Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as Guru Ghasidas University (GGU) is a central university located in the Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh. Established in 1983, GGU is one of the Chhattisgarh's largest and oldest institutions of higher education. GGU offers UG, PG, PhD, Diploma, and Certificate programs in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, and many more.

GGU is well known for its flagship programs such as BTech, MTech, and MBA. Admissions to most of the UG and PG programs at GGU are done through Common University Entrance Test (CUET), conducted by the NTA. For BTech and MTech admissions, the university accepts JEE Main and GATE scores respectively.

GGU is a residential Institution and the campus is spread over 700 acres of land, five kilometres from the main Bilaspur town. GGU Admissions

The admissions to GGU Bilaspur are based on an applicant’s CUET, UG and PG marks. The government university offers more than 200 courses in its 32 departments. Moreover, the courses range from disciplines like life sciences, pharmacy, humanities, law courses, management and more. Additionally, GGU provides numerous PHD or doctoral programmes as well. The admissions to the PhD programmes are based on the Vishwavidyalaya Research Entrance Test (VRET). Applicants first have to appear for the respective entrance tests, then wait for the merit lists. GGU Scholarships

GGU scholarships are offered to numerous meritorious and needy students. GGU also takes care of the disabled student population by providing an umbrella scholarship scheme for students with disabilities. GGU Campus And Facilities

GGU Bilaspur has a huge campus of 655 acres of land with various amenities for its students. The university has facilities like a health care unit, Central Library, hostel facility, Bus services, a well functioning cafeteria and more for its students. GGU also has staff quarters for its teachers, bank or ATM on campus. All facilities are as follows:

Hostel: GGU Bilaspur has three boys hostel, and three girls hostel, to provide well furnished accommodation for its students. Computer Center: Established in 1990 computer Centre gives in advance boost to the university. It has more than 50 computers with her well functioning, high-speed broadband connectivity. Students can visit the computer centre whenever they wish to use the facility.
Health Centre: To look after the health of the students, employees and non-teaching staff, GGU as a medical officer with assisting staff posted at the University. It provides 24 seven ambulance services, and 24 hours doctor on call facility for everyone.

A small idea about Ggu

Likes

Campus is too big , there is so much things to explore and many food stalls are also available. We Didn't need to travel always to main cafeteria but prices are slightly higher.
No ragging and positive environment.all seniors are very friendly and always help whenever we need.

Dislikes

Most of the classes are cancelled without any advance notice, like your class is at 10 am and you will get notified in 9:50 that class is cancelled.
If you are thinking you will learn lots of things in NEP courses, please be aware don't to choose hard subjects from other departments

Admission:

I only applied for this collage because this is one and only central university in Chattisgarh. I also didn't apply for any other courses, only applied for botany and got it. You can get admission in GGU by CUET UG/PG exams and VRET for PhD . I am UG student so I will explain about ug course. Eligibility is minimum 55% in 12th and Appeared for cuet( if there is vacan seats in any courses after 3rd round of counseling than cuet is not mandatory you can get admission with your 12th percentage). cutoff is low to moderate in 2023 - 155 for ur 117 for OBC and 63 for sc/st

The senior junior culture is mostly good and supportive

Dislikes

Too much interdepartmental issues leading to unnecessary clashes
Ego clashes are quite visible and apparent

Admission:

It was ranked the second topmost college of the state and in the order of counselling hence i chose it _ older colleges provide a good alumni network and good patient load along with running facilities. Didnt have enough marks to get Pt. JNM Raipur, hence stuck with this. The admission procedure is arguably the easiest in my college, the faculty members are extremely helpful regarding the same, that was the first exposure of any new student to the faculty and hence its good. eligibility is judged by NEET UG state rank only, the cutoff varies per year, and the overall admission process is smooth..

Good faculty they are so experienced and can teach in both languages hindi or.english they are compititive exam qualified phd completed teachers
Nss / Ncc practices are so good they also take us for camping for 7 days forr teaching uss services which we can do for our nation

Dislikes

They do not pay attention to practicals on time nd in teaching us practical knowledge
They do not provide placements to students just show some seminars in college

Admission:

I applied in other colleges also but i chose this college because of the good faculty and the deleoped courses present here and the main thing is it is goverment college and its value is so high than any private college .. you can get admisiioon here on the basis of your 12th percentage ... there is no exam conduct to take admission here for general category there is 65% criteria and for st/st students 45% criteria obc can get admission here in first divison in their 12th exam

A Small Glance Of My Big College

Likes

There are many different departments of different subjects in my university. The infrastructure of all departments are quite pretty. And good as compared to its fees.
There is a low price meal scheme in my university for needy students that offers lunch at only 10 rs per thali.

Dislikes

I don't like the placement services of my university as i didn't see anyone getting placement at a good company.
The distance between departments many departments are too much. Students have to go like 1 km for studying other subjects.

Admission:

I chose this college because this was a central university. This is the only one central university in chhattisgarh. This college is better than many of college in bilaspur on the basis of infrastructure development. The development speed of this collge is too better than others. Firstly I wanted to take admission in science college raipur but my name was not there in the merit list because my percentage in 12th was low. Admission was based on entrance exam and then merit list in my college. The biotech programme was the most preferred by students with the high cutoff of 198 marks.

University campus is good full of greenery trees plants and faculties staff of University are supportive and helpful to students
Campus Life is good and social interaction is good as their multiple courses and students from several states comes here social interaction also available

Dislikes

Less equipment in gymaniam it should bring latest equipment for gym

Admission process first after clearing jee mains through josaa counselling the college is alloted Taking ggu is main reason was I got chemical engg as previous I was getting mechanical in other colleges. Not choosing other colleges reason was I want chemical but getting lower branch Admission process For Btech Jee mains after that through josaa counselling For Mtech GATE For Bsc/BA/Bed such courses From CUET Overall experience of admission is good and interesting

The campus of the University is one of the best things things, it is spread in over 650 acres of land.
One of the biggest perk of a Central University is that people from all over the country come here to study, which is a great thing from the point of network building.

Dislikes

Their ain't much things to dislike in the university, things are getting better day by day but we still lack something including good campus placements
The exposure to industries is less, Visits, guest lectures etc doesn't happen on daily basis

Admission:

The eligibility for taking admission is one needs the write the CUET exam and register for the university, after that the admission is done on the basis of merit list. The admission process includes of online registration then ofline counseling and document verification. The cutoffs change every year. I applied only of this university as it was not very far from my native place, and is one of the best options to study in central India

The fest in the college is awesome, All the seniors are friendly
The faculty of college is nice, in all the way some are also good singers,poet,rapper etc

The campus is so small according to college
There is no badminton court in our college

This college is best in chhattisgarh for MBBS It is a government college We are selected for this college only according to our marks It is near to my hometown and also in a good city Bilaspur So my parents are also ok with this college only

Course fee is very affordable, and campus is very big and have sports facility to play different games.
Infrastructure is good and professor are highly qualified.

Dislikes

internet is very slow in the campus and also college wifi speed is average
clubs are just for names not many programs do hold. So, interactions between different branches students are not that good. and also football ground is only accessible to sports department not even in tournament also.

Admission:

Honestly i didnt choose this college as my wish , i had put this college in my counselling list and i didnt exepct that i would end up here. i had regretted my decsion when i got this college but i didnt have any other option left and i was feeling very bored due to my drop year , so i was eagerly waiting to join college thats why i had join this college. . sometimes i do regret why i came here because it is very far away from my home and it is not worth it all. The admission in this college for btech is done through jee mains , after giving jee exams you have to participate in jossa and csab counselling , and when you got a seat in this college you have to do physical reporting thats it . And also if you didnt get any seat in jossa and csab counselling , you can also participate in spot counselling

The learning opportunities is college is so much, you can explore various fields. The faculty is very supporting and encouraging that helps you to showcase your skills and learn different skills also.
In the college there are very good computer labs with updated software's and high-speed processors, huge library.

Dislikes

The examinations are more based on theoretical knowledge rather than on the practical.
The classes are not scheduled properly, and timetable is not being followed strictly.

Admission:

I didn't apply to any other college, at the time of the counseling I researched many colleges and I found this college most suitable for me as it provides strong industry experience and placements and it was financially accessible. The admission process is like any other government college Primarily in Engineering, you have to pass the JEE-Mains exams with good percentile and they appear in the counseling sessions of JOSAA and CSAB it that you can opt for your desired branch. After the admission, you will get a mail from the college in which all the details will be mentioned about the commencement of classes and several other details.

Friendly Nature Of the teachers and Mentors also they support you if you are financially unstable by helping you in filling form of scholarships and etc.
Univeristy also provide Part time jobs to the students from which they can earn little more money Part Time Works like E rikshaw driver has been given to the students

Dislikes

The University is not much developed only building are constructed in the name of departments no other facilities are available other than basic needs
There are Only 30 seats available for NCC in all over university which i think gives a bad status.

Admission:

I've applied for so many colleges but i want a government college due to which i am here but i targeted CLAT but not got any college from that exam then i prepare for cuet and now im here in this university. This university is much better from many of the private and givernment university in field of law. The admission process of this university is the students have to give CUET Exam and as per the cut off they get admission there are 120 Seats In BA LLB and 120 Seats in Bcom LLB Course.

Even if you are writing for 12^th boards exam, then too you need to appear for entrance exam viz. CUET which is scheduled for May 15^th 2024 and based on the score of the entrance test, you’ll have to apply for college application and then provide the 12^th marksheet/certificate for document verification whenever applicable.

CUET PG 2024 registrations are open now and the last date to apply is February 10, 2024. Interested candidates can register online on the official website @pgcuet.samarth.ac.in. CUET PG 2024 exam will be held from March 11 to March 28, 2024. Also, CUET UG 2024 registrations will begin soon. CUET UG 2024 exam is scheduled to be held from May 15 to May 31, 2024.
