- A huge campus of over 1055 acres and a good infrastructure.

Placement Experience:
After the end of 6 th semester, students need to submit the resume for the placements. At this time my senior placements are going on and they are much better. Like on first day half of the batch got placed. All the it sector company are there you can apply for. Highest package was around 2 cr and average was 25 lakhs. 70 to 80 percent of the students get placed, rest of the students either go for the masters or PhD or some other goal.
I am pretty sure after my degree completion i would get an average package but I just wanted to be a civil servant.

- Infrastructure is good. Clubs and societies are good with moderate engagement and pan india events
- Clean campus with accessible roads, big academic area with library and canteens
- Good accommodation and utility stores and canteens
Dislikes
- Academic culture and toxicity in clubs and societies
- Extreme harsh weather and the transition to hot and cold
- Just a developing city with less to no access to shops after 12 am
Placement Experience:
Placements are smoother if you fall in the group of top shortlistwd candidates. The credibility and easiness decreases by each day making it harder for non shortlisted students to acquire a chance to prove themselves despite of their academic records

- The faculty at IIT Kanpur is highly qualified, with many wonderful professors being experts in their fields. They are very humble and down to earth. you can always approach them for doubts or projects.
- The campus infrastructure is really good. The hostel facilities are wonderful providing high speed internet, spacious rooms to live in. The campus also has maintained classrooms. modern labs, libraries and research centers.
- There are numerous clubs, teams and councils providing opportunities for leadership and skill development. The placement cell at IIT Kanpur is also very effective, providing real- world exposure before graduation.
Dislikes
- The gender ratio at IIT Kanpur is skewed, with a low girls to boys ratio. Currently, the girl-boy ratio is 1:4. This occasionally impacts the diversity in certain programs or group activities. The situation is gradually improving as more females come
- The academic workload can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when you have a lot of courses in which you have to excel as well as multiple projects. The focus on theoretical knowledge can sometimes outweigh the practical applications in courses
- While student engagement is high, the campus life can sometimes feel isolated with a limited number of social events that bring together the entire student body. The students that are far from home, and they start missing their family
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for campus placements starting from 7th semester of their UG program. IIT Kanpur attracts top tier companies accross multiple sectors including tech, finance, consulting, core and research roles. Major companies visit IIT Kanpur like Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, Intel, McKinsey, BCG, ONGC, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, Reliance Industries,JP Morgan, Flipkart and many more.
The highest package came from international offers with salaries ranging upto 1-.5-2 crore per annum for roles in tech, finance and consuting. The average package across all sectors hovers around 15-20 lakhs per annum.
The placement rate at IIT Kanpur is typically very high with aroung 85-95% of students securing jobs through campus placements, depending on the department and year. For highly sought after branches like CSE and EE the placement rate approaches 100%.
My plans after completing the degree involve exploring further academic opportunites particularly in research or pursuing a PhD in ES

- The academic environment is very challenging, after facing this academic challenge you will feel like you can overcome the any situation in your life.
- The faculties of the campus are very helping. Counseling service is very good.
- Campus provides internship opportunities and placement opportunities.
Dislikes
- The fees are very high. So many restrictions after getting lower grades.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The Faculties of iit Kanpur are very approachable so are my course faculties. I like the course content, so many opportunities for research students. Institute should give a break after mid mid-semester exams instead of that they continue classes which are very overwhelming. The difficulty level always remains unexpected.

- THERE IS NOT MUCH WHICH I DISLIKED BCZ THIS IS WHY IIT IS FAMOUS FOR BIT 10 % OF STUDENTS ADDICED TO DRINKS AND ALL I THINK ITS COMMON IN ALL COLLEGES
- ACADEMICS BRO ITS VARY THOUGH FOR ADJUSTING BUT GOING THROUGH HARD ACEDEMICS YOU WILL BE SUCESSFUL IN CAREAR
Placement Experience:
THIS COLLEGE HAVE A SENATE FOR PLACEMENT IN WHICH THERE WILL BE A PRESIDENT AND OTHER SCEYS, HERE PLACEMENT OCCURS FOR A 1-2 MONTHS IN TWO SESSIONS,ITS ALLUMINI HAVE A GREAT UPPOT IN PLACE MENT SERVICE THERE ARE CLUBS FOR DEVELOPING THE REALATIONS WITH ALLUMINIS

Placement are good .As if my department has recently added so can say only that max package was 16lpa and hope for more better placements of our seniors . So yaa placement are good here can be said so doesn't matter .

Placement Experience:
The placements of my college are amzing with a stunning average of 15 lak per annum. The maximum package goes upto 4 cr and many students get ppos worth crores. Almost every leading company in india visits IITK for intern and placement season

- The college is too green. Lot's of places are left vacant.
- The campus life is great and it's having nice people to interact with.
- The faculties are very much supportive and having good teaching methods.
Dislikes
- The course curriculum is too hectic and regouros.
- The campus is quite big to travel. It takes time to travel anywhere in between the campus even.
- The library need to be opened 24/7 as of the requirements.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The course curriculum is good enough. As I'm in aerospace it's having good facilities at IITK. They have many laboratories along with flight strip, National Wind Tunnel Facility (NWTF) which give good exposure in practicals too.

- The best thing about IITK that seperates it from other IIT's is the amount of freedom; many courses have no attendance policy, there are no time restrictions in campus, boys can stay in girls hostel and vice versa(except 12-6 am)
- The quality of the hostel for freshers(hall 13) is top notch, too good mess, wifi speed is so good. In first year, the courses are commmon for everyone and the relevance of the courses is such that students get exposure of various branches
- Complete college is run by student bodies. The role of professors in our college is to come and just teach in class, rest each and every part from college admission to fests to placements everything is student led
Dislikes
- The freshers hostel and hall 12 is very good but the quality of other halls which are mostly old since 90's is not upto the mark. Like there's problem of insects, wifi, room space, water
Placement Experience:
There are 2 things- Internships and Placements. internship tests are during start of your 3rd year and 2 go for internships at start of 4th year. For placement you have it at the end of your 4th year. Around 400/1200 get placed in internships and around 800 get placed on campus. On day 1 you get top companies for internships as well as placements such as Microsoft, google, quadeye,jlr,goldmann saccs, itc,optiver top companies offer intern of around 4-5 lakh per month with all expenditures and for placements top companies give around 50 lpa. Those who are not placed on campus apply off campus on the basis of their resume and skills, the college has ANC council which provides addition intern and placement opportunities apart from the companies on campus and also there are enough POR's to build ur skills and resume

After sixth semester from seventh semester onwards students become eligible for placements.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.
