Campus Life

The overall campus is very vibrant, and brings you many new experiences of life . The annual fest called Manjari keeps the entertainment bar very high and also the other colleges around the north campus and their fests makes it all a very energetic place to enjoy in . The education resources are easily available in nearby stationary shops. There are many societies, clubs and cells in DRC which makes students learn new skills and meet new people to grow and develop.

Placement Experience

The placements of my college are moderate as the average package is ?6.5 lakhs and the highest package is around ?23.02 lakhs . Many prestigious companies like delloite, accenture have held various placement sessions in DRC and it's overall a good to place for companies to get high skilled students. The placement cell is very active too which makes it possible for our college to get many internships and placements opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure was approximately Rs. 5500 per semester making it a total of Rs. 33,000 approximately for the entire course. Out of the Rs. 5500 semester fee, approximately half the amount was tuition fee and rest half was divided in different smaller categories like lab fees, library charges, development charges etc. Rest of my batchmates were also paying similar fees. No scholarships were available.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was quite relevant and precise. Specific pages from a variety of books were prescribed for every subject in every semester. We were studying the best content from best books of famous authors. We were not ristricted to Indian authors only. Being BSc students also, we were learning from engineering books and foreign authors. The exams were semester wise.

Course Curriculum Overview

The Maths Hons. curriculum is great for theory and the core pare are absolutely solid which is why I chose it, it genuinely prepares you well for academic pursuit like Msc or any other competitive exam. But honestly it needs a serious update on the practical side, we should have more papers like data science and coding to make it more job ready. Exams are fine, you get a fee interenal tests, practical and stuff and then the main semester exam. They're not that tough if you attend 70% of the classes as the professors are quite good at teaching and obviously totally doable if you study regularly.

Campus Life

We have a lot of fests and events happening in college and some of them being the annual fest(sabrang) which is a 2 day festival with different artists performing and a lot of fun activities happening in campus, all of the events are held throughout the year and it is quite nice for being more social. There are a lot of societies and clubs, where you get to meet new people while enjoying and learning about different things and exploring and explanding your skills in whatever you're passionate about.

Campus Life

I've had a very good experience with campus life. The college has a nice social and society culture, with various clubs and organizations that cater to diverse interests. I've been part of some of these clubs, which has helped me connect with like-minded people and develop new skills. The infrastructure is generally good, with decent classrooms, libraries, and recreational facilities. However, the hygiene of the college environment, particularly the washrooms and common areas, could be improved. The quality of food served in the canteen is also a concern. Despite these issues, I'm glad to be a part of this college community. With some improvements, I believe the college has the potential to offer an even more enriching experience for its students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly fee is 22000, it has increased by couple thousands. There is also some seminars those are mostly free or else it is cancelled cost around 20 to 50 in which they also provide refreshment or some volunteers.

The annual fest for my college is called confluence where many talented artist are invited to showcase their creativity and skills including many stalls for students amusement..The books and journals in the library are accessible to all students..The classrooms are equipped with air conditioners so that the students can get the best experience..Sports are also important in the college with its large field of games offered like football, basketball, hockey, archery and many others. There are many societies for students to take part in so that all students can get whatever they are most interested in.

Course Curriculum Overview

The idea of solving questions you have never thought of really makes the course ive choosen thrilling..it really prepares me for real world in many aspects..they can improve the course curriculum if they could actually record classes and upload them online for the students to go and rewatch them..there is no problem with the exam being conducted twice a year and the difficult is mid to high so it really depends on the preparation of the students

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for B.Sc. Hons Mathematics in Kirori mal college is very budget-friendly for every student here. It's just rupees 17115 yearly, including different components of tuition fees, registration fees. development fees, lab fees, etc. For the reserved categories like SC,ST and others, it gets down to just a nominal amount. From the past years, there has been a minimal increase in the fees structure. There are various scholarship schemes which are launched by the University of Delhi and the college itself for economically weaker students and also for meritorious students.

Our college is really affordable the yearly fees comes out around as 17115 thousand total course costing approximately 55000 for 3 years. Other than this Delhi University only takes semister wise exam fees and a registration fees at the time of cuet. There are a few few waivers for sc,st,obc, pwd students there are various scholarships such as the merit based scholarships with upto 20000 monatory help central and state government schemes ranging from 50000 to 60000 kirorimal also itself offers a full waiver scheme for needy students on the basis of their family income.

Faculty

The faculty at kirorimal college is really very good they are well above qualified to teach us they way they are immersed into their subjects and the way the teach. The student ratio being 12:1 really helps as they can oversee each student personally. I really like my algebra teacher he teaches so well he makes you fall in love with the subject. The best faculty in my opinion would be the ERA professor RK Tripathi sir we have 3 core subjects and 4 mandatory additionals the exams are moderately tough if you study a few hours regularly then they will be a breeze.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is 30:1 which is 1 faculty on 30 students which is pretty decent andand faculty are quite friendly and they also explain a hard topic like a piece of cake if a student wants to understand a topic once more and couldnt get it in class or he or she was absent at that day faculty would also take extra class to explain that one topic which is the best thing and at the end a student wants this type of support from his teacher. The best faculty in my opinion is Stanzin sir, he is an excellent teacher and also cracks jokes in class and may wrap up the class early if students are sleepy or they dont want to study. There is no teacher that i hate and every teacher is special in their own terms, There are 2 exams in a semester; mid sems or internal assessment and the final exams as my course is mathematics honours it is not easy because of elementary real analysis which is a subject in our semester, 80-90% students pass the exams and the course curriculum is pretty irrelevant because the syllabus is outdated and is no close to the syllabus which is teached in foriegn universities like harvard, standford etc

Course Curriculum Overview

Since for a long period of time I was a person who was always intruiged in critical thinking and problem solving I percieved mathematics as a subject which is a foundation of both and this is the reason why i chose mathematics honours , The things I would like to improve in this subject should be more practical as one of the subjects in our course is elementary real analysis which is purely theoretical and it is of no use in the real world so that is one thing which should be improved. The timings of exam are from 9-12 and they are pretty difficult unless an individuals are known to all the concepts.

Faculty

To be honest, you will find the best maths faculty in KMC. There are 17 professors in total in maths department. They are very generous and clear every doubt of each student by giving them proper time. There is much leniency in attendance and classes. SP tripathi, Vishal dhawan, Neha agarwal are the renowned facilities. The exams happen on a planned basis like internal assessments, continuous assessments after every fortnight, mid sem exams and also end sem exams. They are not much difficult and can be cleared with practice. The course elevates the human thinking and brings it to the reality of practical applications of mathematics.

Campus Life

The campus life here is so exciting, every other day there is a speaker session or a workshop which engages a lots of students. Due to hectic schedule of classes, there is less time for Extra-curricular activities. The seniors and even the batchmates in the campus are really friendly, helpful and supportive. The campus is very safe, it is proctored by many efficient safety protocols. The libraries have loads of books, journals to expanfd knowlegfe of students and also rooms of great ambience. The student run societies are a key highlight as they work on holistic development of the student.

Course Curriculum Overview

Mathematics as a subject is what i admire the most as it needs more critical thinking and solving rather than just cramming textbooks. The curriculum on the other hand does not really help to face the real life applications as the curriculum is pretty outdated and needs innovation. It can have more practicality and example based teaching.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio is for every teacher there are 23 student. The faculty to student relation is very mix, sometimes faculty does not understand the needs of students but the teachers are approachable to get our doubts clear. The Mathematics faculty is really good but i dont know much about others as i am a fresher.

Infrastructure seems to be aging badly, and a lot of the students regularly raise concerns regarding their safety on campus due to this situation. The library and reading rooms are fairly big, and the collection of books is quite extensive. The Wi-Fi facility on campus though is not good at all. Sports infrastructure is quite good. Societies are extremely active and can help you develop as an individual.

Faculty

The faculty to student ratio should be around 1:20. All the faculties are qualified well enough but more often than not are bad at communicating their ideas in a clear and concise fashion. Most of them are approachable and help you out with academics in any ways possible. Internal assessments depend on the professors who conduct them, and university exams are mostly on a moderate level.

Ques. Is an integrated MSc in mathematics and computing in BIT Mesra a good option?

● Top Answer By Deepmoy Ganguly on 09 Aug 23

Ans. Maths and Computing is considered one of the best branches after CS in IITs today. The BIT tag is also quite popular among engineering aspirants so many enthusiasts of Math and CS  go for this branch to avail the opportunities this field offers. From what I have heard, the syllabus is at par with industry needs and the faculty pool is very passionate and approachable.  Mathematics is an indispensable part of Computer Science whether it’s research in data science or development. you need to be proficient in math. This course is designed to bridge the gap between the two which it purposely does, opening gates of innumerable opportunities.  To make the most of this branch, start concentrating on Core Mathematics and programming/DS/competitive programming right from the first year. Start working on a project by the end of the first year and go for an internship in the software domain. By the end of the 4th year, you will be proficient in most CS skills making it possible for you to sit for maximum placements. So, taking IMSC in Mathematics and Computing at BIT Mesra will be a good decision if you stop comparing your branch with others. The only drawback is that it is not a technical degree but that does not matter in the long run.Read more

Ques. How do I prepare for BHU UET Bsc Maths (hons)?

● Top Answer By Shirsti Varma on 11 Nov 21

Ans. To score well in BHU UET, you need to have your basics clear. Go through all the chapters in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from NCERT books and your textbooks at least once.  Go through the previous year’s questions from the BHU website. You will get to know the question trends and also get an idea of the chapters to focus on. They often repeat questions. The questions are not that hard. You can easily attempt 10% of the questions. 60% of the questions require fundamental knowledge of the subjects. Only around 30% of the questions will be difficult to solve. But you don’t need to worry about the 30% difficult question. You can easily score enough marks from the rest of the paper. Time management is crucial during the examination. The allotted time is 150 min. Which can seem short, if you don’t plan accordingly. First, you should attempt Chemistry questions. These are easy to solve and require less time. Then you can move on to Physics and Mathematics. Don’t stress too much on the questions that you don’t know the answer to. Try to score at least 120 out of 150 in the Chemistry section.  Your focus on class 11 and 12th syllabus should be 40/60.  The required cutoff for the general candidates is around 190-200. So, try to score 240 to get your preferred combination. Read more

Ans. If you are willing to get admission at IGNOU for B.Sc. Mathematics you can follow the following steps: choose minimum 40 credits worth of Mathematics electives you have to choose/opt your Mathematics electives according to year wise scheme i.e some electives in first year, some in second year and rest are in third year. Remember you cannot opt a 3rd year elective course in first year or second year. You can opt a first year course in second year or third year. Similarly a second year course in the third year. This is why there are less than 24 credit options of Mathematics electives. Online registration system eliminates the already selected electives automatically. This is the reason you don’t get MTE1 or MTE6 etc. options in your second year reregistration options list. MTE 06 is the toughest paper so try opting other electives.Read more

Ques. Among JADAVPUR University, ST XAVIER'S AND CALCUTTA University, which is best to pursue B. Sc. in mathematics Honors?

● Top Answer By Pablo Patranabis on 11 Jan 21

Ans. Among the three mentioned universities, Jadavpur University is the best to pursue BSc in mathematics Honours without any doubt. The classes are assured regularly and rigorous for those who desire to have a future in mathematics; there should be no doubt in selecting JU.  Comparison: (Winning Institution - Jadavpur University) St. Xaviers became a university recently. A BSc degree from JU holds more value than a bachelor’s degree from St. Xaviers.  Jadavpur University was ranked 196th in Asia by The World University Ranking 2020. The faculty at JU is top-notch. The syllabus adopted by JU is of advantage if you want to pursue higher studies after your degree. You will have better exposure at Jadavpur through regular seminars. Attending seminars delivered by guest faculty from distinguished National institutes, and your seniors pursuing masters and Ph.D. will make an immense difference. If you are choosing St. Xaviers because of the campus, you should visit the Jadavpur University campus.  The classes are regular, and JU follows a rigorous pedagogy. The political environment people talk about is quite exaggerated. If you don't get involved in campus politics, it is never going to bother you.  Jadavpur University contributes much more than just a degree that gives you quality education, which is not restricted to classroom learning. They make sure the students turn into the person they can be and gives them the confidence that no other college in Kolkata does.Read more
