Course Curriculum Overview
Honestly speaking I did not choose this field of engineering. Rather my JEE Advanced Rank forced me to choose this field. However, civil engineering is indeed a very good branch to pursue in B-tech as it has a lot of future scopes both in the government and private sector.
Internships Opportunities
Though the institute provides internships for research papers. However, students can apply for internships outside in many different companies as well. There are a lot of research papers and projects being undertaken by various faculties which are assisted by students as interns.
Placement Experience
The highest salary offered till date is indeed very good while the mean offered varies between different branches. Around 90 percent of the students get placed. Many good core and non-core companies come for placement. The highest ctc offered is Rs 6400000.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fees for btech per semester is approximately Rs.115000(tution fees) +Rs180000(mess fees). And we have in total of 8 semesters. So the total course fees come to around Rs1100000.No bank ever denies an educational loan to a student from IIT and hence one can make use of it which comes at the rate of interest of 8to9%per annum. You can pay it after graduation or after getting a job. Moreover, if your family's annual income is less than Rs500000, then the institute offers fee remission of 2/3rd(if annual income less than Rs50000) or full fee remission( if the family's annual income is less than Rs 100000. )
Campus Life
The campus life is full of activities by the students. There is a club for almost everything starting from dance, and music to machine learning, coding, etc. New journals and thesis papers are added to the library every weekend and the library is accessible from morning 9 am to evening 5 pm, which extends during exam times. You can join any club you want of your interest.
Hostel Facilities
We all are provided hostel rooms with single occupancy. The rooms are the best among all the IITs. They are spacious ,well ventilated and well furnished.The food provided in the mess is also of good quality. The mess menu contains food from north to south.
Admission
The admission is entirely based on the rank obtained in JEE Advanced. You will be alloted a branch based on your this rank. The admission begins in the month of June-July and is completed in a month. You have to apply through Jossa after qualifying for both JEE Mains and JEE Advanced in the same academic year. You should also have secured above 75% in your 12th-class board exams. The admission is quite simplified and you won't be facing any trouble for this.
Faculty
The faulty-to-student ratio is nearly 1:17.There quality of teaching is indeed very good. All the faculty members hold prestigious doctorate and post-doctorate degrees from reputed universities across the globe. They interact with the students in a friendly manner. Being subject experts in their fields, they explain the topics in a simple and lucid manner to ensure that it is understood by each and every student present in the class. We can approach to them anytime we want in their respective chambers in their department buildings.
