A vast number of events are held year round, the major one being our annual fest NEXUS, which is quite unmatched by any other college in the Delhi radius. And quite some societies are also prevelant here, which the students actively join based on their interests.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course, because I have an interest in mathematics and statistics, and I believe that this field could have led me to my desired career, which is in the field of consulting the curriculum for my course is a bit outdated and sometimes a bit irrelevant as it is based on a lot of theory, which is not a prerequisite of statistics, but mostly it does teach you a lot about the different models that we need in order to use statistical modelling in the future. I think an area in which this curriculum can be improved is in the field of providing us with more practical knowledge than theoretical knowledge. Exams are spaced throughout the year in a convenient manner and do not create a lot of pressure on the students. The amount of practical examinations is something that I believe should be decreased. However, internal and external examinations are conducted at the correct time. The difficulty level of the internal examination is sometimes greater than the difficulty level of the external examination, which I think should be improved.

Campus Life

A face called Nexus is carried out annually on our college campus, which is one of the it's generally held in the month of February March. A lot of books and resources are available in the library for use for students and are easily accessible as well. Societies and student run club culture in Sri Venkateswara College is quite robust and we have a lot of opportunities to join varieties of societies and cater to each and everyone's individual interests and also focus on career growth using practical skills. At the same time, there are different quotes and fields available for sports and extra curricular activities and facilities for basketball, cricket football are provided on campus, et cetera..

Fees and Financial Aid

during my undergraduate studies in statistics at Sri Venkateswara College University of Delhi, I paid approximately 26,000 per academic year towards institutional fees. This amount included tuition fee, admission and registration charges, development fee, laboratory fee, applicable to science courses, examination fee, student welfare, and library charges along with the refundable caution security deposit. The overall fee structure at the University of Delhi has shown a gradual upward trend over the years due to revisions in University level charges and development related components. However, during my year of admission, the total payable fees for remain close to 23,000 annually.

Placement Experience

Sri Venkateswara College does have an active placement cell that engages with the companies to bring the recruitment opportunities to campus for undergraduate classes. Average package has been 5.5 lakhs and the highest package has gone up to 22 lakhs per annum number of Offer as per 2025 is 213 and 44 companies had visited, including Deloitte and Accenture. The college also frequently organises internship, fairs and events where students can connect with companies for short-term and project based roles internship participation tends to be stronger than formal placements, and many student secured internships that later help them in full-time job sectors

Faculty

The faculty and student relationship is overall fine , some teachers are really polite and helpful on the other hand there are a few who just are frustrated for some reason and don't bother , they don't give attendance even after one attends their lecture, they don't want to solve doubts and they just waste time mostly.

Campus Life

There's nexus that happens annually. The range of books is great to be honest, caters to the needs of the students. Overall sitting areas might need some work and volleyball court needs to be there. Their can be a weightlifting community in venky , something different and new for students who are interested.

Faculty

The students to teacher ratio is fine and the teachers are always present for doubt solving or extra doubt classes , the faculty I liked was Professor Mukti Kant , the teacher was always present, he used to solve doubts of not only his subject but the other teachers aswell, he is old but full of energy when it comes to teach students , there is no particular faculty I didn't like though some teachers were there who used to be absent or cancel class after the class scheduled time , there are majorly 2 exams of each paper one is the mid sem. And the other is practical + end sem exams. From the stats department not many student fail the papers ,the course are relevant to the practical world

Placement Experience

From 5th semester student are eligible to sit for campus placement . The placement cell of Sri Venkateswara College is good and brings some big names like big 4 for placement The highest package was around 24+LPA and average is around 7-8 LPA for a variety of courses . I plan to start working after my degree and have plans to pursue masters after some work experience

Fees and Financial Aid

For my first and second semester I paid 9050 rupees. This includes all the admission fees and my tuition and registration fees including labs fees also. I forgot the other but for the fees structure they have two-two column for art(no labs and labs), science ( lap and non labs) and for self financing course. They have different different fees account to this.

Course Curriculum Overview

As per current trending situation I choose statistics as my department. Our department give us a Microsoft excel course as sec course. In teaching I need the notes should be provided in form of pdf to every student. The timing of exam is good I want to say it's excellent.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum was a major factor that influenced my decision to choose this course, as it is well-structured and offers a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. The syllabus covers essential concepts in a systematic manner, starting from the basics and gradually advancing to more complex topics. The inclusion of practical sessions, assignments, and project work made the course appear relevant and aligned with current academic and professional requirements. This thoughtful design assured me that the course would help in developing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and subject clarity, which are important for both academic growth and career development.

Internships Opportunities

Companies that have recruited or partnered with Cotton University include major names like TCS, RBI, HDFC, ICICI, Indian Oil, and FMCG companies, alongside various IT giants, with some also signing MoUs for industrial training like the Asrotex Group, focusing on placements and student development. IT Sector: TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), IT Giants. Banking/Finance: RBI (Reserve Bank of India), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank. FMCG: FMCG companies. Energy: Indian Oil.

Faculty

Well actually according to the university we must have maximum of 30 students and so we have 28 students now . Must be mentioned that the professors are really helpful and though strict which is good . The major , minor classes are better but the MDE , SEC classes needed some improvement for student's better understanding. The mid sem and end sem exams reach up to a level harder if not studied efficiently or else if studied then it's upto moderate . According to me , Statistics has a very major role in the future

Course Curriculum Overview

I choosed the course as I actually liked it coz I have studied it in class 11 and 12 and want to study more in the field of data analytics. But here we didn't get much exposure to real world applications as we just ended our first sem but expect to get more in future . We also want immediate internships such that we can work on our skills so far as possible. We get less time to study for the exams as the course is vast but exams reach near but if studied in a daily basis routine, one can cop-up with it

Fees and Financial Aid

For BSc (Statistics) Honours in Sri Venkateswara College (SVC), being a General candidate, one must pay an average fee ranging from ?21,295 to ?23,605 a year. As a result, the total three-year fee can range from ?64,000 to ?70,000. The fee increment is roughly 5-10% per year because UDF was increased in 2025. Breakdown/Channeling of Fees and Even though the tuition charge is nominal (?180 to ?200), the primary amount comprises the UDF (?1,500), Lab/Computer charges (?3,000), and the Facilities/Service charges (?1,500). The one-time caution charges (?500) and the admission charges (?500) are applicable for the first year. However, the SC/ST classmates charge a considerably lower amount of ?6,770 per year, and the PwBD students pay around ?830 per year. Financial Aid Students with family income less than ?2.5 Lakh can apply for SVC College Freeship Scholarship, usually offering ?6,000 per annum. Meritorious Students are eligible for INSPIRE Scholarship (?80,000 per annum) or Merit-cum-Means Scholarship through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). Academic achievement is further honored by Srimati Velagalety Suvarchalamba Memorial Prize.

Course Curriculum Overview

I think the BSc Statistics (H) offered by Sri Venkateshwara College has been quite relevant and comprehensive in content. The core courses such as probability, inference, regression, and econometrics were the major reasons for opting for the subject of statistics. It provides us in-depth analytical training that is necessary for higher education and work in the field of data, though there is a need for exposure to software/tools as well. The semester-wise examination, which is moderately tough

Faculty

So talking about my course,Statistics, our faculty is quite good. Since I haven't experienced other faculty, I can't compare ours with them, but good enough. Since I was not expecting much, I found them to be really well and friendly. They also take regular classes. Talking about our course structure, in every semester, we have 3 core subjects, which are major subjects under our particular course. And then we have another subject, General Elective, which has equal weightage as core ones but its choice is up to you, you can choose any course of your interset, evn if its not related to your major. Apart from these we have 3 other subjects carrying slightly less weightage and can be managed easily. That's it. As for the marking scheme, I don't know much about it as our answer sheets are not checked by our professors. But the marks for internal assessment are given by our professors which is not so hard to get if you are a decent student. Till now, I did not find my course to be very tough and it was quite manageable with other activities as well. For the upcoming semesters, I can't say anything....

Campus Life

Talking about DU campus life, it is different for different people. you should not rely on someone's opinions to form yours. Some people find it good , having good oppurtunities for growth, while others may find it to be worst. Some people even get into wrong things like developing bad habits like smoking and all....but its not a complete picture of it. In our college, there is a lot of diversity, be it departments, faculty, students, or clubs and societies. You will find people of each kind. Its up to you who you choose to be with. There are a lot of things happening in our college. you may not be knowing about every thing thats going on. same applies for me as well. I don't know about all the things. The infrastructure is not so good, we can't deny this fact. The societies are also very different and cater to different needs. Notable ones are NSS, NCC, Enactus, CISE,, and many more.

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly thanks for letting me to write the review so the fees for bsc Hons Statistics in Kirori Mal College University of Delhi is very affordable which is just 15915 this year (i paid this in second year) . I'm not aware with the detailed structure of fees but the fees that I have paid in 1st year was approx 16000 so it's less than as compared to 1st year. Yes students from category have lesser fees as compared to unreserved but not aware with the exact amount

Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio is not very good in Ramjas College. The college is understaffed, and there are a lot of courses and students to cater to. However, most of the faculty is approachable and supportive, despite being quite strict. In my course, the professors are lenient and well knowledgeable, while upholding disciplinary standards. We have roughly 7 exams per semester. They are not very difficult to clear, and there is approximately a 70%+ clearance rate. The course curriculum is very practical and therefore quite relevant,

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees I paid in 2025 was 17500 rupees. This included all the tuition fees, and admission fees and lab fees, etcetera. The exact breakdown of the fees was not provided, however it included everything. This was the fees was for the general category. I do not have the knowledge of fee structures for other categories. There are merit based scholarships and financial aid available for economically weaker students.

Ques. What is the future of B.Math and B.Stat students in ISI, Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Praniti Das on 28 Sept 21

Ans. ISI Kolkata does not provide a B.Math program. The majority of B.Stat students return for M.Stat while some people join CMI, TIFR, IIM, and other such organizations.  M.Stat employees earn an average of 16–17 LPA, and many of them attend prestigious US graduate institutions. There are no fees for the entire program, and a stipend is provided. So, if you're looking for a career here, your future is bright.Read more

Ques. Is it safe to join a B.Stat at ISI Kolkata (I'm a non-Bengali student)?

● Top Answer By Natasha Kaur on 22 Sept 21

Ans. Kolkata is one of India's safest cities. This city attracts visitors from all over India and the world. That's why it's known as the "City of Joy." Bengalis are extremely friendly.  ISI Kolkata is known to have the most sought-after institute in Statistical expertise. It has one of the best faculty members in India. Out of which, 30 professors were published in Standford University. Moreover, you have got a seat in B.Stat which is considered one of the toughest examinations for Mathematics in Asia. You should base your judgement on the basis of a stereotype as letting go of this opportunity will be a wrong decision. Almost 50% of the batch consists of Non-Bengalis here at ISI Kolkata. There is no need to worry as the institute also has a rigid anti-ragging policy.Read more

Ques. Which university will be best for statistics University of Allahabad or University of Lucknow?

● Top Answer By Reshmi Sen, on 08 Nov 21

Ans. Both University of Allahabad and University of Lucknow are good in their own ways. They also consist of their fair share of flaws. Here’s mentioning some facts about both these colleges I got to know online: The faculty of both colleges are really good. They are highly experienced and extremely cooperative.  Subjects like statistics, geology, zoology, astronomy are considered good by students at University of Lucknow. Both have a strong alumni network. Many consider Allahabad University better than Lucknow University due to its central status. But after considering everything, you need to keep one thing in mind that the institution is not the major factor for your success. It is your dedication and hard work that will help you reach your goal.Read more

Ques. What is the cutoff for a B Stat at Asutosh College Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Senjuti Roy on 25 Oct 21

Ans. The required prerequisite for doing a B.Stat at Asutose College is 50% in the 12th standard. Having Statistics/Mathematics in your 10+2 is mandatory. Students who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination and have also passed the English test with full marks of not less than 100 are eligible to apply. If you have a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or the cessation of a recognized regular Course of Study after passing the previous qualifying test, then you are not eligible to apply. To determine eligibility for admission to the Honors Course, add the marks in the top four subjects. Marks obtained in mandatory Environmental Education/Studies, on the other hand, will not be factored into the final grade. You must have a minimum of 50% in aggregate and pass Mathematics. Students from the SC/ST or OBC categories need to have a minimum of 40% in the previous qualifying examination.Read more

Ques. Is Asutosh college good for statistics honours?

● Top Answer By Saunak Guha on 19 Oct 21

Ans. I have a few friends from the Statistics department. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say the department is quite great. Professors are well-qualified, strict and they never miss any scheduled class. Attendance is taken seriously in the department. You won’t be able to slack off. You also have to study seriously for the tests. Because if you fail in sectionals, you won’t be able to sit for finals. Read more

Ques. Which branch is better, IIT Kanpur statistics and data science (B.Sc) or IIT Dhanbad CSE?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 12 Oct 23

Ans. Both the courses are good.  However, with the advancement of technologies like AI and ML, and one’s increasing dependency upon them, Data Science has become a field with immense potential.  Data Science has a lot of future scope, and its demand will only increase with time. This field requires a good understanding of Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (Especially Python Language).  BSc. in Data Science is an even better option than CSE at present. Moreover, college-wise, IIT Kanpur is way ahead of IIT Dhanbad.  Therefore I would recommend you choose BSc. Statistics and Data Science at IIT Kanpur over CSE at IIT Dhanbad. Read more

Ques. How is SVKM's NMIMS Science department, specifically a B.Sc in applied statistics and analytics?

● Top Answer By Shivangi Khatana on 18 Jun 21

Ans. One of my friends is currently doing her Bachelor's in Science, specifically in Applied Science and Statistics from NMIMS- Kharghar campus. She has given me some input which I will be sharing with you. Frankly, everything so far has been excellent for her. She appreciates the syllabus and all that's taught. The syllabus covers all that one needs to know about Data Science and its basics. My friend is about to get into the 3rd semester after this Corona wave is over. The basics that were covered in first year were: Mathematics - Calculus Statistics - Descriptive Probability and Distribution Economics - Micro and Macro For coding, she had: " C " language, DBMS, " R ", SPSS, SCILAB and Python (from the second year of syllabus) Actuarial Science and additional projects were added by the time she had reached her second year. You are seen as more experienced when you begin studying Actuarial Science. It is sufficient to cover all your basics that concern Data Science. Along with a brilliant syllabus arrives a pretty hectic schedule. There are regular exams wherein you will only get a week for preparation. Not only this but there are presentations, assignments and projects to cover and submit before the deadline. It is going to be a thrilling experience as all the knowledge and information will help you understand how to perform well under any circumstances with perfection.Read more

Ques. Is the Ramjas College a good option for statistics (Hons.)?

● Top Answer By Rina Darbar on 21 Jan 22

Ans. Yes, Ramjas College is a good option for Statistics (Hons.). It has one of the best faculties when it comes to Statistics. Also you will have a number of seniors who will help you with preparation by sharing previous question papers and even their first hand experience of the examinations.  If you want to secure a job opportunity after graduation with statistics then join the different societies to learn new skills and explore. At the end of your graduation, you will realize that you are a completely different person having a new set of skills. Your placements depend on how good your skills are. Learn about the course thoroughly and you will get many job offers from reputed companies like TCS, Tech Mahindra, etc. Students can also opt for higher studies, if their scores are good.Read more

Ques. What are some reasons to not choose B.Stat at ISI Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Soutrik Banerjee on 22 Aug 22

Ans. Life at ISI Kolkata isn’t similar to that of other typical colleges, where you can bunk classes, mug up concepts right before the examination, and score passing grades. It maintains a high standard of academics. The curriculum and course work is extremely grueling. Many students find it difficult to even score passing marks in some courses. ISI doesn’t give any option to retake a course. Many students take admission at ISI for the free-of-cost world-class education, it offers. This is not a good motivation for choosing the institute. Choose ISI Kolkata B.Stat, only if you are interested in the course. Read more

Ques. Is it wise to prepare for the ISI Kolkata B.Stat entrance exam instead of IIT?

● Top Answer By Shrayanshi Roy on 15 Sept 21

Ans. Taking a course at IIT is just as difficult and demanding as pursuing a B.Stat course at ISI. They are whatever you choose to do with your life, whether you like mathematics/statistics enough to spend three years learning statistics (and a little math) and statistics solely at ISI, or you believe you are skilled in another subject that has a good course at one of the numerous IITs. It depends totally on where you want to be. Furthermore, even if you prepare for college X, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. As a result, keeping colleges Y and Z in mind as a backup is always a good idea. Only you can decide which option is preferable for you and what you want. Read more
