The name of the amazingly organised fest of hansraj, named confluence, is held by the union authorities in the months of feb and march every year. We are surprised each year to find highly encouraging identities at our event, like manmohan singh etc. The library is highly tech-facilitated and classrooms are eloquently well maintained. I am also a part of tedx hansraj society, which makes my skills worthwhile.

Placement Experience

I am pursuing bsc mathematics course, and the reason I chose this course was that our couse offers jobs in a wide variety of industries. Our expertise can be leveraged not just by the tech industry, but research and development, and education sector as well. We are taught analytical, logical, and quantitative skills and thus all these skills makes us the sought after people, to be recruited.

Faculty

Faculty is actually very nice and knowledgable and are very easy to approach. I really like my algebra teachers miss nisha and muss deepti they are very sweet and understandable. I think exam structer is bit overwhelming as there are a lot of marks based on internals which sometimes become a downside

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 22000 for one year for general category However according to my knowledge fees for reserved categories is comparatively less. There are a lot of shcolarships option which are easy enough to get mist of them having a criteria that family income should be less than 6 lpa

Faculty

There are different types of faculty members. Some are too strict to be true meanwhile others are totally strict. We have to finish a total of 7 papers each sem which has 22 credit points. Rarely students fail to follow the curriculum and only those who pay 0 attention

Course Curriculum Overview

My interest towards the field of mathematics and it's relevance and importance in future made me choose this course. Teaching methods such as smart board should be present for better understanding. Exams only happen once in one sem which are called end sem.

Faculty

Faculty -to- students ratio depends in the class size, the class size is 25 to 30 students. There are three exams for core subjects that you select, one exam for generic elective which is a selective subject which you have to in the first year only. Rest three are aecc , vac and sec. These three are also elective.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course duration is for three years, and the fees for one year is 14000. The average number of students in my class is approximately 20 to 25 students. The infrastructure is average. Studies is much better. The faculty of mathematics department is very good.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fee i paid in my 1st year for admission, it was 27000, for 2nd year it was 30000, for 3rd year i paid 33000 and I'm sure in 4th year it will be around 36000 for sure. Additionally, we have to pay every semester for examination fee, around 1400-1700 and if you fail to pay at time, late fee charged around 250-500. Talking about categories other than general, like OBC, SC, ST, Muslims etc etc, the fee is same for all the categories. About scholarships, there's a yearly scholarship for the students on merit base, who score more than 9 cgpa, they'll get the scholarship and other than that, there's a scholarship , dell aspire scholarship to hansraj College only in Delhi University, provided to around 30 students from each new admission batch every year, mostly students they select from mathematics department and economics department, they provide yearly fee, a laptop from dell, accommodation payment every month around 10000, provide mentorship, intership opportunities, placement opportunities and many more. Other than these, I guess there are scholarships which are to be provided by DELHI UNIVERSITY itself to the students and are certain eligibility criteria for the same.

Campus Life

My campus life is quite good as, there are 60+ societies in hansraj, evryone should join atleast 1 society in their college life. I joined nishtha: the civil services society as an editorial wing member in my 1st year and then in 2nd year in WDC and ritva society as an editorial & content writing wing member, and in my 3rd year i got the senior core position AS senior advisor in WDC, PR and marketing head + general secretary in GEC and Editorial head in SPIC MACAY society. It was so good to join these , best decision as These societies help to improve the personality of an individual and make friends for lifetime, to explore with . The yearly festival of hansraj is confluence it is held for 3 days every year. The sport's festival runs for days in hansraj and known as khelo hansraj, where students play games and win or lose, all the games are intra college games held between students from different departments.

The main festival is chilamb which is kalolssavam is the main program that is in the college. Which is celebrated by the whole college itself for 3 days. Telling about the library we have a madsive library containing the syllabus novels and all other type of books and journals. Sports is a well maintained and focused factor in the college. And does a great support for them.. College contains many groups like nss, ncc, csa and thavanish which is great opportunity for people who are introverts. I hot a great campus life in there

Fees and Financial Aid

So for me the courses fee is okay that is approximately 54k. You might think what does it cost this much but the thing is the college is itself a big one with smarclasses and great opportunities ahead. So for me its a great deal to get this colleg in for this fees. But there is a thing that for students who opt any other courses they may get the fees more or less. If they have any scholarship its their luck

Course Curriculum Overview

I would rate my course 7.5/10. the curriculum key foundations and theoretical structures were factors behind taking this course for my academic future, It emphasizes my analytical ability as well as gives me conceptual clarity which is very useful in the next competetive exams . It is well for academic pursuits but limits when it comes to real world applications due to its theory oreinted nature. students often require external suppport such as internships and certifcates, projects etc . Area of improvements will be more practical based components in the syllabus such as case based problems etc. the examination system consists of internal assesments during the sem and one end semester examination per paper. the exams are usually moderate to challenging

Campus Life

The annual fest of ARSD is called TIDE which is usually held in the month of march and the annual diwali mela AKSA is held during or near diwali break, the biggest freshers annual known as AARAMBH is held in sept to ocotober after the freshers ahve arrived. The library has a huge variety of textbooks, reference books and even academic journals related to specific courses, both physical and online resources are available. Wi-fi connectivity is available across the campus, the college offers sports such as cricket, badminton, basketball and football and students can also join NCC,NSS , consulting societies and much more.

Faculty

The faculties here are very much approachable. They are well experienced and help us understand our topics much better. I cannot say one faculty is the best because each and every one in my department is very good. The one thing i found very good in them is that they do not have any favourism or discrimination among students. About the exams there is a sem exam and an internal exam. If you fail for internals only your internal marks will be cut but if you fail in the sem exam you will be asked to write the supplementary exam. Number of students fail to clear the exams are near to zero because the faculties make sure that every student understands the topics very well.

Campus Life

Overall ambience and experience of this college is very good. There is a yearly arts fest wich is of three days named 'Chilamb'. Apart from that every department conducts a department fest every year. The library has a vast collection of books. The library itself has two floors of book which include fiction, biographies, science fiction , study materials etc etc. Every classroom here has either a smart board or a projector. Our college gives so much importance to sports and support every students who are interested in them. Also there are so many clubs. College has nss,ncc etc and other clubs like dance, music , film etc etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum is excellent. If you aim to pursue an M.Sc. or Ph.D., the foundational training in Real Analysis, Group Theory, and Ring Theory is world-class. It builds the "mathematical maturity" required for higher research. While the curriculum includes LaTeX and Mathematica/MATLAB in practicals, the connection to high-demand fields like Quantitative Finance, Machine Learning, or Cryptography is often theoretical rather than hands-on.Following the Semester System, exams occur twice a year (Nov/Dec and May/June). Additionally, you face Internal Assessments (Class Tests/Assignments) usually around the 8th and 12th week of the semester

Campus Life

Hansraj is known for having some of the best infrastructure in Delhi University's North Campus. One of the largest in DU, housing over 137,000 books and a massive collection of 9,200+ in the Book BankFully air-conditioned and automated using RFID technology and the KOHA management system. You can easily locate books via the OPAC. Typically held in March/April, this is the big one. It features celebrity performances, competitive dance, music, and fashion shows. The college website and various society-run Instagram handles act as the main "portals" for real-time updates on internal assessments, attendance, and events.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio for the mathematics department is 1:10 and about the relationship, there can be a very good relationship between the faculties and the students, the faculties are very good and approvhable, i like probably every faculties, all or good and have immense knowledge in theri particular department. Exams are categorized under 2 parts i.e. internal and externals. Internal comprises of 70 marks which includes class test, assignment, attendance and for the rest 90 marks, examination helds at the end of the semester.

Course Curriculum Overview

There are many aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the cource, as it is a practical cource with a core mathematical idea in it, a comprehensive knowledge about the mathematics world and the practical tools required in data science. The curriculum prepares one for the real world applications or furthur academic pursuits, some factors can be improved in the syllabus definitely and for the frequency and timing of exams is 3 hours for the 90 marks paper which is fare enough according to the difficulty level.

Faculty

The faculty of Hindu College, especially in the Mathematics department, is very strong and experienced, with most teachers holding higher degrees and taking regular doubt?solving sessions, so the student–teacher relationship feels friendly and supportive. In B.Sc Maths Hons, the approximate faculty?to?student ratio is around 1:45–1:50, which is decent for a popular DU college and still allows personal interaction during tutorials. The course follows the University of Delhi B.Sc (Hons) Mathematics syllabus with core subjects like Calculus, Algebra, Real Analysis, Differential Equations, Probability and Linear Algebra spread over six semesters, so the curriculum builds a strong theoretical base useful for research, data science and competitive exams. Exams are held every semester; marks are divided between internal assessment (class tests, assignments, attendance) and end?term theory paper, usually in a pattern like 25% internal and 75% external, which rewards consistent study rather than last?minute preparation. Overall, the exam level is moderate to tough because the questions are concept?oriented, but students who attend classes and practice regularly can clear papers comfortably, and many seniors go on to higher studies in mathematics or related fields after benefiting from this rigorous structure

Campus Life

Hindu College has a very vibrant campus life. The main cultural fest Mecca is held around March–April and is one of the most popular DU fests, with concerts, competitions and society events that keep the campus lively for weeks. Apart from this, there are many departmental fests and society events throughout the year, so there is always something happening after classes. The infrastructure is quite good: there is a large central library with a wide range of books and journals, well?maintained classrooms, labs, sports grounds and a Wi?Fi?enabled campus, along with separate hostels for boys and girls. Cafeteria food is decent, and students get plenty of open green spaces to sit and interact. Clubs and societies are a big part of life here—dramatics (Ibtida), dance, music, quizzing (Manthan), debating, finance and many more, plus NCC and different regional or interest?based cells, so almost every student finds a community to join. These activities help in confidence building, networking and overall personality development, making day?to?day campus life engaging, not just academically focused

Faculty

The faculty as I said is highly responsive and always there to solve my doubts and help me in solving questions. I am specially grateful to my mentor Mr. Kapil Kumar who helped me out graciously during the mentor clearance form. i do not have a faculty i dislike, they are all trying their best to teach in their own ways I am ever grateful and find it quiet fun to analyze and try to learn through each teachers unique teaching ways. There are 2 internals for every subject, 1 main paper for every subject and few practicals for external subjects and 1 for main subject. I think most students passed the exams, i don't find this curriculum challenging it is fairly easy.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum sometimes changes suddenly going from say equations to euclidean division algorithm or group theory, earlier these were separated subjects taught in different sems or as extra dsc, as such I find these sudden changes a little upsetting. They are still highly relevant to the course just like everything else that we are taught.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hansraj College follows the Delhi University standard fee structure. The tuition fee is very low, only about 180 rupees, but due to additional university charges and college charges, the fee spikes up to a significant amount. For general students, the fees is usuallu around 30k-60k, but for other categories, the fees are reduced or completely waived. The fees include lab charges, admission charges, student welfare charges and other charges. A 3-year ug course usually costs nearly 90,000-1 lakh. the fees gradually increase over the years, mainly due to additional charges, while tuition fees remain the same. The scholarships are freeships (fee waivers), merit cum need scholarships, Sumangla Devi Hemraj Bhalla scholarship, departmental prizes.

Campus Life

While it may be a little strict but still it organises annual fests, and then we have sports event organised by society. A part from this the societies organises events independently as well which are fruitfull in there own way. Secondly the crowd is absolutely amazing. This crowd is a perfect balance of being acdemically active but also always up for extra curicillar activities.

Faculty

Faculty student relationship is good and quite understandable . Faculty members are easily approachable in staff room as well as on phone . So There are some of the faculties I dont like just because they dont give attendance even on getting a medical for a genuine cause as well as society participation events .I dont personally think I should speak their names here.Further Faculty members are lot helpful in academics and studies. Exams are just on your preparations .People really dont need to study a lot , just cover their readings provided by colleage before semester exam and thats it or they can just study in class well. Here you do not need to prepare like in board exams.Course curriculum is quite relevant but I personally dont like the part of AEC,SEC AND VAC introduced ,they are not enhancing any of my skills ,they are just wasting my time I wanted to put on quite a nice job.

Course Curriculum Overview

I quite like solving Maths , so it is my interest that made me do so . Further I find Maths a bit easy to me. Curriculum helps me quite a lot for real world applications by preparing me in minor degree and a major degree. It is also a lot helpful in communication skills and connecting to different things being part of different societies. I think the teaching method should be more of logical and analytical development in my course rather than being just based on theorems and proofs , Further teaching should be more easy and tech based , Faculty should provide us handouts of every class before they start. The frequency is moderate , that is actually good that you get time to participate in other events and prepare for a lot other things . Exams are quite moderate , they are nor too tough nor easy , It just depends on person if they have prepared the basic readings

Ques. Is an integrated MSc in mathematics and computing in BIT Mesra a good option?

● Top Answer By Deepmoy Ganguly on 09 Aug 23

Ans. Maths and Computing is considered one of the best branches after CS in IITs today. The BIT tag is also quite popular among engineering aspirants so many enthusiasts of Math and CS  go for this branch to avail the opportunities this field offers. From what I have heard, the syllabus is at par with industry needs and the faculty pool is very passionate and approachable.  Mathematics is an indispensable part of Computer Science whether it’s research in data science or development. you need to be proficient in math. This course is designed to bridge the gap between the two which it purposely does, opening gates of innumerable opportunities.  To make the most of this branch, start concentrating on Core Mathematics and programming/DS/competitive programming right from the first year. Start working on a project by the end of the first year and go for an internship in the software domain. By the end of the 4th year, you will be proficient in most CS skills making it possible for you to sit for maximum placements. So, taking IMSC in Mathematics and Computing at BIT Mesra will be a good decision if you stop comparing your branch with others. The only drawback is that it is not a technical degree but that does not matter in the long run.Read more

Ques. How do I prepare for BHU UET Bsc Maths (hons)?

● Top Answer By Shirsti Varma on 11 Nov 21

Ans. To score well in BHU UET, you need to have your basics clear. Go through all the chapters in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from NCERT books and your textbooks at least once.  Go through the previous year’s questions from the BHU website. You will get to know the question trends and also get an idea of the chapters to focus on. They often repeat questions. The questions are not that hard. You can easily attempt 10% of the questions. 60% of the questions require fundamental knowledge of the subjects. Only around 30% of the questions will be difficult to solve. But you don’t need to worry about the 30% difficult question. You can easily score enough marks from the rest of the paper. Time management is crucial during the examination. The allotted time is 150 min. Which can seem short, if you don’t plan accordingly. First, you should attempt Chemistry questions. These are easy to solve and require less time. Then you can move on to Physics and Mathematics. Don’t stress too much on the questions that you don’t know the answer to. Try to score at least 120 out of 150 in the Chemistry section.  Your focus on class 11 and 12th syllabus should be 40/60.  The required cutoff for the general candidates is around 190-200. So, try to score 240 to get your preferred combination. Read more

Ques. How can I do BSc Mathematics major through IGNOU?

● Top Answer By Santosh Singh on 19 Oct 22

Ans. If you are willing to get admission at IGNOU for B.Sc. Mathematics you can follow the following steps: choose minimum 40 credits worth of Mathematics electives you have to choose/opt your Mathematics electives according to year wise scheme i.e some electives in first year, some in second year and rest are in third year. Remember you cannot opt a 3rd year elective course in first year or second year. You can opt a first year course in second year or third year. Similarly a second year course in the third year. This is why there are less than 24 credit options of Mathematics electives. Online registration system eliminates the already selected electives automatically. This is the reason you don’t get MTE1 or MTE6 etc. options in your second year reregistration options list. MTE 06 is the toughest paper so try opting other electives.Read more

Ques. Among JADAVPUR University, ST XAVIER'S AND CALCUTTA University, which is best to pursue B. Sc. in mathematics Honors?

● Top Answer By Pablo Patranabis on 11 Jan 21

Ans. Among the three mentioned universities, Jadavpur University is the best to pursue BSc in mathematics Honours without any doubt. The classes are assured regularly and rigorous for those who desire to have a future in mathematics; there should be no doubt in selecting JU.  Comparison: (Winning Institution - Jadavpur University) St. Xaviers became a university recently. A BSc degree from JU holds more value than a bachelor’s degree from St. Xaviers.  Jadavpur University was ranked 196th in Asia by The World University Ranking 2020. The faculty at JU is top-notch. The syllabus adopted by JU is of advantage if you want to pursue higher studies after your degree. You will have better exposure at Jadavpur through regular seminars. Attending seminars delivered by guest faculty from distinguished National institutes, and your seniors pursuing masters and Ph.D. will make an immense difference. If you are choosing St. Xaviers because of the campus, you should visit the Jadavpur University campus.  The classes are regular, and JU follows a rigorous pedagogy. The political environment people talk about is quite exaggerated. If you don't get involved in campus politics, it is never going to bother you.  Jadavpur University contributes much more than just a degree that gives you quality education, which is not restricted to classroom learning. They make sure the students turn into the person they can be and gives them the confidence that no other college in Kolkata does.Read more
