Course Curriculum Overview

4

Literature covers a wide range of subjects asude from just stories. It covers majorly polity and history and a little bit of economics. It is a course that could instill a capacity to read between the lines in the course taker. It serves well for real world applications if you aim to go further in the arena of literature. Teaching methods are great but the curriculum could be more wide ranged. As per the NEP structure, assignments and tests and other such assessments take up a lot of time which could be used to invest more in the other areas of the study of the course. As far as the difficulty level is concerned, it's manageable as it should be.

Internships Opportunities

3

Companies like Spehre and others do offer internships in various areas like HR, graphic designer, content writer, copywriter, business development intern, marketing, PR, business analyst and many others roles which enriches our college life experience and aid in building CVs.

Placement Experience

3

The students become eligible for placements from semester 5 which is 3rd year. I'm not currently much active with regard to placement cell but I do know companies like zomata and D.E. shaw has come to our college. I'm not aware of exact figures of packages but yeah it's more than 7 lpa. Talented students do get placed in leading companies. I plan to take up government job post my studies so haven't really thought of placements but they do offer nice interships from the first year itself.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yearly fees for general category on an average is 12000 exclusive of examination fees and Examination fees is around 1000 each semester whereas fees for reserved category is less by 400 on an average (both yearly and examination). As for PwDs it's much lesser, around 300-400 yearly fees and no examination fees whatsoever. Scholarships are all for reserved category and hardly or no scholarships for general category.

Campus Life

5

Kmc holds a numberof fests and events throughout the year so there's never a dull day. Majorly, departmental fests and society specific fests starts from February and goes on till atleast April and the major highlight is that the annual fest of the college, Renaissance, is held during this time only. Throughout the year, various societies host an array of events offering students and opportunity to interact with others and also inculcate different enriching experiences and learn something new at every step. Kmc's enabling unit, prayas, is the most active one in whole of the DU. It has got several facilities like accessible books and audio books and tactile paths, among othersids, to help PwD students. The classrooms too are improving with new and comfortable seats. The college is well active in sports area as well like it has won various medals in badminton and tennis and others sports. It has got a gym which all students can access. Societies like Dakshi was started by a student from our college which is working relentlessly towards unveiling the hidden gems of Indian knowledge and preserve its culture while being on the path of innovation.

Admission

I applied to various colleges but KMC was in my top 3 priorities because it has got an amazing English department with a well-read, well- qualified dedicated professors. I froze my seat in KMC since I got it in first list only and never upgraded to go to another college because KMC too has got a nice reputation, good environment and qualified teaching staff. The college now accepts admissiond through Cuet for both UG and PG and the cut off atleast for general category in the first list is around 97%.

Faculty

5

We do have enough professors to impart quality education. Most of the Professors are friendly and approachable and encouraging. Professors like Rudrashish sir, dhananjay sir, Sunjay, Soumya ma'am, Someshwar sir, Deb sir, Tara ma'am, shweta ma'am and many more are amazing professors who are always there to help their students out. A professor from political science department is extremely arrogant, who keeps on insulting students and decreases their confidence and morale. Her focus is more on insulting and posing herself as the supremely intelligent one I stead of her job which is teaching. The exams are standard and doesn't pose a challenge in clearing them. However, I feel the course curriculum's quality has been hampered slightly and it has dropped but overall it's nice.

Night Life

3

The college itself has got gym facility in the sports ground. The library is open till late so that students can study well. There are multiple hangout spots like lawns of Delhi school of economics or sudama ki chai or vishwavidyalaya food items or Kamala nagar for shopping and lio smacking food along with cafes. Hudson lane is nearby north campus in GTB Nagar and is an attraction point with high end cafes. Kmc has got only boys hostel so girls reside around the campus in PGs or flat dwellings. The campus seems safe for a night walk but maybe not late night.

Placement Experience:

placement and internship fares are regularly conducted on campus where various companies which are mostly start-ups visit to recruit students for internships and entry level roles. Students become eligible for internships from the first year itself. placement opportunities are generally available after the completion of the full degree and only final year. Students are eligible to apply for full-time rules. last during our last internship and placement fair over 20 companies visited and recruited almost 150 candidates. There are no separate records distinguishing internship from placement. The highest package reported for economics honours is around 12 lakhs per annum and the average package is approximately five lakhs per annum. As per my future plans,I intend to pursue a masters degree after completing my undergraduate course.

For USME, FMCG and Financial companies are the ones which are put in place. The only reason is that those are the companies where we can add value and placements of both courses of USME happens together and combined if I say around 75% students are placed. My plan though is to join GIPE after my graduation ends this year.

DTU because East campus is more known for USME placements revolve around us. Now core companies of our sectors are the ones that deals with finance, insurance or stocks. So nearly 20-30 companies of that space or sector hires over 100 students of BAE every year.

Many companies come as ever since USME has been installed at the east campus the tie-ups with the brands happened before that. So we were etaught accordingly the war corporate wanted us and that is how this has been done with solid precision and thus our placements have never jolted.

Our college has a very active and effective placement cell. Major companies like Goldman Sachs, Bain among many others come on campus for not just placements but also internships. Average and Median packages are between 8 and 10 lakh per annum, with highest packages going up to 25 lakhs. Many also go for postgraduate education, such as MBA after CAT, or to reputed colleges like the DSE for MA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .
