- Things that I like is that the mess food after 1st year is very good as compare to other IIT's.
- In the college there are many clubs and socities in which you can participate according to your nich.
- The campus is very big and the greenery is also there which I like most.
Dislikes
- The hostels after the first is year is not good although some hostels is good but not all.
- If you are in the college you will find the water is not available easily this is the worst thing.
- The academic is hectic really the academic is not easy in iit kanpur.
Placement Experience:
Placemets of 2024 means y20 batch is not good because of recassion and skill gap due to online studying and the placements starts after 7th semester in december. Few companies which I remembered is Texas Instrument gave 11 offers and the ctc was 42 lpa. Similarly SAP labs, samsung, intel, NVIDIA and many others. Highest package was 2.2 crore by Optiver for the High Frequency Treding profile generaly the highest offers given by the quant companies. The overall average was arround somethind 19lpa. Usually 85 to 90 % students placed but in 2024 only 60% students placed.

- Campus culture - The culture brings the students together. The Amma-Baapu culture, interhall competitions and the way seniors and juniors interact is awesome, especially because the students come to the campus leaving their homes.
- We get many facilities at the campus. The healthcare is free and we have good counsellors at IITK. The labs are wel equipped, infrastructure is good, the library is awesome and academic area has AC.
- The professors are well qualified and the course templates are flexible and can be modified by the students.
Dislikes
- Gradings of some professors make the courses stressful.
- Hostels do not have enough space to accommodate the students.
Placement Experience:
The average package this year was 26.27 LPA. Students can register around the 7th semester and can apply only once.
Highest package was 4 cr/lpa. The placement percentage is around 80%.
But many students plan for masters and I too plan for masters from a foreign university.

- Here, there is so much freedom, u can roam anywhere in campus at any time, its like a home of 1k acres to me

- Academic pressure is a bit high, average cpi less than other iits

Placement are decent in my college 35 lakh pa average for my branch. And highest get 3 crores pa

- Great facilities be it medical, sports as well as in terms of high quality education.
- Great academic flexibility, you can choose courses according to your interests.
Dislikes
- Things become hectic as course curriculum is very tough.
- Very highly competitive environment due to which you cannot take a breath of chill.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The curriculum becomes very tough at times. It may seem easy at the beginning but trust me at the time of endsems it becomes tough as hell. And again it depend on courses as well. Some courses are very useful in real world applications where others are just to open new dimensions of your thinking. Exams again depend on faculty, some may take quiz every week while others may take total of 2-4 quizzes during whole sem along with midsem endsem.

- Campus is super clean and hygienic.You will not see even slightest of dust on road and no noise of horns.
- Some canteens are open 24×7 and food are available in reasonable prices.And staffs are friendly too.

- You may get bored during orientation as it goes upto 10 days.But after it ends you will remember that day.
- Acads are slightly tougher than other colleges around.You may have to study much more.

Course Curriculum Overview:
Course is relevant but it maybe little bit hectic in starting. Maths courses are lot theoretical than JEE where you only have to calculate and no matter how.
Here you have to write a mathematical essay on a question and essay should be to the point too

- Very good facilities for self studies like places such as library cc ncl

- The mailing system as we cannot be get sure that the person has received
- The leave approval system because of which sometimes genuine reason leave also get cancelled
- Less transportation facility inside campus
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for the campus placement after 7th semester. Quite renowned companies visits such as google microsoft j p Morgan and gols sacman. Percentage of students getting placed is very nice almost equal to 85%.

- Well infrastructured, Air conditioned class rooms, and libraries, computer center available for students 24/7.
- Campus life, sports facilities , indoor games aswell.
- Highly educated proffesors mostly eho have done their phd in foriegn countries. All topics are covered in english.
Dislikes
- Food problem, the food is very hygenic but there is no taste.
- There will be a language problem for south indians if they don't know hindi
- Sports facilites are available for only who are already trained.
Placement Experience:
After 6 th semester students are eligible to sit in campus placements.
The companies are like Amazon, google, goldmann sachs etc,.
Highest package is around 40 lakhs and the average package is 15 lakhs.
70% of the students are getting placed in campus placements.
My plan after degree is to join biotechnology company.

- Not at all any thing that I don't like , everything here is wonderful
Placement Experience:
In IIT kanpur placement are really good and the average package is 2800000/- pa. During the 8 semester students gets to sit in the placement drive and there are lots of which come for campus placement like google, Amazon, hfts' and many mncs.
About 80% students always get placed in placement

- College environment and coding culture .
- Sports are prioritise too in this college.

- Engineering graphics and ethics type of irrelevant courses
- Grading system is pretty bad and totally in hands of professor
- Average hostels room and mess food quality.

From 7th semester students will be eligible for campus placement
Many top companies visited this year and more than 1200 offers made this year till now. FAANG visited this college
Highest is 4Cr and Average is around 24LPA
Around 60% of the student placed this year which is way lesser than 100% of last year
My plans after degree is doing masters

If we left the expection case when there is recession or wor in world that effect Indian Business also , IITK gives record 100% placesments. Here a numbers of companies comes like google , microsoft , infosis, tata , amazon , flipcard, accenture, tower , Goldman sachs , reliance etc. My plan to take placement after completing my degree.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
