Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course, because I have an interest in mathematics and statistics, and I believe that this field could have led me to my desired career, which is in the field of consulting the curriculum for my course is a bit outdated and sometimes a bit irrelevant as it is based on a lot of theory, which is not a prerequisite of statistics, but mostly it does teach you a lot about the different models that we need in order to use statistical modelling in the future. I think an area in which this curriculum can be improved is in the field of providing us with more practical knowledge than theoretical knowledge. Exams are spaced throughout the year in a convenient manner and do not create a lot of pressure on the students. The amount of practical examinations is something that I believe should be decreased. However, internal and external examinations are conducted at the correct time. The difficulty level of the internal examination is sometimes greater than the difficulty level of the external examination, which I think should be improved.
Internships Opportunities
A number of internship opportunities are provided by the placements of our college on a community connect group all throughout the year. This stipend offered ranges from 5K to 20 K a month depending upon the scale of the company and the role that they are seeking interns for. caplexus capital, deloitte etc provide internship opportunities.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for sitting in campus placements. After the third semester. I believe and the average package offered is around six lakhs per annum. Companies like Deloitte EY Accenture Bain often visit our college for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
Sri Venkateswara College charges 23,105 for my course, fee for other courses ranges between 21000 to 26000. in the first year, students generally pay a one time caution fee of about rs 500 and admission charges of around rs 250- rs 500 development fee, library, sports anf college welfare fee together is around 2000-4000.
Campus Life
A face called Nexus is carried out annually on our college campus, which is one of the it's generally held in the month of February March. A lot of books and resources are available in the library for use for students and are easily accessible as well. Societies and student run club culture in Sri Venkateswara College is quite robust and we have a lot of opportunities to join varieties of societies and cater to each and everyone's individual interests and also focus on career growth using practical skills. At the same time, there are different quotes and fields available for sports and extra curricular activities and facilities for basketball, cricket football are provided on campus, et cetera..
Admission
I applied to IPU university. I also applied to Ashok University. I applied to Christ University. I applied to Narsee Moonjee Institute of management studies. I got accepted into all of them. I additionally applied to Delhi University, which I ended up choosing other colleges of Delhi University that I was getting into like she Guru Gobind Singh College of commerce as Sri Venkateswara College has a better reputation and a brand name and has more placement opportunities as compared to other colleges and it is also a very prestigious college in South campus. I did not get a rejection from any colleges that I applied to the admission process of Sri Venkateswara College is based on CUET and a preference list that we make on the basis of our CET scores and we are allotted a college according to its position on our preference list and whether or not we qualify for it on the basis of our score cut-off for Sri Venkateswara College was high but achievable with a few months of preparation. The admission experience was convenient and the only place that I encounter a problem in was during the curation of my preference list.
Faculty
The faculty is quite helpful and easy to approach. They solve all the doubts that students approach them with. Also, they provide opportunities for improvement as well. I enjoy stidying under Dr. MKS Shukla as he is extremely knowledgeable and has done a lot of research on the subject he teaches. We typically give about two exams a year, excluding practical examinations. The course curriculum is a bit outdated.
Interview Experience
I did not have to give any interview or group discussion for the admission process at any stage. It was based entirely on our scores in the entrance examination which is CUET. No interviews were taken at all.
Night Life
The campus closes down around every night. There's a place called Satya Niketan right across from College, which is full of eateries and restaurants and hangout spots for college students. It also has housing areas for students who live in PG's and the Maggi point is a very famous point for hanging out inside the campus as well as the canteen. The locality around college is safe to roam around at night for women and men.
