Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

Experience in IITM online BS Degree

Likes

I liked the course content, the user experience on website
I liked the engagement of the faculty, even being in online mode, teachers are doing their best to provide best of the best
I liked the low fees and the freedom to opt any other online or offline course along with the current course

Dislikes

It would we great if they provided us with option to visit campus during festivals and exams

Placement Experience:

Placements are good, as the degree is completely online, but it is nowhere mentioned in the certificate, IIT helps one to get good package in Data Science fields, maybe the college does not provide placemnts, but students have gotten in big companies through off-campus placements

Everything you need to know about IIT Madras

Likes

At very first, you get a chance to be an IITian without JEE. This makes you understand the level of IIT
Secondly, there is total flexibility given to students. You can watch recorded lectures at your own convenience whenever you want.
Talking about placements. IIT have their own placement cell for placement assistance. And very renowned companies are part of it.

Dislikes

Although they have tried there best to make it engaging and interactive but I feel there could be more done to keep students much more involved.
Some would see it as a pros but I feel this could be a con. There is no minimum attendance required. It's your wish you attend or you don't the classes.

Placement Experience:

From 3rd year onwards students can be part of placement assistance. Moreover, throughout four years you receive offers for internships. As it is a new degree so no official data is avaliable on name of companies and no. of offers. However, though sources it is shared that avergae package range around 15- 20 lakhs per annum. I plan to do my masters in data science from some American University.

I like how all the professor and TAs get indulge with students in improving there academics
House system give great opportunity for socializing with other peers and take part in activity

Placement Experience:

After completing one diploma you can apply for internships and after your 3rd year, you can apply for the placement while going on with your last year. You need atleast 8+ cgpa to get the placement. The package is also quite well

Great opportunity in field of data science

The mode of study in the course is online , you can study as you are suitable
The exam mode is done offline , In the exam centers nearby
The faculty of teachers is very prestigious and they are the top professors of india

Dislikes

This course is online , doesn't have a touch
This course needs a consistency to complete it with in time
The subjects in this course are much harder than the normal colleges course

Placement Experience:

I.I.T madras also provide placement and internship assistance, they provide on campus placements and also gives training for the placement and internship , there are many companies like tcs , nissan group , tiger analytics etc which approachs students for placement.

The faculties are very much experienced, as it is an IIT. Their teaching methodology is also very good as they have a practical and example based approach.
The lectures provided in the portal are easy to access. They are uploaded in a systematic way.
We are doing this course in online but still we have our separate houses. Many types of clubs are also there which enhances the extra curricular activities of students.

Dislikes

This program is little bit lengthy to complete, because the minimum time to complete this program is 4 yrs and it could also take as long as 8 yrs.
There are not much live classes to do in this course as we have got recorded lectures.
We did not get campus access as it is an online degree.

Placement Experience:

This course offers internships from 2nd year and placements from 3 year itself. Till now the bs students are not graduated , so there is no data of placements. But it is very relevant in the job market because data science is currently in a boom in the market. After college you could go for masters or PhD orelse you can apply for gate Da paper.

Dislikes

Lecture are made very boring, they can enhance them more
We get only mcq's in our exams, we need some descriptives
Study material is available online only.

I have been attending classes online of data science, it's quite good experience
The faculty are pretty good they taught us the best
Curriculum of this course is good , specially this course is designed for it

Dislikes

As this course is online, so you have attend online video lectures on laptop and u know screentime increases

Placement Experience:

Placement is very good for jee advanced students but this course is not btech , this bs in data science They is separate placement cell for ds students and we are pretty sure about good placement if you have skill and good cgpa

Our Placements are going good But not that much.If u are completing this course u are eligible for all type of govt. exams.So u can choose that. Or u can search for job through third party sources like linkedin

Review about IITM BS degree in Data Science and Programming

Placements of IIT Madras is obviously good as it is IIT and also provide intership opportunity from the second year. Average package are currently 15 lakh per annum but surely as it is a new degree it will increase with time and crore package will .
Also we are getting the access of campus and the main thing for which IIT is know because of its students, so will be getting brainstorming session with top brains in the country. Also after meeting then we get so much to explore as they will startup
And facilities provided in the campus is a lot more then what fees they have taken.

Dislikes

Too much big campus, you will need to purchase cycle for you daily chores.
As it is in Chennai so outside campus all people are tamil speaking.
Weather of south India too much humidity is there .

Placement Experience:

It's IIT so first of all placements are guaranteed itself, since it's a new course packages are not going that much high like regular students of BTech program but within two-three year it will match those standard as it's a demanding skill and growing industry. Also after this many students are planing for Gate exam as it's syllabus exactly matches with our curriculum for GATE DA paper .

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
