Placements are good but in this year due to recession there is decreased in placements . offers are good and there will good number of companies visited .
The faculty of indian institute of technology bhubaneswar are highly qualified faculty with phd the professors are really amazing at teaching.
Tution fee is around 114000 scholarships like fee remission and merit based are available for all students undertakings like fest management and societies are present for those who are interested in extra curricular activities.

Dislikes

Probably i don't have much things to dislike here but still i find lot of difficulties which conveying anything to an odia people.
The criteria of 75 percent attendance. this is the bitter truth that almost everyone hate this. but nobody can do anything right!
It's difficult a bit in cracking exam and 2nd year subjects need some more concentration to crack the exam.

Inside the campus of IIT bhubaneswar

Likes

The atmosphere is really nice here, very peaceful
Various sports equipment and gym is available for work outs
Hostel quality is very good and food is not that bad also

Dislikes

Far away from the main city so it's hard to go out everyday
Mess food quality is not that great and transportation is not good
Very less places inside campus to hangout with friends

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is quite good, more than 80 percent students get placed every year. Many reputed companies like Google Microsoft comes to the campus for placement. Even PSUs come to recruit from the campus

The college that is budding and allows to grow with your own pace.

Likes

The huge, beautiful and green campus is quite attracting and engaging, the facilities are made easily available to students, with being economical.
I do admire the faculty here, most of them are genuine, supportive and caring. They are involved deeply in their research domains and are doing great in their areas.

Dislikes

At times the huge campus might make it difficult commute. The grading system and first year courses need improvement, of all the syllabus must be updated from time to time. And more competent must be involved while grading.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placements from 6th Semester onwards. We get internships oppurtunities in 2nd Year. The companies that visit are De Shaw, Mahindra and Mahindra, ISRO,BPCL, Amazon, IBM, TCS. There are a fair amount of offers made. The highest package in last placement season is 64 Lakhs and Average Package is aroun 17.8 Lakhs. Placement Rate is 85%. I would prefer to get into research or Higher Studies if I am well-versed with the subject, else I might settle for a 9 to 5 job.

Life at IIT Bhubaneswar

Likes

Infrastructure is very good compared to their 2grn
Course faculty is good especially for mechanical
Good sex ratio almost 40:60 is maintained

Dislikes

Very big campus compared to others so have to walk sometimes
Strict attendance policy which is obviously frustrating
Lack of placements recently ( in last 5 years )

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is very good. All are pointed towards the very core concepts especycore subjects. Tutorials are also held for problem solvinga nd you can always visit the faculty at office hours for doubt clarification.

My first year experience at IIT Bhubaneshwar

The quality of Education and Labs are top notch, each subjects faculty and PhD students who assist them are really good, They are humble and altogether the quality of Education is great
Due to promotion of many clubs and Compulsory sports activities the social life of students improve and they get exposure.
The campus is ragging free , seniors are really helpful and the institute promotes seniors to help freshers throughout the college

Dislikes

The campus thought very big is still not completed 100 percent, as it's a new IIT some work is still left .
Branch change feature is removed from our institute
The scope of placement after PDh and Mtech is lower than Btech

Placement Experience:

At IIT Bhubaneswar students become eligible for placement from their 7th semester. The placement percentage is high with many students securing offers from Amazon Google and Goldman Sachs. highest package exceeds 50 lacks and the average package is around 14 lacks. if no campus placements are offered, students can opt for higher studies or entrepreneurship, they can also opt for off-campus placements

Likes

The campus is big the infrastructure and everything is really good. The girls to boys ratio is 1:5.
The equipments of my department are top notch and work properly. The faculty is very supportive
It is pretty rare that i felt the faculty dont know their subject. Some are better at teaching and some are not as good but everyone is qualified enough

Dislikes

I disliked the fact that this college being an iit dont have things that are present in private colleges, like start up park i am not completly sure if it is present or not but it isnt that active
The environment is not so start up friendly here. Every society every sport every competition like baha they are all in developing stage which is both good and bad.
The campus way far from the city so a student would expect good shops to be opened here and the transport is getting better but it still is too expensive cabs dont want to come here because they dont get a ride back and they always ask for some extra

Course Curriculum Overview:

I had interest in aviation sector and robotics so mechanical was an obvious choice i initially wanted to go into cs owing to the hype but now i realise that i couldn't have done it. Plus this college is really good for my course. Here we get hands on experience with the machines operating the lathe and everything. The labs are interesting and many doubts of class infact get clear in labs. Exams some are tough but not as much as jee so it is alright. We can spare out a good amount of time for other interests. It just feels that there is a const pressure of exams. There are assignments then class tests then mids then assignments class tests mids.

College Life in IITBBS

Likes

beautiful campus with quite learning environment
excellent mentoring and research possibilities and also best supporting faculty
competitive packages and top recruiter strong placement support

Dislikes

it had low diversity and this location is kind of semi urban which has limited social life
mess food and hostel facilities needs some development
time consuming and isolated connectivity to the city

Placement Experience:

there are lot of good job oppurtunities at IITBBS. students can start looking for work on campus in their 7th semester which is the final year and 9th semester for dual degree students. the CDC cell works hard to put students in toch with top employers in a wide range of fields. every year big companies like google, tata steel, L&T and many more come to recruit.in past few years highest salary has been more than 1 crore and avg package would be 18lpa and placement percentage would be around 85.

Lab and college facilities are good with advanced equipments and softwares required for learning
Students can use any facilities available in the institute for their benefit
Faculties are talented and have good knowledge on the courses

Facilities for student activities are still under development

From seventh semester students are eligible to sit for placements. Companies are brought by Career Development Cell of IIT BHUBANESWAR. More than 100 companies of different domains visit every year. Few of these are Google, nvidia, samsung, Zomato, Accenture Japan, psu etc.

The college is in a serene location with a lot of greenery and mountains. Weather is quite nice all year round, except for one month in april when it gets really hot and humid.
Campus life is great but the campus is quite far from the main city so do not expect a city night life.
Infrastructure is nice and a lot more is being built. Professor to student ratio is 14:1 and they are well versed with their courses. Girls to boys ratio is 1:9

Dislikes

Not many good food options available in the campus or nearby. Have to survive on packaged food.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements in their final year. Companies start coming from September end. The CDC of the college works very hard and already had confirmed 45 companies for the first phase of campus placements. Companis like Amazon, Money Forward, Zomato, Accenture, Havells, Quicksell, L&T, Reliance and many more. Highest package reaches upto 64 lpa, and PPO offers go upto 97 lpa.

Likes

Campus is good and it's green everywhere
We get single rooms for all 4 years so no problem of sharing room
There is too much to explore infrastructure is good

Dislikes

Quality of mess food can be improved especially roti
More food stalls can be opened in campus
As its too hot in bhubaneswar i think they should install ac in rooms

Placement Experience:

Many of top companies come to campus for placement process and highest package is around 60 lakhs with median package of 15 lakhs every year around 80 percent people gets placed my plan is to do preparation for upsc.

A tour of my college through my words

Likes

Beautiful and lush green campus spanning a vast 936 acres
Good teaching faculty who have the dedication , committment and desire to impart the difficult concepts of engineering
The campus is 100% anti-ragging campus meaning there is no ragging . Also the seniors are friendly and helping

Dislikes

The campus is too big meaning we have to travel 6-7 kilometre daily on cycle from the hostel to the academic lecture halls
The societies here are have an entrance test known as induction which stops freshers from going into all societies and only some are able to crack
The mess food here is so bad that every other day an insect is spotted in the food

Placement Experience:

The placements of this college are good . The placement percentage is 75 and the highest package is 64lpa . The median package is 13.6lpa and the average is 11.6lpa . Also the off-campus placement opportunities are good

The Centre of Entrepreneurship at IIT Bhubaneswar is pretty good and slowly developing. It was inaugurated on 20th June 2016 by Prof. R. V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar. The Department of Science & Technology and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India sanctioned 1.50 Crore for the establishment of this canter. The vision behind the establishment of this startup center was to have an enrollment of a minimum of 10 startups in the 1st year of its commencement. The facilities provided at the Centre of Entrepreneurship are food court facility, lodging facility, working/office space, internet facility, electricity facility, laboratory facility, mentoring services, and seed grant maximum up to 2.5 lakh. For the selection procedure, initiation letters for opening startups are yet to be given. Form A is for individuals and teams and form B is for Registered Units Ancillaries and Subsidiaries of establishment Firms. This cell can prove to be a good initiative provided the management and faculty implement innovative ideas too. The highlight of this center is their conduction of Esummit. It is a two-day event which hosted lectures by eminent personalities across various domains. The Centre of Entrepreneurship also organized a workshop on “Funding Opportunities and Legal Aspects of Startups” on 9 April 2016.
