Dislikes

I took cuet and cut for my course varied based on different combinations and categories also admission through cuet is very haptic it's a very long process a simple mistake can ruin your whole admission process
I also disliked the administration block of my college because they do every in a very gradual manner. many time main members go on leave.
I didn't like the fact that there wasn't any sports quota for volleyball

The reality check

Likes

Nice crowd and decent canteen , however the menu is short but the food is affordable .
Well connected transportation like metro
Nice environment with diff societies that suits your interest

Dislikes

The infrastructure is very bad as compared to the other colleges in the north campus
There is only one canteen in the college which provides less options
There is no ac,s in classes and even the fans are old

Course Curriculum Overview:

I,ve heard that in english hons there are many opportunities for the placements and i wanna learn english not as a language but as a subject. The curriculum is nice with many epic , poetry , comedy , tragedy and dramas . The course can be improved if we read literature of the same time frame rather than studying one thing from 1600 and other from 1800

KMC: The college for bachelors(pun intended)

Likes

One of the things that I like is accessibility. Like everything is available near campus itself be it food, fun places, shopping centers, or anything else.
The college infrastructure is really good and there are too many places you can just sit around and chill.
The best part for me about the college is it's dogs. I just love kmc's dogs.

Dislikes

Sometimes there are very unnecessary forms you need to fill and also it gets really crowded during the fest and admission season
Everyday soome new construction work is going on in the campus which also restricts our access to some places also sometimes redirects us to a longer route

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is highly related to the real world and real world problems. And also it does prepare you for your further academic pursuits. In English honours you start reading between the lines and your understanding level increases a lot. You start seeing things different way. The timings and frequency of aur exams are fixed. They happen once in a semester and twice an year.

Campus chronicles

Likes

Faculty of my department (English) is extremely talented and well-read. All are well qualified and approachable and great teachers.
Societies offer a vast exposure to number of life enriching experiences. The ratio of boys to girls is good too, infact almost equal or more girls maybe.
Environment of the college feels safe and amicable. Opportunities for social interaction are ample.

Dislikes

Lack of basic amenities like clean water and quality food.
Lack of good infrastructure to relax and sit with friends.
Lack of an array of books in college library. Could up their library by stocking prescribed books along with updated material on each course with a broad variety.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for placements from semester 5 which is 3rd year. I'm not currently much active with regard to placement cell but I do know companies like zomata and D.E. shaw has come to our college. I'm not aware of exact figures of packages but yeah it's more than 7 lpa. Talented students do get placed in leading companies. I plan to take up government job post my studies so haven't really thought of placements but they do offer nice interships from the first year itself.

I really like the campus of the college. The way it is planned out. We have a huge campus including different blocks for arts department and science department. It has a vast library containing a number of books including a number of subjects.
The faculty of my department is really very helpful and the way they teach seem so interesting. Their aura is really approachable and we can easily take our doubts and problems to them.
The college has diverse crowd. Students from various cultures, backgrounds, societies giving a good exposure for one's personality development.

Dislikes

The maintenance of classrooms is not that up to the mark. It can be improved if the furniture is changed and a classrooms are re painted.
There is no lift for the students who are physically disabled in the science block which is a major problem that needs to be taken care of.
The wifi does not work properly in college, be it girls common room, library or any other place in the college. Which is a basic need of the students nowadays.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum could be a changed a little. The addition of these Sec, Vac,Aec is just a burden on the students. It makes difficult for them to focus on their actual core subjuects. The difficulty level of exams is moderate.. its neither that highly difficult nor that easy. Simply one needs to study in order to pass the exam. The exams are a bit lenghty though, which makes it necessary for the students to cope up with the timings in the exam.

Journey of growth in Kirori Mal College

Likes

Teaching Faculties are always there for you to tackle all types of problems.
Extra-curricular activities held regularly throughout the year.
Different people from different regions including all the parts of India.

Dislikes

Slow procedures of Administrative Office.
No trained teachers for Common Courses under the NEP 2020
Air Conditioning in Arts Block for language departments.

Placement Experience:

Final year students(Semester-5 for Three yearcourse and Semester-7 for four year course)are eligible for the campus placement. Last year about 175+ renowned recruiters visited and 172 students of diverse backgrounds secured placement offers. The highest package was of 23.05 lpa and average package was of 7.24 lpa last year which includes the profiles of Finance, Management, Marketing, Associate, Content and many more. After taking degree from this college opens various opportunities for me in the sector of Content and Journalism also for Civil Services.

Why kirori Mal College is dream college for many? A Comprehensive review

Likes

Faculty of the college is one of the best in DU and especially in English honours.College is known for its NCC.
Canteen in the college offers hygienic food at affordable prices.
Societies are good and conduct various extra curricular activities regularly.

Dislikes

The water facility is not good as the water of RO also gives a smell and often sediments came out with it.
Only few classes have A.C which is a matter of concern as in summer season it is very hard to sit in those classrooms with just few fans.
There was no auditorium as it got burned twenty years back the reconstruction started this year .

The English Department of KMC, and the campus life

Likes

I really liked the faculty of the Department of English.
The Campus of the college is also lush green with parks, grounds and lawns.
The societies of the college also do a really good job of giving exposure

Dislikes

The principal at my time was a bit strict.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum was updated every now and then, making sure that you are studying literature and books from all across the world, by all kinds of writers from different countries. Women writers, literary theory, dalit writers, translation, british literature, and a lot more is taught.

Kirori Mal College: the gateway to my DU Dreams

Likes

Professors of English Department are really good. Faculty is top notch, one of the best in Delhi University.
The fests and seminars in college are really good with many respected dignitaries like Dr. S Jaishankar being invited for talks.
The crowd of the college is really welcoming and safe. As a girl, you will never feel unsafe in the college.

Dislikes

Infrastructure could be much better, especially in terms of AC classrooms.
Canteen is decent but could be improved a lot more.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose English because I've always been into reading and novels. The NEP curriculum is a bit fast-paced and lacks some important basics required for the holistic approach toward my subjects. The additional courses are useless. But overall, our college offers really great faculty who go out of their way to make you understand the subject for what it is. Hence, I think it's a good experience.

A beautiful experience: KMC

Before starting, I would just like to say coming to KMC was one of the best decision of my life. I love the infrastructure of the college. The hallways are beautiful, the bathrooms are clean, the lawns are spacious and just what not.
The faculty of the college if great. Of course there are one of two teachers whom you may not like, but some others are able to make you see past them.
The location of the college is appreciated. The back door of the college opens right in the middle of Kamala Nagar and just makes it so easy for you to have fun with your friends. The front gate connects you with the rest of the north campus.

Dislikes

When I entered the college, I really disliked the lack of auditorium in the college. However, thankfully, the college has started the renovation of the auditorium and is expected to be in usable conditions by next year.
I personally dislike the girls common room. It is quite small especially with the lates change through renovation. Whole the room itself is not satisfactory, the washrooms are beautiful and ever so clean. The mirrors further add a nice touch to it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love my course. The course is much more than what you may assume. Majoring in English is not just about reading novels but also about understanding the different historical, religious and political context too. What we learn most of the time is the context behind writing a particular text. The curriculum allows us to be radical in our thinking and find our own beliefs. The exams happen at the end of every semester and are of moderate difficulty.

Kirorimal college; through the eyes of an insider

Likes

Faculty, the English department faculty of KMC is well qualified and very chill. They enhance not just the learning experience but also the growth and development of one as a person.
The student community. KMC being one of the top colleges in the Delhi University has highly qualified student community with varied interests
Socities and opportunities. The college socities and clubs provide amazing opportunity to bring about overall holistic development of students and make college life fun and exciting.

Dislikes

Infrastructure, kmc infrastructure is not bad but considering its status and rankings , I expected a better college campus.
Construction work, the college is often under construction, making it a little difficult to flow through college life.
Unavailability of hostels for women. KMC provides hostel facilities only for male students while it should be available for female students as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As a literature enthusiast, B.A Hons. English is the perfect course for me. The course is all about literature and various aspects of it. Studying about the historical background and the way literature affects us is a lot of fun and exciting.
