IIT Madras Placement report 2025 has been released for various programs. As per the DOMS (Department of Management Studies) Placement Report 2025, the highest package stood at INR 35.5 LPA, while for the Tech MBA batch, the highest package stood at 81 LPA. The top recruiters included Accenture, Deloitte, Cognizant, ICICI Bank, Flipkart, Grant Thornton, etc.

As per the IIT Madras NIRF 2025 report, the median package for UG (4-year) was INR 17.50 LPA and for UG (5-year) was INR 19.40 LPA in 2024. Further, the median packages for PG (2-year) and PG (3-year) were INR 12.90 LPA and INR 12.25 LPA, respectively, in 2024.

Apollo Hospital to Greens and many medical and hospital which are engaged in hospitals or building technology that supports it. Our course is still not that old and in the batches that have passed out so far, I think the average stands at some 10 lakhs or so.

The placement opportunities are plenty at IITM. Since I am in my first year, I don't know much about placements but I have heard that top companies around the world come for placements. Biotechnology is rooted in Biology, not Mathematics or Analytics. If you are even remotely interested in Biology, you’ll easily understand the courses. Else, you’ll struggle in this branch. Biotech has a lot of opportunities in research.

IIT Madras Biotech will give you some industry exposure too. You’ll get equal opportunities as other branch students for non core sectors (finance, economics, consulting, analytics, management, coding, etc.). But the opportunities are very limited for core jobs.

The placement procedure of IIT Madras involves various steps. Some of them have been listed below

You must first register on the placement portal and provide all necessary information.
5 different resumes verified by the placement team are then submitted.
The companies then register on the portal displaying the job profiles offered and also mentioning the deadline for resume submission.
The students go through the profiles and upload one of the 5 resumes.
Some companies shortlist students solely based on resumes while some have other screening rounds.
The list containing the names of students shortlisted for interviews is released. These are around 20-40 while some are around 100 and first go through the GD round.
Interviews start around 1st December and results are usually announced on the same day.

The campus placements of most IITs are superior to other Engineering colleges. The new IITs have fewer companies in comparison to the older IITs yet the payscale of IITs, in general, is very good.

IIT Madras gives more importance to Day-wise placements but I feel one should look for matching profiles instead. This is because there is a major chunk of good companies visiting the campus on later days as well. The slotting system at IITM does not give equal importance to the profile of the company as it gives to the number of positions any company is willing to take and the packages they are offering.

The best part of the placement season is the harmony between the juniors and seniors who provide a lot of assistance during placements. You will see a frenzy of students helping each other even without knowing each other.

IIT Madras offers the best campus selections with an abundance of good roles and packages.

How are placements for Btech at IIT Madras?

The median package offered to the B.Tech. students is INR 18 lacs per annum. There were more than 400 companies which placed B.Tech. students. Bajaj Auto, Cetak, TCS, Reliance, Qualcomm, Amazon, EY India are the major recruiters of B.Tech. program.

Last year, around 407 students were awarded preplacement offers and 25 candidates received an offer of salary package of 1 crore per annum. Some of the top recruiters was Texas Instruments, Bajaj Auto Ltd, Cetak Ltd, Qualcomm, Amazon, EY India, Reliance, TCS, etc.

The highest CTC (Cost to Company) package offered to IIT Madras student was INR 1.31 crore per year. The lowest package offered was INR 5.4 lacs per year. There were 172 offers made which were above 30 lacs. The popular recruiters include American Express, Cogoport, Linecraft, AI and Sap Labs.

Last year, almost 15% of students were placed in the first round of placement. They are offered an average income of 19 lakh after selection. Post graduate student received a number of international offers. It is ranked 285 in the QS World University Rankings 2023.
