There are open canteens which are open 24X7 and are helpful for the students who are hungry during night.

The mess food of our college is not so good.

Hostel Facilities:

In room ,we get one normal sized bed, one wadrobe, one balcony andother common connections and equipments. The room i sdouble sharing. Meal is served 4 times a day and the mess food is okayish. Students may live in hostel or be a day scholar.

IIT Madras is magnificent!!

Hostel Facilities:

Our hostels are good and there are four girls hostel in all. I live in Swarnamukhi hostel which is a two seater non AC hostel. The fees is just 16k a semester and 24k for the mess. Washrooms and mess are common but rooms are sufficient in size.

Rooms do not have AC. 1/2/3 sharing rooms as per hostel Hostel are named as per rivers in India. Mess quality is good , people have choice to opt of North mess( veg, nonveg) , south mess ( veg, nonveg) And foodcourt. Menus are healthy enough to survive in this campus

IIT Madras - How's it

Hostel Facilities:

There's a desk, chair, a cupboard and a bed. And an overside cabinet. And 2 or 3 electric sockets. And fans and lights too. Most of the rooms will have an attached balcony which you can use for drying clothes. Mess quality is decent. Menu requires some change. Lately they've reduced the number of North Indian non veg messes, and that's a concern. Registration starts from like the end of July where there's document verification and roll number is assigned. I think hostels and mess is quiet affordable if you're not opting for eating outside. I'm a hostel student but there are rooms right outside taramani gate for rent and pg students

Here hostels were also maintained neatly and good accomidation Facilities provided are there will be 24/7 current,water and wifi also. That to we can have single rooms also. Meal was some what good and the menu changes day to day that to there is availability of non veg also We can register our hostel through online process and amount was 37,000 for both hostel and mess. I am not rented in any room or PG hostels

Mess food is not up to the mark. I skip mess food atleast once a day.

Hostel Facilities:

A single room with cupboard, table, ceiling fan, chair are provided with 3 sockets in room. Wifi port is also provided for every room for 24 hr wifi. The meel quality is very low that cannot eat more than 1 month but have to eat 4 years. The menu is good, the quantity is also good but the food doesn't taste any better. Every month a mail is circulated to change the mess hall to experience various menu like South and North Menu.

The hostel rooms are provided with a bed, an almirah to keep clothes, a study table, and a chair. All the windows are covered with mosquito nets. The food is not up to the expectations of the northern people. Every month we have to register for the mess there are 11 mess halls combined in total and students can choose any mess hall upon availability. Students of every year get allocated to different hostels which are allotted by the administrative office.

The rooms are allocated on the basis of year and program you are pursuing. First-year college students are housed in dormitories with double occupancy. You could receive a single, double, or triple room starting in your third year. Whereas all the PG students are provided with single rooms

The rooms are generously sized and equipped with LAN connections for internet use. With washing machines, urinals, and several toilet and bathing stalls, each hostel wing features a communal set of toilets that are used by about 8 rooms.

Few important rules and regulation that needs to be followed by the hostellers are as follows

Both within and beyond the campus, residents are expected to treat everyone with respect and fairness.
Institute Identity Cards must be carried by all residents at all times and shown upon request.
Before 11:00 p.m., all residents are required to return to their hostels. The relevant Warden may give permission for a late arrival.
The Hostel Office and/or Assistant Warden must be notified of any civil and electrical concerns for resolution.
Unauthorised, unauthorised, or pirated films should not be shown to the pupils.
Before granting a No Dues Certificate, the Hostel Office must verify the room inventory
Furniture and other fittings cannot be transported from one location to another.
Defacing of shelves, doors, windows, or walls is prohibited, including the tacking of posters. In the event of a violation, a fine proportionate to the damage will be assessed.
Ragging is a crime that will result in expulsion from the Institute and endorsement in the records, according to the Honourable Supreme Court's verdict.
It is completely forbidden to possess, use or consume alcohol, tobacco or narcotic narcotics on hostel property or to enter the building while inebriated. Expulsion/rustication from a hostel or institution may be a part of a disciplinary action.
No strange activities of any kind that disturb the neighbours should be done in the room.
Residents shall not engage in any unsavoury, anti-social, or nationalistic activity.

Godavari Hostel: - It is situated right opposite the Himalaya mess and it also has a garden in front of it. During the nights it provides excellent views of the city and the whole vibe of the place and makes it more comforting. It does not have a bus stop, however, it is close to Jamuna bus stop. Moreover, you can get buses from stops such as Gurunath which is the closest hostel, or the Taramani Gate.
Jamuna Hostel: - Jamuna is the starting point of the bus services which runs through the entire premise. Jamuna Hostel also has the newest eateries and has a whole bunch of shops to choose where to get your snacks from.

Post Graduate (PG) students including those pursuing MS/M.Tech generally stays in the following hostels - Brahmaputra; Pampa; Mahanadi; Tambi; Sindhu; Krishna; Cauvery; Sarayu (Girls); and Sabarmati (Girls)

Krishna and Cauvery have mostly research scholars. They also have their own mess. Others can select any one of the 6 different caterers of the Himalaya mess. On average, they have 1 food court, 3 South Indians, 1 North Indian, and 1 girl's mess. Girls are allowed to dine with the boys but not vice-versa. There are also many vending machines in some hostels to sell snacks and cold drinks.

The campus also has a restaurant, Zaitoon, which offers both North Indian as well as South Indian food in both veg and non-veg forms. They also offer online ordering and room delivery services. Other than that IRCTC canteen offers you food 24/7. You may even venture outside.

At IIT Madras, there are total 20 hostels among which 5 are for female and 15 are for male candidates. UG students get sharing accommodation whereas PG students gets both sharing or single accommodation. Students will get various hostel facilities such as library, garden, sport facilities and others.
