Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it is considered to be among the top 5 courses in Indian MBA education. XLRI is just behind IIM ABC in terms of reputation and placements. Each section has max 60 students. So a faculty student ratio of 60:1 exists currently for each section/subject. Most of the faculty have undergone their PHDs/FPMs from top b schools such as IIM Ahmedabad,IIM Lucknow,IIM Calcutta,TISS etc. The teaching method is case based in most subjects with several components of evaluation including assignments and exams. A MBA year consist of 3 semesters of 2.5 months each with 7-8 subjects approx in each semester. Exams are very frequent and occur every other week. End term exams occur at the end of each term so on an average after every 2.5 months. Difficulty varies from professor to professor and subject to subject but the exams range from moderate to difficult.
Placement Experience
100% placements with around 30 lpa mean and median salary. Entire placement details can be seen in the following link : xlri.ac.in/recruiters/placement-details Major companies include Mckinsey,BCG,Bain,Kearney,TAS,HUL,ITC P&G etc. There is 100% placements in both summer internships and final placements. My plan is to go into product management or consulting.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is 30 lakhs for 2 months including hostel and mess fees. The fees is usually hiked by 1-2 lakhs after 3-4 years but may vary according to institute policy. The high fees is justified by the high placements and 30+ median and average salaries. Loans up to 40 lakhs without collateral are easily available from all leading Indian banks. A offer letter is all that is needed to get the loan. There are several scholarships awarded which are need and merit based. The details can be found in the following link: xlri.ac.in/newsroom/scholarship

Admission
Eligibility - Recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline. All the detailed information can be found in the link: xlri.ac.in / academic - programmes /admission - procedure/overview. php Admission is through the XAT exam conducted every year in December-January. Cut-offs vary each year - 2023's cutoffs can be accessed through this link : xlri.ac.in / newsroom/press - release/xat- 2023 - XLRI- Jamshedpur - announces - cut - off - percentile The admission process is a black box so you don't know the weightage of each component, unlike IIMs. So it can be made a bit more transparent in my opinion..
Interview Experience
No GD occurred in our year. Interviews were conducted online from mid Feb- mid March. There were separate interviews for both BM and HRM. Interviews were focused on situational questions. They gave 3 or 4 situations and saw how I think. They disagreed with my viewpoints citing some reasons and I had to give my own logic and arguments to support my answer. the main goal was to convince them of my viewpoint. For example they asked me to tell my views on the topic of whether automation was a boon or bane in the manufacturing industry. They also asked questions related to my work ex. Questions on my college acads were very basic. Major criteria for admission is XAT score,Interviews and past acads. The weightage is not specified by XLRI. I prepared by brushing up on current affairs. I had prepared answers for why MBA and most common HR questions. For past acads I picked 3 or 4 of my favourite subjects and checked the most commonly asked interview questions from this topics.
