The reporting for admission is scheduled on July 20, 2026, followed by the orientation programme on July 22, 2026. The academic session will officially commence with the start of classes on July 27, 2026.

IIT Madras has commenced the online registration process for M.Tech and M.A. programmes for the academic session 2026. Eligible candidates can apply through the official website, iitm.ac.in, with the application window open from March 28 to April 27, 2026.
The institute offers 34 M.Tech programmes across 18 departments and four M.A. programmes in Development Studies, Economics, English Studies, and Public Policy.
The application fee is ₹600 for General category candidates and ₹300 for SC/ST/PwD/Female candidates. IIT Madras also offers financial assistance through the Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA), providing ₹12,400 per month to eligible students for up to 22 months.
