Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

Department of management studies IIT Madras- a review

Likes

The IIT ecosystem, opportunities to learn and grow.
The academic excellence, the research scenario, curriculum.
Placements and career opportunities are decent

Dislikes

Small batch size and alumni network is an issue
The focus is more on theoretical side of things
Placements is common for Tech MBA, MBA and MS program of the department

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities are decent summer internship program starts from the next month of you joining College in July the company start coming in interview starts happening and internships begin in May next year similarly final placements start from October and by December they usually end multiple good companies like Deloitte visit the campus. IIT Madras has been offering 100% placements continuously for the past few years and average CTC has been increasing rapidly over the past years

Placement Experience:

Top recruiters participated in the push for our MBA class, including McKinsey, Accenture, Dell, EMCO, RBS, CHALO, GE, CISCO, Amazon, IBM, and HCL. My cohort received employment offers from 24 leading firms, resulting in a placement rate of 100 percent. My batch's average compensation package was about 14.4 lakhs, with the highest salary package above 22 lakhs which was acceptable from here.

My college’s fully staffed Career Management Center, helped me to prepare for and seek internships, as well as post-graduation employment. All through the placement semester, I had the opportunity to make relationships with final year students, who were simply batchmates who aided me greatly in this difficult process. Furthermore, the Job and Placement Centre supported us by properly educating all of us prior to bringing together people into the market as better professionals and individuals who contribute considerably to the. Almost everyone in my batch was hired for 4 lakhs. During our MBA location search, the real significant recruiters were McKinsey, Accenture, Dell, Amazon, APPLE, and HCL.

Our University has a best placement team and recruiters were in our batch, with over half of them being new. PeopleStrong, Cadila Pharmaceuticals, and IBM were the top recruiters in terms of offer conditions, with INR 26.5 LPA being the highest remuneration for our program. I got the interview cell guidance for the placement.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
