What's New in XLRI?
XLRI PGDM admission 2025 will be based on XAT exam. The XAT 2025 registrations are open and the last date to apply is November 30, 2024. Interested candidates can fill out the application form and the application fees will be INR 2,200. The candidates interested in applying to XLRi will have to pay an additional fee of INR 200.
- XLRI PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) admission 2025 is open and the last date to apply is November 30, 2024.
- XLRI PGDM (GM) admission 2025 is open. The last date to apply through XAT scores is November 30, 2024 and through GMAT/ GRE is December 31, 2024.
- XLRI Executive Program Admission 2025 for Executive Diploma in Advanced Business Strategies for CXOs and EDHRM Program is open and the last date to apply is July 27, 2024 and August 31, 2024 respectively.
- XLRI PGDM (BM) and PGDM (HRM) results 2024 are out. Candidates are requested to check their email for further details.
XLRI admission into the PGDM courses is mainly through XAT, followed by a personal Interview. XLRI also accepts GMAT and GRE for the PGDM-GM program. XLRI XAT Cutoff is 96 percentile.
Along with the exam scores, XLRI also considers the performance in the personal interviews, relevant work experience, academic background, and extracurricular activities. XLRI PGDM - HRM and PGDM BM intake is 600.
XLRI PGDM-HRM/ PGDM BM Admission 2025
Candidates with a 3-year Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for the PGDM (HRM) and PGDM-BM programs at XLRI. The PGDM-HRM and PGDM-BM admission process includes the following stages:

XLRI PGDM-HRM and PGDM BM Selection Criteria
- The candidates are shortlisted for the PGDM-HRM and PGDM (BM) programs, based on their XAT scores.
- The XAT cut-off percentiles for XLRI admission are based on several factors. The three main determining factors are the number of candidates appearing for the XAT that year, the difficulty level of the XAT question paper, and the number of seats available.

- Along with the XAT scores, XLRI also considers the academic background and relevant work experience to shortlist candidates for the personal interview.

XLRI PGDM-HRM and PGDM BM Admission: How to Apply?
- The candidates will have to visit https://xatonline.in/ and click on ‘Register’.
- Candidates can then register by providing their details and verifying their email.
- Then they can start filling up the application form with all the academic & work experience details, and upload a photo, signature, and ID proof.
- Then they will have to select the program they want to apply for at XLRI and they will have to select their test city for XAT.
- They submit the form by paying an application fee of INR 2,000 for XAT and an additional INR 200 for each XLRI program.
XLRI PGDM-GM Admission 2025
PGDM-GM is a 15-month full-time program for those with a bachelor's degree and 5-years of full-time managerial work experience. The PGDM (GM) program admission process includes the following stages:

The candidates who hold a 3-year Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized by NAAC are eligible to apply for the PGDM-Logistics and Supply Chain Management program. Candidates who have completed B.Tech from institutes like IITs and NITs are also eligible.

XLRI FPM Admission 2025
The FPM program is a 4-year full-time residential program at XLRI. The candidates who fulfill any of the following criteria are eligible to apply for the following:
- BE/ B.Tech with 60% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates) and 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Postgraduation / Integrated Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates).
- Professional Qualification like CA, ICWA, or CS with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ ST candidates).

XLRI EFPM Admission 2025
XLRI EFPM is a 5-year non-residential doctorate program. The candidates who have an MBA/ PGDM/ GMP/ PGPX/ 1-year full-time residential program in Management with at least 5 years of full-time executive/ managerial/ teaching/ research experience, and are currently employed in a full-time job are eligible to apply to the EFPM program.
The EFPM admission process includes the following stages:

Admission:
XLRI is the oldest B-School in the country. I gave CAT, XAT and NMAT and converted a few new and baby IIMs from CAT and NMIMS, Mumbai from NMAT. XLRI was my last convert yet my best one. With terms of ranking, it was undoubtedly the best choice to make and I went for it.

- Great campus life. Everyone gets single rooms, so theres privacy and flexibility to fo things at your own pace.
- Engagement activities in terms of fests, committees on campus. Everyone gets a chance to participate in varius events catering to their likes and dislikes.
Dislikes
- A certain lack of transparency regarding the placements policies and process.
- The hunger for more students and contant construction on campus. All free and green spaces are used for more rooms constructed which just deteriorates the quality of life there.

Admission:
The admission process was very smooth. I sat for XAT and scored around 90 percentile with my lowest sectional percentile in DM at 73 percentile which just crossed the sectional cutoff of 72 percentile. I got an interview call which I had to select the slot for. Once selected, and online meeting was scheduled, and on the day of the interview I had 3 panelists (all male). The interview lasted for about 20 mins with questions spanning from why MBA to hobbies, interests and some technical questions based on past work ex. Once the interviews concluded the results were announced under 2 months and I was wait listed. XAT was in some ways a tough exam to crack, especially the DM section. I have no real notes for improvement on the process. It was pretty smooth from my perspective

- It's very hectic, sometimes you have to function on very little sleep

Admission:
Admission to XLRI is through the XAT exam which is conducted yearly, usually in the month of January. The application form is found on the website of XAT. XAT has lower cutoffs for women candidates and for those from non- engineering backgrounds. There is no caste based reservation system.

There was an entrance test called XAT. Then an SOP submission. Then a PI. There is no reservation benefits in XAT. It happens once a year. The application form is available on the website. From this year, there will be GD round also. GD and PI will happen offline.

Admission:
XLRI takes admission through the XAT examination followed by a GDPI. The overall cutoff for XAT is roughly around 95 percentile. This cutoff is the minimum eligibility for qualifying for the GDPI. The application fee is around 2000 INR and the form generally opens from June-July until the first week of December and the exam is held in the first week of January. Results are declared in January itself and the GDPI process begins from mid-February onwards. The final shortlist is declared in mid-April. Currently, there is no reservation system for admission to XLRI

Admission:
Any full time graduate can apply. Application forms are generally released in mid September to October with an application fees of 2200/-. Application closed by first week of December. There is no reservation in seats at XLRI. However, calls are given on lower cutoffs for reserved category.

- The outdoor area of jamshedpur is very small and the things to visit in jharkhand are less.

Admission:
First, you have to give XAT exam and score marks above the cutoff released by XLRI Jamshedpur. The average cutoff is available online, but It fluctuates from 93% to 95%. After that, submit your SOP and be ready for PI. There is no GD.

Admission:
Candidates need to appear for the XAT examination in order to get admission to XLRI. XAT exam consists of QA, DM, and VA as its sections in Paper-1. Also, it has GK and Essay in Paper-2. Candidates need to clear the sectional as well as the overall cut-off for both BM and HRM programs. The application form is available on the XLRI website and any person pursuing graduation is eligible for the examination. There is no reservation in XAT. The only segregation between candidates is made on the basis of gender and degree. The GK and Essay Writing is not considered while calculating the xat percentile. Post this, candidates are shortlisted for the PI process where candidates need to give separate interviews for BM and HRM programs.

Do you know anyone who got into a top b-school (IIMs, XLRI, JBIMS, NM, IIFT, FMS etc.) with average UG percentage?
Yes, I do know a friend who managed to get calls from many top B Schools despite having an average Undergraduate Score. Her profile looked like this

- 12th- 68%
- UG- 64%
Although her marks witnessed a gradual decline, she was lucky enough to study at XLRI. Past academics are considered as one but not the major factors at XLRI, unlike IIMs that focus a lot on past academics. A good XAT and GD-PI score can compensate for your poor academic record at XLRI, FMS, and JBIMS. NITIE is a top B School that does not consider past academics at all. My friend with her average profile managed to convert NITIE, XIMB, and all the IIMs except for the top ones obviously. So we can safely assume that admission into these top B Schools is possible even with an average profile provided that you score excellently in the CAT or XAT and the GDPI round.
What is the objective of admitting freshers in Ivy B-Schools like IIMs, FMS, JBIMS, SIMSREE, SPJIMR, XLRI, etc.?
MBA admission in Indian B Schools is a fairly weird process in comparison to that of foreign B Schools. In India, the admission process requires a candidate to have some work experience and in certain B-schools, it even carries a certain weightage. But during Final Placements, this scenario changes entirely as the recruiters prefer freshers over experienced candidates. The major reasons for this contrast are:
- The recruiters offering Marketing roles are on the lookout for candidates who can initially go through a sales job for a few years. They believe that the route to Marketing is through sales only. Now Sales requires a lot of traveling that too to rural areas. The recruiters know that these tough job conditions cannot be undertaken by Experienced professionals and thus prefer freshers who they can mold easily.
- The companies offering Finance roles know that the candidates with prior work experience won’t be working for the long hours they require them to. So they prefer freshers who can work long hours without complaining.
Recruiters are looking for candidates with work experience of not more than 11-12 months. Honestly, this strategy is illogical as a person with more work experience is bound to excel much better than a fresher, and restricting him from getting a job just because they cannot be exploited to the fullest extent is a bit cruel.
The scenario is pretty much the opposite in foreign countries that prefer MBA candidates with work experience only. This is because in India MBA is considered a way to become more employable or earn a fatter cheque. Whereas in the West, it is a means to upgrade your career and take it to new heights. The entire concept of MBA is at fault in India thereby this illogical strategy.
In my opinion, MBA candidates should have a work experience of at least 1 year, only then they can harness the MBA program to the fullest and not approach it just as a source of placements.
Can a 96 percentile in the CAT get admitted in XLRI or any IIMs?
For XLRI, you will have to appear in XAT. As for IIMs, the selection for admission varies depending on which category you belong to.
- General Category Male Engineers (GEM): You are most likely to get calls from the new IIMs. It is more or less the same for GEF except for the gender diversity points.
- General Category Non-Engineers: If you are from Arts background, expect a call from IIM A, B, C, even if you have only above 80% in 10/12/Undergrad. If you are a Commerce student you can expect a call from IIM I/K/S apart from the new IIMs.
- OBC/NCL Category: As the sectional cutoff is lower, you can expect a call from all IIMs except ABC if you are an engineer. Female and non-engineering students will have gender/academic diversity advantages.
- SC/ST Category: The required cutoff is fairly low for these two categories. But you will need decent past academics (at least 80%) to be eligible for top IIMs.
But these are only the minimum requirements to get a call for WAT-PI at these institutes. To be selected for admission, you will need to perform well in the WAT-PI round too as the competition will be fierce.
Will I be eligible for an MBA in A grade B schools like IIMs XLRI, NMIMS, JBIMS, etc., with scores of 90.6 in the 10th standard and 70 in the 12th standard?
As a candidate with a lower academic performance in the past, you are eligible for most of the business schools, except for a few, such as the Indian Institutes of Management in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, and Lucknow, which place a greater emphasis on previous academic records. However, XLRI is good news for you, as it does not consider your previous academics when shortlisting candidates. Additionally, SPJain may consider extending you a profile-based admission offer if your CAT score is at least 85 or higher and you have something unique in your profile. Other top business schools, such as NITIE Mumbai, MDI, and NMIMS, are easily within reach for you.
It is recommended that you focus on making the most of your current educational journey and not let your past academic performance impact your future opportunities. Aim to prepare well for the CAT exam, aiming for a top score, and accumulate as many quality resume points as possible to develop a unique and impressive profile for yourself. However, do not forget to live the life of an engineer, taking full advantage of your education. If you gain at least 2 years of work experience, you may consider taking the GMAT and applying to the Indian School of Business, which may consider extending you an admission offer.
How should I work on my profile to get an admission at XLRI?
Unlike admissions to B schools in other countries, Indian B schools place more importance on test scores than on a profile. So, the first step is to begin studying for the XAT. Here are some of the tips that you may find useful.
- The preparation would be comparable to that for the CAT, however, there is an additional section for decision making that you can learn from the official GMAT guide's Critical Reasoning portion. As all these portions are not included in the cutoffs, a little essay writing practice and brushing up on GK during the last few days would be beneficial.
- Continue to improve the GD-PI and communication skills, as you may not get enough time to prepare after the announcement of the interview date.
- As for the profile, NGO experiences can be useful during interviews.
- Make sure everything you claim is genuine since faking it in front of an experienced panel can backfire.
If you are working for a company, try to learn as much as possible because anything could be questioned during the interview, especially on the specialization you want to pursue at XLRI.
Are less than 60 btech graduates given admission in FMS Delhi,XLRI.XIM and JBIMS Mumbai?
FMS Delhi, XLRI, XIMB, and JBIMS are all highly regarded B-schools in India that offer postgraduate management programs. As these programs are PG courses so they require candidates to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

Although all these institutes try to keep the batch as diverse as possible still the ratio of B.Tech and non-B.Tech is highly skewed towards B.Tech. So, it is unlikely that less than 60 B.Tech graduates are admitted to these institutions. These institutions typically have a rigorous selection process, and the number of seats available is usually limited.

- General Management Program (GMP): The students seeking admission in the General Management Program of XLRI must have a UG Degree in the relevant discipline and a full-time job experience of 5 years.
- Business Management (BM): For admission in BM and HRM programs, students must have passed 3 years of Bachelor’s Degree exams from an AICTE recognized university and should have a work experience of 3 years.
XLRI accepts XAT or GMAT as its entrance exams for its PGDM programs, where the candidates are shortlisted based on their sectional and overall scores. The cut-off for XAT first round in the recent examinations was 96. Further, the selected candidates are required to undergo the GD and PI rounds, based on these rounds the final admissions are granted.

Can I get into IIM A/B/C or XLRI or SCMHRD?
Top management institutes in India like IIMs, XLRI, and SCMHRD require a combination of academic performance, entrance exam scores, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in selection rounds like Personal Interviews and Group discussions.
Top IIMs (A, B, C) have CAT cutoff percentiles of 99 or higher. XLRI's XAT cutoff is over 95 percentile, and SCMHRD's SNAP threshold is approximately 97 percentile. These cutoffs can change from year to year depending on factors including the number of applications and exam difficulty.
Academic performance is crucial but not the primary criterion for admittance. Admissions committees seek well-rounded applicants with leadership potential, great communication skills, and a demonstrated passion for the field. Thus, if an applicant excels in other areas, they can still get into a prestigious B-school despite poorer academics.
Top B-schools are competitive and require outstanding academic performance, high entrance exam scores, and strong applications.
How can a B.A. graduate (English language and literature) get admission in IIMs or XLRI?
Basically, for IIMs you need to appear for the CAT (Common Admission Test) exam which is the national level entrance exam conducted all over India.
- Usually, the dates with the entire notification regarding CAT release in the last week of August and the exam takes place normally in the last week of November or the first week of December.
- After the announcement of results in January, if you qualify for the cut-off score, you get a call from the IIMs for further group discussion and personal interviews.
- To get into XLRI, you need to appear for XAT by qualifying which means you can get admission in any of the XLRI among 11 institutes.
- This exam is usually conducted in January for getting admission in the institutes.

You must have done a bachelor’s with a minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline. The selection is based on the XAT/GMAT/GRE + Interview.
The application fee for MBA at XLRI is INR 300. These application fees have to be paid online on the official website of the college after the application form has been filled with all the details and documents.
XLRI - Xavier School of Management conducts the XAT exam for MBA admission. However, the registrations and exams are already done for the exam.
