XLRI doesnt have any kind of religion-based cut-off nor any reservation on caste-based. As XLRI is one of the most reputed colleges in India, the percentile required for non-christian is the same as for a Christian candidate. Cut-off depends totally on the performance you have done in your exam. Above 90% is required to appear in GD and PI and after that, you get your seat. No institute has based cut-off based on religion, castes in the world. In the Indian education system, no one can bias on the behalf of any caste, religion, sex, it all depends on your performance and your outcome will tell your future. Dont think about anything just focus on your studies make a strategy and implement it if you want to crack your exam.

There is no definite percentage of questions you need to clear in order to secure yourself a seat in XLRI or XIMB. The obvious answer is every year the question paper difficulty level varies and so does the percentile cutoff. Simply, your chances of getting a seat in both these institutes purely depend on your percentile just like JEE-Main rank is the criteria for national-level institutes. My friend took admission in XIMB in 2018, the scores of their batch were between 56.5 to 89 out of 150. Here the person scoring has 100% percentile whereas the person getting 88.5 will be close to 99% percentile. Hence, the percentile cutoff varies each year. For example, for admissions in 2019, the percentile cutoff was: XLRI Jamshedpur: BM – 91.25, HR – 88 (With Sectional Cutoffs) XIM Bhubaneswar: 94 (With sectional Cutoffs) Here are few tips to secure a high percentile in these exams: Focus on the accuracy of your answer. Do not just beat around the bush or select an answer which doesn’t hit the accuracy. Try to solve at least 60% of the total questions. For the rest, you can solve the ones you know properly. Always aim for the highest mark, you never know if you are the one having a 100% percentile. Therefore, thinking about percentile cutoff is in vain until the results are out. As the cutoff will totally depend on your performance, it is best recommended to focus on your performance in the exam. After all, your success depends on your hard work and fervour towards your goal.

Can I get into XLRI PGDM - GM with a GMAT score of 660 and with a work ex of 6+ years?

My cousin is in XLRIs PGDM program and he told me that his work experience in China helped him a lot as they value international experience. If youve volunteered with NGOs or did any form of social service in the past, then thatll definitely count. Overall, a strong application with some essays and recommendation letters will raise your chances of admission. You should be able to prove to them that what you do is extraordinary, that you are a natural leader. Once youve prepared your application, get a grammar check done by your friends with good English language skills. Keep working on your application. Substantiate your essays and videos with interesting anecdotes and highlight the accolades you have achieved in your career. Try to retake the GMAT exam and score 700 to be in the safe spot. Focus on your interview with these questions in mind- why MBA? What do you want to do after your MBA? Highlight your pre and post-MBA plans. XLRI will regard you highly if you are aware of India’s socio-economic issues and form your answers from an inclusive point of social welfare. Be updated on the deadlines. Wait for the list to come out. Submit the essays and video. I am sure youll get a call for GD and a personal interview. The difficulty arises from this point and youll be expected to have prepared extremely well for the interview.

Can a 96 percentile in the CAT get admitted in XLRI or any IIMs?

For XLRI, you will have to appear in XAT. As for IIMs, the selection for admission varies depending on which category you belong to. General Category Male Engineers (GEM): You are most likely to get calls from the new IIMs. It is more or less the same for GEF except for the gender diversity points. General Category Non-Engineers: If you are from Arts background, expect a call from IIM A, B, C, even if you have only above 80% in 10/12/Undergrad. If you are a Commerce student you can expect a call from IIM I/K/S apart from the new IIMs. OBC/NCL Category: As the sectional cutoff is lower, you can expect a call from all IIMs except ABC if you are an engineer. Female and non-engineering students will have gender/academic diversity advantages. SC/ST Category: The required cutoff is fairly low for these two categories. The XLRI legacy speaks for itself. The oldest B school comes with perks such a networks.
The XLRI culture- bonding of junior and senior batch.

Dislikes

The infrastructure is not yet developed.
The location is college is extremely inconsiderate- outskirts of city.

Admission:

XLRI is the oldest B-School in the country. I gave CAT, XAT and NMAT and converted a few new and baby IIMs from CAT and NMIMS, Mumbai from NMAT. XLRI was my last convert yet my best one. With terms of ranking, it was undoubtedly the best choice to make and I went for it.

Life at XLRI

Great campus life. Everyone gets single rooms, so theres privacy and flexibility to fo things at your own pace.
Engagement activities in terms of fests, committees on campus. Everyone gets a chance to participate in varius events catering to their likes and dislikes.

A certain lack of transparency regarding the placements policies and process.
The hunger for more students and contant construction on campus. All free and green spaces are used for more rooms constructed which just deteriorates the quality of life there.

Student Snaps:

The admission process was very smooth. I sat for XAT and scored around 90 percentile with my lowest sectional percentile in DM at 73 percentile which just crossed the sectional cutoff of 72 percentile. I got an interview call which I had to select the slot for. Once selected, and online meeting was scheduled, and on the day of the interview I had 3 panelists (all male). The interview lasted for about 20 mins with questions spanning from why MBA to hobbies, interests and some technical questions based on past work ex. Once the interviews concluded the results were announced under 2 months and I was wait listed. XAT was in some ways a tough exam to crack, especially the DM section. I have no real notes for improvement on the process. It was pretty smooth from my perspective

XLRI - Pros and Cons

Campus Life is amazing, lots of activities
Hostel Facility is clean and quite good.

It's very hectic, sometimes you have to function on very little sleep
It is not very affordable, the fees is on the higher end

Admission to XLRI is through the XAT exam which is conducted yearly, usually in the month of January. The application form is found on the website of XAT. XAT has lower cutoffs for women candidates and for those from non- engineering backgrounds. There is no caste based reservation system.

There was an entrance test called XAT. Then an SOP submission. Then a PI. There is no reservation benefits in XAT. It happens once a year. The application form is available on the website. From this year, there will be GD round also. GD and PI will happen offline.

My experience at XLRI Jamshedpur

The classrooms are well equipped with state of the art infrastructure
There are multiple canteens in the campus serving till late night

XLRI takes admission through the XAT examination followed by a GDPI. The overall cutoff for XAT is roughly around 95 percentile. This cutoff is the minimum eligibility for qualifying for the GDPI. The application fee is around 2000 INR and the form generally opens from June-July until the first week of December and the exam is held in the first week of January. Results are declared in January itself and the GDPI process begins from mid-February onwards. The final shortlist is declared in mid-April. Currently, there is no reservation system for admission to XLRI

Overall not much to dislike. Mess food and medical facilities can be improved. Steps are being taken by the administration to do so.

Eligibility - Recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration or equivalent in any discipline. XLRI : The best HR college in Asia Pacific

Brand image of the college is very good. Every aspirant and industry veteran knows about it.
Alumni network or XL Mafia is very vast and helpful.

It becomes humid during Summers so some people might not like it.
Unavailability of an airport in Jamshedpur causes inconvenience.

Any full time graduate can apply. Application forms are generally released in mid September to October with an application fees of 2200/-. Application closed by first week of December. There is no reservation in seats at XLRI. However, calls are given on lower cutoffs for reserved category.

Once you join XL you become healthy, wealthy and wise.

Great atmosphere and surrounding as whole campus is lush green.
Sports is taken very seriously here and you get to have top notch fields and indoor arenas.

The outdoor area of jamshedpur is very small and the things to visit in jharkhand are less.
The weather in july and sept is very moist and bad.

First, you have to give XAT exam and score marks above the cutoff released by XLRI Jamshedpur. The average cutoff is available online, but It fluctuates from 93% to 95%. After that, submit your SOP and be ready for PI. There is no GD.

Candidates need to appear for the XAT examination in order to get admission to XLRI. XAT exam consists of QA, DM, and VA as its sections in Paper-1. Also, it has GK and Essay in Paper-2. Candidates need to clear the sectional as well as the overall cut-off for both BM and HRM programs. The application form is available on the XLRI website and any person pursuing graduation is eligible for the examination. There is no reservation in XAT. The only segregation between candidates is made on the basis of gender and degree. The GK and Essay Writing is not considered while calculating the xat percentile. Post this, candidates are shortlisted for the PI process where candidates need to give separate interviews for BM and HRM programs.

Generally, the cut-offs are lower for a non-engineer female compared to other counterparts. The application form can be accessed through XLRI's official website or visit xatonline.in. Applications are generally open from September- October, and the exam is conducted in January. The fees vary depending on the number of programs you apply for. The cumulative application fee for the flagship courses Human Resource Management and Business Management is approximately INR 2400.
