IAS Officer Salary after 7th Pay Commission

The compensation of IAS Officers is now determined by the consolidated PA levels systems in which the 7th Pay Commission has replaced the Pay Grade for Civil Services. Only the basic pay is considered in the new payment scheme along with allowances like HRA, TA and DA. 

IAS Officer Salary: HRA, TA and DA

The allowances that IAS Officers receive are based on the city they are posted. HRA is provided to those who do not have an official accommodation provided by the government. TA is provided for transport purposes and DA is provided to offset the inflation. Cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs are considered in the X category. Cities with a population between 5 - 50 lakhs are considered in the Y category. Z category consists of cities with a population below 5 lakhs. DA is revised twice a year. The salaries of IAS and IPS Officers are mostly the same. The salaries depend on the position of the officer and their seniority. The highest monthly salary of INR 2,50,000 for an IAS Officer is of Cabinet Secretary while for an IPS Officer, it is for DGP.

For IFS Officers, the compensation starts between INR 15,600 to INR 39,100 unlike IAS Officers, whose compensation ranges between INR 56,100 to INR 2,50,000.
