Fees and Financial Aid

I saw this college from college dunia website and applied to it very beautiful and calm campus everything is perfectly available here any course which you want to pursue. Assistant professor and teachers staff is very good and well behaved Now talk about college fees it is very low like if we pay semester wise then it is only 3000+ only very affordable. I'm pursuing BA from this university. all subjects and courses are available here. all courses department professor are here. fests and programs are held every year. sports and all types of game matches are held here. everything is perfect.

Course Curriculum Overview

Specific aspects of the curriculum prepares for us in real world applications are very good but in our campus many departments are not so good and understandable.... students do nothing and profesor do complaint against students that they doesn't attend the classes and in our attendance doesn't matter no one come in college to attend the classes

Campus Life

The fests that are most popular at St. Xavier's College are Malhar the flagship fest of the college in August, Janfest - the Indian Music Group fest in January, Ithaka - the English Department fest in February, Zephyrus - the BMS Department fest in November, Vividha - Ancient Indian Culture Department fest in February, etc. The library at St. Xavier's College is very famous for it's vast collection of books from across decades and it's wide level of accessibility for students, as well as the infrastructure is quite beautiful and several tv shows and movies scenes have been shot there. Almost every classroom has a projector screen to facilitate audio visual learning. The classes for BA and BSc do not have air conditioning but classes for BScIT, BMM and BMS have air conditioning, which is added to their yearly fees. There are specific rooms made for audio visual lectures such as the MMR, SCAVI and HERAS Mezzanine. There is giant football and basketball court right in the middle of the quadrangle as well as a volleyball and badminton court near the college foyer. There is a gym with a lot of equipment for the students to use as well as ample space for students to practice various sports and team games. Student run groups include the Extra Curricular Committee ECC, All India Catholic Union Federation AICUF, Social Service League SSL, Student Inclusion Cell SIC, Student Council, Student Support Group SSG, Marathi Vangmay Mandal MVM, etc. I was part of two of these groups and they helped me grow as an individual, it gives students a lot of exposure to develop interpersonal skills and confidence as well as makes them feel like they belong somewhere, fostering a sense of solidarity among the students.

Faculty

The faculty members are a bit less as compared to the number of students in a particular course. For example the history department only has two professors and the Hindi department only has one professor. This might lead to increased strain and workload on these faculty members. The course structure for BA includes six semesters with two CIA (Continuous Internal Assessment) exams per semester and one end semester exam per semester. Depending on the course the marking schemes and the difficulty of the exams differ. Mostly everyone passes but a few students do end up with KTs. But as far as I know the course curriculum is very relevant. The best department in my opinion is the Sociology department, but I may be biased because I am from that department. But the teachers are very sweet, enthusiastic and approachable people who excel at their jobs. Second best department would be the Psychology department faculty. They are also very kind-hearted and fun to work with. A department that I dislike would be the Economics and Statistics department, the faculty there is known to be very cold and detached from their students. As for the rest of the departments they are pretty okay. The BSc departments also don't have a great reputation at Xavier's.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees kept decreasing throughout the year's first it was almost 6000 the almost 3000 now almost 2000. I come under sc cast that's why it was only 6000 The first year then the second year I Was on sports scholarship but due to some disagreements with the college I dropped out of sports but luckily my research paper got selected and I got an academic scholarship for third year. Well I'm still of provitional admission for third year as I have a backlog in my first sem. When it comes to the exams fees stuckture. We have to pay upto ?150 per subject and well there are 6 so year something around 750 because it excludes compulsory subjects. Late fees upto ?500 per month delay are added. Backlog fees are twice the price of a normal subject.

Campus Life

My first year I made a mistake on not focusing on my studies and spent all my time on other activities like participating in street play, making decorations all around the college for fests and some other leadership roles. It was fun. The second year I got an internship outside and only came to college for the exams but I was in touch with my professors and kept updated. In the summer vacation after second year, our department went for a study tour to NIMHANS and then to Coorg for fun. After we came back me with other 3 girls write our first research paper and mine is getting published by ugc in 2025. In October of third year I joined the theatre club with is another awesome experience I'm having in my college.

Faculty

The faculty is very nice .It offers a face to face interaction with the teachers or can call anytime to ask about doubts and questions regarding the topic taught or to be taught. For me ,I like the sociology faculty the most as it is an emerging social science and it deals with most of the social science. I think maths has the best faculty. They have more students,a seperate big smart classroom and many experienced teachers There is only the semester end exam and if one opts for science, they would have to appear for practical exams

Course Curriculum Overview

It is related to my UPSC exam preparation so there was no second thought on choosing this course. Well,it deals with almost all the social sciencesso you are getting the full package. It prepares a basic knowledge about all the social sciences I would like to include medicinal sociology in my course The exams are conducted every 6 months and the exam is at intermediate level so, for passing the exam, you will have to hav atleast the daucs of the subject

Faculty

The course was divided in 3 years.... Each year has different syllabus and at april or may exam will be held along with 2 years of subsidiary exam and 3rd year is only honours exam which was 4 paper and 1 paper of GS ... You have to write as much as you can... They dont see the body just count the number of pages you filled

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is little out dated if you wanted to do master in it you have to crack CUET PG and in which you will lag so you need to study the books of IGNOUS or DU to get an overall view but some books still give you enough notes.. But the syllabus i feel is little outdated with little less sociologist included

Faculty

We had 3 faculties for approximately 60 students. And we had a pretty good relationship with them as well. They were very approachable and easy to talk with and share ideas. We had about 2 internals for each semester on 6 papers which differ for different semesters and 3 final semester exams. Internals where pretty easy but semester exams where ones we had to work on. And not more than 5 or 10 failed in our class.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is a bit outdated if I say but we can't blame them because the subject is such as well. The real world application to the paper is very limited but the insights and ideas we learn form learning some of the portions can be applied in the society.

Department of sociology faculties are really helpful and the student teacher relationship is a 10/10 here. They are really approachable. I would like to mention our dearest HOD Dr Badhriya Beegum and our teachers Dr Mohamed Musthafa K T and Dr Shilujas M who helped me during college days. Every sem we had main exams and internal exams as well for each subject and difficulty levels are medium and about 1 or 2 might fail the exams but they do clear all the supplys as well . Fees and Financial Aid

I joined in aided program, so for tuition it's around 6000-7000?per year. and we had to pay exam fees separately for each semester that was around 1500-2000?. Also we had student welfare club called manavar mandram which acted as intermediater between the management and students for that each year they collected around 300-500each semester and they conducted culturals with that and more. Also we had a compulsory online course submission which is affiliated with swayam nptel courses which costed around 1000-2000? depends on the course

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio was really good, we didn't face any lack of staff for the classes probably around 20:1 The exams were conducted as CA exams and main semester exams, CA exam scores are converted into internal marks and the semester exam question paper and everything is provided by the bharathiyar university

Ques. How do I prepare for the BHU BA (Hons.) in social science entrance exam?

● Top Answer By Sayanti Shome, on 11 Nov 21

Ans. One of my friends studied at Banaras Hindu University (BHU). According to him, BA social science entrance exam demands you to be knowledgeable in the field of humanities.  All you have to do is cover the current affairs section very well and along with that keep an eye on the previous year's questions. Some questions include topics on psychology or philosophy. For this, you don't have to go through the topics elaborately. You can solve previous year's questions to get a general idea. These are a must to pass BHU BA Social Science entrance examination.  For current affairs, you can keep yourself updated by reading newspapers and magazines. This will improve your vocabulary and writing ability. Knowing history will also be helpful. So prepare accordingly.Read more

Ques. What is DUs syllabus for BA Humanities and Social Science Admission test?

● Top Answer By Sneha Paul Sam on 12 Oct 22

Ans. To begin, one must mentally prepare to continue reading newspapers every day and attempting to comprehend editorial opinions and social issues. It would be beneficial to read some philosophy books based on your own understanding, thereby increasing your ability to think about society in terms of how well-educated people perceive women, girls, and people's difficulties. A good understanding of General Studies and your 12th-class texts from the Arts field is required.  The entrance exam is not based on math, reasoning, or English; rather, it is based on your social background, as well as your opinion and mindset. This entrance has only 20 or 30 seats. So be cautious, and good planning will ensure your success.Read more
