Early morning classes and stiff leave policy. No.matter how sick you are, the leave policy is extremely rigid with no relief available
A certain lack of transparency regarding the placements policies and process.
The hunger for more students and contant construction on campus. All free and green spaces are used for more rooms constructed which just deteriorates the quality of life there.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE - XLRI HRM program is consistently ranked among the best in india
Campus Life - the campus is know for its vibrant culture for hosting numerous fest , club and extracurricular activities
Strong placement - the placement process is one of the highlights with major companies for consulting FMCG

Dislikes

Workload and pressure - the academic pressure of tight deadlines , continuous assessment and packed schedule is too much
Location - being here in Jamshedpur some students find location a bit remote conparted to other schools
EXPENSES - there are many expenses and some students have very high pressure for that

Focus on holistic development along with acads
Good culture and friendly professors having good industry connect
Placement support is very nice and good companies visit the campus

Dislikes

Connectivity is an issue, reaching Jamshedpur isn't that easy
Entry time in college is 11 PM and reaching later leads to fines so admin is a bit strict

Placement Experience:

- The placements are decent since the college has a good rapport in the corporate market - Bad market does affect the placements, but the college ensures that everyone has at least one offer before leaving the campus, and hence 100% placements happen always. - Highest packages go up to crores, however, the fixed and variable components differ. - Top recruiters are MBBAK consulting firms (all front end roles), JPMC IB, HUL, P&G, Tata Steel, Amazon, Microsoft, Walmart, Marico, HCL, Renew Power, DB, Vedanta, Castrol, NPCI etc etc

Life at XLRI

Likes

Great campus life. Everyone gets single rooms, so theres privacy and flexibility to fo things at your own pace.
Engagement activities in terms of fests, committees on campus. Everyone gets a chance to participate in varius events catering to their likes and dislikes.
The professors really lean into technologically advanced teaching resources abd methods usings google classrooms and teams classrooms. This streamlined the deadlines, required assignments and upcoming quizzes

Dislikes

A certain lack of transparency regarding the placements policies and process.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The HR course was quite comprehensive. Lots of subjects were dedicated to different functionalities of HR. Lots of focus on Law, and employee benefits, worker rights and employer responsibility. The course boasts of some of the stalwarts of the industry teaching different courses such as the Professor who teaches compensation is responsible for designing the compensation structure over at HUL. It's very comprehensive, and periodically reviewed to remain relevant to the changing times

XLRI HRM - In and Out

Faculty takes efforts to explain things to the students, by the help of activities and cases. The comprehensive evaluation is done with the help of frequent quizzes and submissions
The campus is beautiful with a lot of greenery and a number of eatery places. The cycles are provided by the administration to commute within the campus. The college is situated in the heart of the city.
The three batch culture ensures that when you come to college , the seniors help you out with CV making, academics and what not. The bond remains intact even after you leave the college.

Dislikes

The mess menu is a disaster. There is no planning whatsoever and they serve many unrelated things together. The diversity for the regional foods can not be seen in the menu.
Professors and Dean academics is very strict when it comes to attending classes. They sometimes ignore to listen to even the genuine reasons of students for not attending classes, and sometimes give a grade drop if attendance is short.
Girls hostel is separated from the boys and they have to walk a few steps in the open to come to mess. During rains, this becomes a dangerous path to walk on and many cases have been reported of injuries.

Placement Experience:

The students are interviewed for their summer internships right after the first semester. Some students secure a PPO. The rate is 30 percent. Then in the second year, the students sit for placements right after the fifth semester exams. The placement rate is 100 percent. The companies visited is around 120-150. The highest package is generally offered by a investment banking firm. The highest package is around 75 LPA. The average package is around 25 LPA. Everyone gets placed and the institute never ask anyone to sign out forcefully from the process. After getting the degree, almost everyone joins the firm he or she is placed in.

XLRI - Pros and Cons

Likes

Campus Life is amazing, lots of activities
Hostel Facility is clean and quite good.
Learning Environment and academic rigour

Dislikes

It's very hectic, sometimes you have to function on very little sleep
It is not very affordable, the fees is on the higher end
Syllabus could be slightly improved and should keep up with the times

Placement Experience:

The Summer Internship Placement Process happens in September to October of the first year. The lateral final placement process (for those students with required level of work experience) begins in November - December of the 2nd year. The common pool process ( for everyone else) is in January. 100% placements are typical

Campus life which is filled with events committee work and parties
Certain professors are extremely good at their job
The mix of crowd from all backgrounds which creates a diverse environment

Dislikes

Unnecessary restrictions imposed on adults like curfews after 11 pm. Lack of freedom to go out
Attendence criteria which is only 4 classes allowed to miss per subjectbin a trimester
Extremely competitive students which actually gets on your nerves

Placement Experience:

You get Summer internship placements as well as final placements. There is 100% placements every year and the highest package can be around 1 cr and lowest at 18 lakhs. This year due to market conditions, these figures can go down.

The classrooms are well equipped with state of the art infrastructure
There are multiple canteens in the campus serving till late night

Placement Experience:

XLRI provides both SIP and Final placement opportunities. The SIP process begins in the month of September and the final placements during the months of Dec-Feb. 100 percent of the students get placed. The highest stipend for the SIP 2024 was 3.5 lakh per month, the average being 1.5 lakh+.

Peers from diverse backgrounds, The ability to handle pressure and meet multiple deadlines

Dislikes

Overall not much to dislike. Mess food and medical facilities can be improved. Steps are being taken by the administration to do so.

Placement Experience:

100% placements with around 30 lpa mean and median salary. Entire placement details can be seen in the following link : xlri.ac.in/recruiters/placement-details Major companies include Mckinsey,BCG,Bain,Kearney,TAS,HUL,ITC P&G etc. There is 100% placements in both summer internships and final placements. My plan is to go into product management or consulting.

XLRI : The best HR college in Asia Pacific

Likes

Brand image of the college is very good. Every aspirant and industry veteran knows about it.
Alumni network or XL Mafia is very vast and helpful.
Campus Life is too good. Whole year is filled with student activities and parties.

Dislikes

It becomes humid during Summers so some people might not like it.
Unavailability of an airport in Jamshedpur causes inconvenience.
Few of the hostel room are small, so its not fair for the students living in them , but it hardly matters

Placement Experience:

SIPs happen in first sem. And final placement starts in the month of December. About 150 companies visit the college and placement is more than 100%. Highest package went around 1.1cr for (International) and 70L for domestic. Average package stoof around 32.7LPA. I am looking forward for an IR role.

Once you join XL you become healthy, wealthy and wise.

Likes

Great atmosphere and surrounding as whole campus is lush green.
Sports is taken very seriously here and you get to have top notch fields and indoor arenas.
The cultural part is what makes the XLRI different from IIMs as they don't have what it takes to be an XLer.

Dislikes

The outdoor area of jamshedpur is very small and the things to visit in jharkhand are less.
The weather in july and sept is very moist and bad.

Placement Experience:

The placements and internship opportunities are excellent here. After three months you get the summer internship and after the internship, some 50% get pre-placement offers and the rest are placed in their 5th semester. There is no one left behind without placements.

XLRI comes with its own unique culture as suggested by my brother. Unlike other institutes that are surrounded by annual rankings and business publications like the IIMs whereas XLRI is not like this.

The college has a small batch size as compared to the larger ones offered by other institutes.
If you are looking for a sprawling campus, XLRI does not have one. But, students tend to mix better and end up knowing quite a few people from senior and junior batches.
The alumni society here is very involved and active as compared to other B – schools.
There are also multiple parties that will help you boost your social life if you are into that.
XLRI will offer you a mix of study, exposure, and practice like premier B-Schools like IIM A, B, C.

Overall, the college will give you a sense of completeness as a family and everyone is ready to help if you ever need any. Of course, you are also expected to help them back in the future.
