IIT Madras BS Data Science and Applications: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Fees in the IIT Madras BS program do not stay the same every year because the program runs term-wise. The main payment happens when courses are registered in a term, so the yearly total depends on how many courses are taken that year. If more courses are taken to finish faster, that year’s fee becomes higher. If fewer courses are taken due to time or other commitments, the yearly fee becomes lower, but the degree takes longer. For overall fees by goal: Foundation Only is ?48,000; Foundation + One Diploma is ?1,29,000; Foundation + Two Diplomas is ?2,10,000. The BSc Degree total is around ?2,86,000–?3,10,000 and the BS Degree total is around ?3,86,000–?4,50,000. There is also a one-time registration fee of ?3,000. Batchmates in other categories also don’t pay one fixed amount. After the qualifier, fee waivers can apply to any category based on family income and documents, so eligible students pay less. In general, income above 5 LPA usually means no support for General/OBC, while SC/ST and PwD may still get ~50% (SC/ST+PwD up to ~75%). For 1–5 LPA, support is often ~50%, and for 1 LPA or below, it is commonly ~75%.

Year-wise fees are not fixed like a normal college because the IIT Madras BS program works term-wise. In IIT Madras BS, the final amount usually depends more on need-based fee support than just the category tag. In general, if family income is above 5 LPA,General/OBC students don’t get support,while SC/ST and PwD students can still get support around 50%,and SC/ST+PwD can go up to about 75%.If income is between 1–5 LPA,many students across categories get around 50% support after submitting the right certificates.If income is 1 LPA or below,support is commonly around 75%.

The IIT Madras BS in data science and applications follows a flexible pay per level fee structure. The course has four levels : Foundation level, diploma level, bsc level and lastly bs level. Year wise fee structure is : Foundation level : 64000 Diploma level : 110000-120000 Bsc level : 110000-120000 Fee has gradually increased. For example foundation level costs ?30k/ term , now it's 32k + other charges like registration, caution deposit and exam fees are included in term fees. As it's an online program so no need for hostel and mess. Category wise variations Sc students get upto 75% fee waiver Pwd students with higher aid available

Combined fee for full course is 3.8 lakhs , for 1 year it would be around 36k and then for second year it would 1.2 lakhs and 3rd year it would be 1.4 lakhs and for final year it would around 80k I am not accurate actually.

For first year it is 32000 for second its 1.2 lakh and increase for 3 and 4th year. I also get scholarship so me fee reduced to 50% because my family income is less than 5lakh , and also in second year i got 10k extra scholarship. For st sc and obc with income less than 1lakh.

Fee is different for each year for first year it is 4k per subject in second year it is 10k per subject and increase for 3 and 4th year, student get scholarship too if family income is less than 1 lakh they will get 75% off and if family income is less than 5 lakh they will get 50% (for St sc obc and ews)

Rajistration fees is RS 3000 one time payment and the college fees varies from first year to fourth year. first year fees is RS 33000 and upto fourth year it is RS 351000 there are 75% fees wavier are also applicable for eligible students whos income is less then 5lakh, and OBC or SC/ST category. bus fees, lab fees etc is not applicable as the degree is remote degree and comes under digital education. The course is too much affordable to me because I am eligible for fee wavier.

This course is designed in 5 levels each having different fee structure. 1st level that is foundation level has fees of total 32000 rupees, 2 diplomas cost around rupees 125000, BSc around 150000 and with BS degree overall, total fees becomes around 350000. Reservations have fess benifits, 50% for OBC NCL and SC/ST and 75% if annual income is less than 1lpa. So total fees for this entire program is 3.5 lakh and you have to pay it as per your level.

The iit madras bs degree in data science follows a pay-per-course model , with total fees ranging from 200000 to 300000 based on the pace of completion and category. Foundation level courses cost 4000 - 12000 per couse, while deploma and degree level course range from 10000- 20000 per course. Additional chrges include a one-time registraiton free of 1000, and exam fee of 1000 per couse and a refundable caution deposit of 2000. Scholarships like merit-cum-means (up to 75% reduction) make the program affordable for eligible students. The program's fee structure is affordable and inclusive ,with no other hidden costs or significant annual increases.
