Placements are good but in this year due to recession there is decreased in placements . offers are good and there will good number of companies visited .
The faculty of indian institute of technology bhubaneswar are highly qualified faculty with phd the professors are really amazing at teaching.
Tution fee is around 114000 scholarships like fee remission and merit based are available for all students undertakings like fest management and societies are present for those who are interested in extra curricular activities.

Dislikes

Probably i don't have much things to dislike here but still i find lot of difficulties which conveying anything to an odia people.
The criteria of 75 percent attendance. this is the bitter truth that almost everyone hate this. but nobody can do anything right!
It's difficult a bit in cracking exam and 2nd year subjects need some more concentration to crack the exam.

Likes

the hostels are pretty clean and we get single occupancy rooms
the eateries have affordable food and are near the hostels and academic areas
there is no ragging in the campus ...its a ragging free campus

Dislikes

faculty dont teach well ...many times they just speed up the course at the end
the girls to boys ration is less compared to other IITs
Cultural diversity is less too many people from telengana and andhrapradesh

Placement Experience:

placements are average...not feels like an iit but its ok ...this yaer percentage of placement was 90% and highest ctc was of 67.4 LPA with median of 12LPA and average of 17 LPA ...most of the placements for SDE roles. My plan is to finish my degree as soon as possible and get placed for a SDE role so that i can survive

Likes

Vibrant Campus Life with all types of modern amenities
Strict anti ragging rules and regulation makes IIT Bhubaneswar campus a ragging free environment.
Single occupancy Hostel rooms, fully air conditioned classrooms, 24X7 Internet connectivity

Dislikes

Lack of cheap transportation, there is a auto stand outside college main gate and also state buses operates but no 24X7 cheap transportation is available.
Lack of beautification in the campus: There is no such beautiful gardens or parks inside the campus

Placement Experience:

The placement stats of IIT Bhubaneswar are quite good. For the 2025 placement season, the highest CTC was 67.6 LPA and the mean CTC was 14.5 LPA, with a total of 22 PPO offers. Approximately 90% students were placed this year. Major recruiters were Google, Oracle, Zomato, Goldman Sachs, NVIDIA and Meesho. This year, there were 5 international offers (4 from Accenture Japan and 1 core offer from Niterra Japan).

My college review

Likes

College campus is beautiful and very large. Everything u needed is always present there. It is full of greenery also.
It has three girls hostel and three boys hostels which are far away seperate from each other.
Big library as well as all sports facilities are also there

Dislikes

U have to walk a lot to reach your classrooms from your college
Not much developed placement opportunities
Morning timings for class are too early.

Placement Experience:

Good placement opportunity are here jn this campus. Average package is about 60 to 70 lpa. About 50%students get placed in these placements. Conoanirs like amazon, Microsoft, google cone for placements here. After getting this degree, i am thinking of becoming a UPSC aspirant.

college life

Likes

the environment and the canteens are there in the campus.
the friends and professors in the college.
the gym and sports activities with friends.

Dislikes

the food on some of the days in the week.
the climatic conditions in the summer due to humidity.
nothing much that I have disliked in the campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course and curriculum is good , it has many pros and cons. but I recommend the upcoming students to choose the course as per their wish. not just by seeing some random seniors. and there will be regular exams in all semesters.

A College of dreams

Likes

The environment here is good as the students here are all equal as they have studied the same.
The landscape here is so good due to trees.
We are provided with so many facilities.

Dislikes

The college proffesors are not good here.
We can only use cycle here and we don't have other option.
Funds are not provided at ther correct time due to government issues.

Placement Experience:

Placements are pretty good in our college for the top tier branches with a placement percantage of 80%. Low tier branches have a cut off of minimum 7.5 CGPA for sitting in the campus interviews. Students get eligibility in 4th year.

First time experience in an IIT

Likes

The faculty are experienced as well as chill.
The amenities are good , affordable and accessible
Hostel and mess is decent, much better compared to other colleges

Dislikes

The sex ratio is a bit less like about 25%
The distance between hostel and academic block is very high
The wheather is harsh either extreme humid or cold

Course Curriculum Overview:

I personally don't like the course contents as the relevance of many courses to the upcoming branch as some as tecahed because they are basic courses.The exam difficulty standards are high as the average IQ is high causing it very hard to compete.

I LIKE THE INFRASTUCTURE OF THE BUILDINGS IN THE CAMPUS. AND ALSO I LIKE THE INFRASTUCTUE OF THE MAIN BUILDING WHICH IS AT THE CENTRE OF THE CAMPUS. BESIDE THAT I LIKE MOSTLY THE AUDITORIUM IN THE CAMPPUS.
I LIKE THE GRRENARY IN THE CAMPUS,AND ALSO THE CLEANLINESS. EVERY ONE IN THE CAMPUS MUST FOLLOW THE TRAFFIC RULES IN THE CAMPUS AND I LIKE THE SECURITY WHICH GIVES PROTECTION FOR US FOR 24/7.
I AM PROUDLY ANNOUNCING THAT IIT BHUBANESWAR WAS THE HIGHEST PAYING IN THE SPORTS EQUIPMENT.I LIKE THAT THING MOST AND ALSO THE STUCTURE OF THE LECTURE HALLS.

EVERY INFRA OF THE SCHOOLS ARE ALMOST EQUAL FOR VISUALISING.

my experience in first year

Likes

I liked the single room facility in my college so that I get my privacy and without friends in room and I can study alone at. night
I liked the distance between the hostel and learning hall so that I can use cycle for going far that much and I can walk also so that I can do exercise
I liked the auditorium and spacious of that and its far better than all other iits

i picked this course due to i didnt get any admission in any other iits so i chose this one and civil is somewhat good compared to other branches i got in other colleges.i took civil course and started preparing for cse. i didnt see till now because i am in firstb year but my seniors told and my deaan told few days agoi that from 2nd year onwards internships startys and we have societies also like tech and cult. more infrastructure is need to develop because thius is 2nd gen iit . mid sem , end sem every semester which for each you can start preparing from 15 days before exam .we have all types of labs first year so that every engineering student know basics of every branch

Likes

Campus is very clean and green. There are hills which create a pleasant climate.
We could often go for trecking and beach is also not too far say 30 km.
City is also close so that we don't need to spend much on autos.Teachers are friendly and didn't even expect that kind of behaviour from those experienced faculty. Curriculum is also very decent for all branches and cources.

Dislikes

Gutka is also a problem. Mess workers other people in campus use gutka. Few professors are rude towards students with their own rules.
Distance from hostels to schools is more. We can take buses but they are often crowded. Girls to boys ratio is 1:5.

Placement Experience:

Generally placements here start from the end of third year. That will go on till the fourth year.Amazon, google often visit for placements. Other companies like wipro, Federal also visit. Highest package of 2024 was 52 LPA. Overall highest package was about 60 LPA. In CSE around 96%studentes got placed and overall 89% students applied for placements have placed.

Likes

Boys to girls ratio is around 4:1 and college atmosphere is overall good
U get many opportunities to improve your skills and basic amenities are provided
Faculty is good and curriculum is not that hectic

Dislikes

Many areas are still under construction they should speed up for sure
Curriculum has some subjects which are soo boring
May be the gender ratio should be improved

Placement Experience:

College placements are going pretty well, many of my seniors got placed into different companies, from 3rd year campus provides you internship and placement opportunities but u can also try for other remote placements Almost 95% of students of computer science branch gets placed every year

The Centre of Entrepreneurship at IIT Bhubaneswar is pretty good and slowly developing. It was inaugurated on 20th June 2016 by Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar. The Department of Science & Technology and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India sanctioned 1.50 Crore for the establishment of this canter. The vision behind the establishment of this startup center was to have an enrollment of a minimum of 10 startups in the 1st year of its commencement. The facilities provided at the Centre of Entrepreneurship are food court facility, lodging facility, working/office space, internet facility, electricity facility, laboratory facility, mentoring services, and seed grant maximum up to 2.5 lakh. For the selection procedure, initiation letters for opening startups are yet to be given. Form A is for individuals and teams and form B is for Registered Units Ancillaries and Subsidiaries of establishment Firms. This cell can prove to be a good initiative provided the management and faculty implement innovative ideas too. The highlight of this center is their conduction of Esummit. It is a two-day event which hosted lectures by eminent personalities across various domains. The Centre of Entrepreneurship also organized a workshop on “Funding Opportunities and Legal Aspects of Startups” on 9 April 2016.
