BA is a 3-year undergraduate course that enables students to engage with the human experience, from the ancient world to contemporary media, from political philosophies to philosophical issues. Once a student clears 12th (any stream) with a minimum of 45%–60%, they can take admission in BA courses in subjects such as English, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Geography, Economics, and so on. The course develops the capacity to think critically, write, communicate, analyse, and comprehend society and culture.

The full form of BA is Bachelor of Arts (BA). There are two types of BA courses: BA General (wide-ranging across all subjects) and BA Honours (single subject in-depth, i.e., BA English Hons.). It is usually admission through CUET (Common University Entrance Test) to all central and state universities (e.g., Delhi University, BHU, JNU, Allahabad University), but some private colleges have separate entrance tests or take admissions based on Class 12 marks. Math and Science are not needed for BA, and students of any stream can apply. The average fee for the course is INR 10,000 to INR 1.5 lakh per year, depending upon the college.

Post BA, students can pursue numerous career opportunities: take postgraduate courses like MA, MBA, MSW, LLB, or take competitive exams like UPSC, SSC, State PSCs, NET (for teaching/research).

Fees and Financial Aid

The addmission is through CSAS counselling and when you're alloted a college you have to pay a lock amount of ?10000/- which is adjusted in the college fees when you finalize your admission, after that, the college itself has a yearly fee of ?10100/- approx. and every semester you have to register yourself for DU examination which costs another ?1000-1100/- per semester, so for the whole year your have to pay about 12500/- as fees, this includes all the fees. This is the same for students of every category and a scholarship is available for students whose family income is below 8 lakh per year, provided by the University of Delhi supposed to refund the fees of the whole year but it's very unreliable and most of the people I know including me got 1-2 thousand rupees only instead of the whole fees as promised.

Campus Life

There's not much campus life, the campus is very small, most of the students either hangout outside the canteen it has a mid sized sitting area and the football cum cricket cum volleyball field. It also has a good basketball court and Table Tennis room. But the crowd is very good and the societies are very active and you get lots of opportunities to go to various DU colleges for events, the societies are always hosting some or the other small fests, there are fests every few days which makes the whole college very festive, it's great, just the small campus is the only drawback. Library is good and decently equipped, though they could do much better.

Fees and Financial Aid

Ewing Christian College (ECC) offers an affordable fees structure for most of the courses, professional and vocational courses excluded. For Bachelors in Arts (B.A.) I paid fees in yearly system and it was somewhere around 7500-8000/year. It included everything the tuition fees, caution fees, admission, labs, and every other fees. Basic fees is same for almost every student, there may be some concession for chistian minorities and some specific categories. Students may get almost every UP and National Scholarship. Students can also get NCC, Olympiads, sports, university games and every other scholarship there is to get.

Faculty

Faculty to Student Ratio is : 5-10 teachers per department aka 150 students, teachers are approachable and super helpful with genuine queries I loved the Department of Psychology, as psychology student I spent most of my time in psychology department, teachers are super helpful and understanding. There are Main semester exam: 1 Exam/Paper, other than that there is an internal assesment exam almost a month before the semesters.

We used to have annual sports and Mzu sports and we randomly get champion. There's not that much featival but the festival we have give me much enjoyment like custom festival club velatival there is a lot. There is a lot of books and journals in the library. In the classroom we used projector for class teaching and give us a good solutions in every Topic we studies. Sometimes teachers give us rest time with a movie.Sports person and singer have a chance to get into the college with their sports qualifications without their promotion results and we have a lot of sportsman and siger. There is a lot of clubs like culture, adventure, journal etc This club gives us a lot of improvement in social life and reduced us from have depression and anxiety.

Faculty

20-30 students per faculty. The faculty keep best familiarity with the students and they always keep open for every students problem. They were approachable and always willing to clarify doubts. Professor Bialzuali was and exceptional teacher who made complex concepts easy to understand. I like the most Professor Biakzuali(Head of Sociology) and highly recommend for everyone.I don't like History department faculty because Professors have less smilinh face and they are low key. There are 2 exams in every Year, easy for hardworking and a little bit difficult for careless students. High curriculum with skills and development, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity.

The faculties teaches us very well by giving us practical examples according to course curriculum in the class. They are experienced in GIS, Remote sensing, and urban planning. Supportive with industry ties and research projects. The course structure includes all the branches ofthe Geography subject with interdisciplinary subjects including core, electives and practical courses. The exams are: Internals having 30% weightage Semester examination having 70% weightage And there is a grading system for results, which is having 10-point scale system. The exam levels are not very much difficult. My Favourite teacher is Dr. Shikha Dutta mam, who is always being their as our mother. In our class almost everyone is passed. The courses are very much relevant to the curriculum and the courses of the curriculum also comprises of the topic which we have to study for any competitive exams.

Faculty and student relation are very good they give us guidance like mother to there child in every aspect of life. Now comes I liked my both faculty of political science- Gurjeet Kaur or History- Shivani Dixit now you are curious to know why I liked both not one only because of their teaching style and care and love both give us. One is strict from outside but at the time she is soft from inside like ???? coconut and she loves us so much this she do only to make our future like sky this is our history faculty. On the other hand our soft and loving teacher which is always ready to help us and she always guide me and motivated me to participated in speech competition. My both faculty help to make me today what I am now so big Thank you and love from my heart. They are reachable any time you want they are ready to guide you with love and care. Now comes to exam in B.A courses there is sesmeter according to year there happens two sesmeter in a year according to that exam fees are taken. Now at last about difficult of paper depends on your efforts and hard work. My advice will be to listen to the faculty and do the hard work and by doing your part of effort you will see the results also. At last rest leave all your worries on God and smile and do your job.

Our college has great faculties ..and our principal Ma'am is such a wonderful madam I have seen in my entire life. Well fees of BA is 8000 per year as well as at the time of admission we are suppose to pay nearly 700 rupees for admission form. there will be no other extra charges taken from anyone and this fees remain same for each one of us. if u are unable to pay full fees at a given date. You can pay in installments that is such a great facility which our college provide us. Well I am from general category and I have got 8000 rupees every year by applying for scholarship and same for other category students too. there is no partiality in any respect towards students here.

Faculty

Faculty members are most experienced, well behaved and maintain a friendly attitude towards students. Teachers provides us notes as well as sources nd there own books to help students during examinations. Ques. How is life at JNU for MA students? Is it only hectic or do students have fun too?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 04 Jul 23

Ans. My friend pursued his M.A. from JNU and according to him, he spent the best years of his life at JNU. He went to many well-renowned colleges and universities in the USA, however, JNU is unparalleled. At JNU, you will learn even when you are having fun. Female students feel safe on campus. Male students are respectful towards their female counterparts. There are no whistles or cat-calling incidents on campus. Females can walk fearlessly from one end of the campus to the other, even at midnight.  Life for M.A. students is very hectic at JNU. It is more challenging than one can expect. If you do not maintain a healthy work-life balance, you will end up spending all your time sitting in a corner with your laptop and books. Even your group discussions will end up being solely about studies. If you feel that it will be difficult for you to create a healthy balance between studies and enjoyment, you can join JNU as a Ph.D. student rather than as an M.A. student, you will then get more time to enjoy and experience life at JNU.Read more

Ques. Can I apply for LLB after graduating B.A through IGNOU correspondence study?

● Top Answer By Devraj Mehta on 03 Nov 22

Ans. The eligibility criteria for various universities vary. Because IGNOU is a recognized university, you can certainly apply for admission to pursue LLB if you take the CET. The Bar Council of India does not recognize law degree programs completed through distance education, so IGNOU does not offer 3-year LLB, BA LLB, BBA LLB, or LLM programs. It should be noted that no entrance exam is required for IGNOU law programs (except for Ph.D. in Law). Candidates must simply register for IGNOU law programs by completing the application form and submitting their application fee, as well as the course fee.Read more

Ques. What is BPP from IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Alok Thakkar on 21 Oct 22

Ans. The full form of BPP is Bachelor Preparatory Programme. Some important details of the course are as follows: Maximum duration  6 months Minimum duration 2 years Course fees INR 1000 Minimum age 18 years Maximum age No limit  The best part about the program is that it is eligible for almost everyone. No formal qualification is required for this course. BPP at IGNOU is specially designed for the ones who are willing to get a Bachelor's Degree from IGNOU but lack the required qualification i.e., passing 10+2. Because of this lack of qualification the students who haven’t passed 10+2 cannot apply for higher education anywhere. Ques. Is there a semester system in IGNOU for BA courses?

● Top Answer By Anil Karki on 28 Oct 22

Ans. No, there is no semester system in IGNOU for BA courses. In IGNOU students are enrolled in two cycles (January and June). The submission of assignments and TEE (Term End Examination) is scheduled once a year. Although assignments can be submitted only once a year, there is a high chance that if you fail to appear in May or December TEE, you can appear for that particular subject on another cycle. For example, you enrolled in this course in 2021. If you wish to appear for June 2022 TEE, you are required to submit the assignments by March 30 2022. If you fail to appear or pass the TEE, you can appear for the same exam in December 2022.Read more

Ques. Is it a good idea to graduate from IGNOU while simultaneously preparing for UPSC CSE? Exactly how tough is it to get a BA degree from IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Saurabh Mishra on 10 Nov 20

Ans. Indira Gandhi National Open University is a public university approved by NCTE and AICTE. It offers a number of open learning programs and is well known and recognized among a number of different organizations like the Association of Indian Universities, therefore, doing a B.A. degree from here is a good choice. The following points highlight important aspects of obtaining a B.A degree from the institute. Academics: The BA degrees at IGNOU offer a wide variety of core disciplines in subjects like Economics, Sociology, and Public Administration with a lot of the course work overlapping with UPSC preparations. The exams for the coursework are also designed such that they benefit the student if they are appearing for other exams like UPSC. IGNOU is known for its well-founded courses that ensure the best interests of the student. Depending on if one plans to choose a distance learning or open course degree, one can choose to appear for UPSC. BA degree from IGNOU: Obtaining a BA degree from the university depends upon if you are a part-time student at the institute or committed to full-time study. The former situation might be a little tough on the student. Students are continuously evaluated with assignments, marks from which are counted for the final result. Assignments carry a weightage of 30% of the total result. Students are barred from appearing for end term examinations if they miss an assignment. The major evaluation component is the term-end evaluation system which carries a total of 70% weightage. These exams are conducted twice a year. Students are expected to study from the course material provided and answer accordingly to the point. Most importantly, ensure that one is registered for the exam, failing which results are not declared. In conclusion, you can definitely prepare for the UPSC CSE at the same time as your BA degree. While it is not very tough to clear the BA degree, a habit of regular study will definitely help one obtain it with a good result.Read more
