depend on your individual priorities and goals. To determine which among IIM Udaipur, Trichy, Ranchi, and Raipur is the best fit for you, it is important to consider factors such as the curriculum and placement opportunities in your desired field, the focus on research, the availability of Students Exchange Programs and other opportunities for exposure, and the overall perception of the school.

If you have a specific field or area of focus in mind, you should look for a B-school that offers a strong curriculum and good placement prospects in that area. If you are interested in gaining hands-on research experience, you should consider schools that have a strong orientation toward research. If you are looking for opportunities to gain exposure and experience through programs like student exchange, you should consider schools with a strong track record in this area.

If you do not have a specific priority and are unable to identify a clear difference between the opportunities offered by different B-schools, you may want to consider their perception. While this can be difficult to quantify, their overall perception can impact the quality of your peers and the overall learning environment. What should be the order of choice for new IIMs, i.e. Ranchi, Trichy, Udaipur, Kashipur, Rohtak and Raipur?

Your choice of college depends on your personal preferences and interests. One college might be suitable for you but not for others. So your question is subjective and cannot be answered directly.

Every individual ranks a college depending on his own perspective and goals.

I think the best way is to contact students or pass-outs from respective colleges, collect data and then make a decision based on your research and then your preference. You can also look up the official websites of the college to collect relevant data. Find out the parameters that matter to you the most in your choice of college. Some include placements, diversity, location, batch strength, or faculty. Do your part of the research and then choose the college that fulfills the maximum boxes in your priority list.

Why are IIM Ranchi and Raipur underrated compared to IIM Udaipur even after better placement records?

I think the single most important reason why IIM Raipur and Ranchi are considered below IIM Udaipur is the lack of proper marketing. IIM Udaipur has managed to make its mark through enough marketing and promoting research culture. The IIMRs is also flawed in the sense that they are located in extremely poor economic states. This flaw overshadows all their features and the fact that they have better placement scenarios than IIM Udaipur.

Every IIM has set a certain goal and is gradually climbing the ladder to reach its level of excellence. The same is the case with IIMRs. In just a few years these two will be among the best IIMs in India.

Is IIM Udaipur that far ahead of other IIMs if we consider the global rankings?

Every ranking is done on the basis of different parameters. So we cannot define the worth of a college just by looking at one or two rankings. IIM Udaipur has been featured in both the QS and FT MiM rankings which included only the top A B and C IIMs. The QS ranking focuses on the research culture mostly in which IIM Udaipur excels at. Its excellent research contributions has brought it in the league of the top 3 IIMs. But the FT rankings do not have only research as their parameter. So we can say that IIM Udaipur indeed is worthy of its position and rankings among the top IIMs.

I converted both IIM Ranchi and IIM Udaipur. What are some honest opinions because both have almost comparable rankings and placement reports?

The decision of choosing a college should be taken at an individual level. You can seek advice from others but not ask them to decide for you. Try to analyze what exactly you want from your MBA program. What is it you are seeking and how to achieve it? Once you are sure about that, college does not matter much.

Honesty both the IIMs you mentioned give an edge to each other. Still if I would have to choose one, I would go for IIM Udaipur because of its recent success stories. IIM Udaipur has seen a rise in international rankings like QS and FT. Earlier these rankings included only the top IIMs A, B and C. IIM Udaipur has proven its worth by appearing on such international rankings. It is also the youngest B-school in the “world” to be featured in the FT MiM Rankings.

IIM Udaipur is heaven for a research enthusiast. Its premium research culture is the reason for its recent rise in rankings. As far as placement is concerned, both the colleges have similar statistics. The table below has drawn a comparison between the two.
