Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad, commonly known as IIT Palakkad or IIT PKD, is a public autonomous engineering and research institute located in Palakkad, Kerala. IIT Palakkad Campus Life & Infrastructure

IIT Palakkad has two campuses: the temporary campus and the Nila campus, which are spaced apart by around 13 miles. The temporary campus may be found inside the Ahalia Integrated campus near Kozhippara, Palakkad. It is around 20 kilometers from the city. The temporary campus academic building is 55,000 square feet in size. Out of the 504 acres granted for the permanent campus location in Kanjikode, the Nila Campus is situated on 30 acres.

The permanent campus is 14 kilometers from the Palakkad Railway Station and roughly 60 kilometers from the Coimbatore International Airport. It is located on a scenic 504-acre tract at the base of the Western Ghats. The temporary campus is 55,000 square feet in size and has a seminar room, auditorium, conference room, workshop, library, canteen, laboratories, and faculty offices in addition to well-equipped classrooms. Additionally, it offers access to high-speed internet at hostels and facilities for sports and relaxation.

Out of the 504 acres given for the permanent school location in Kanjikode, 30 acres make up the Nila school. The campus has a first-rate infrastructure in place, including an auditorium, small and big classrooms with multimedia capabilities, student labs, a library, a canteen, and dorms with complete Wi-Fi capabilities and mobile Internet access. Samgatha and Manogatha are the names of the academic building and the laboratory complex, respectively. Bageshri, Brindavani, and Tilang are the three freshly constructed dormitories that house the students in the Nila Campus. Phase I of the permanent campus is still being built.

placements are good with placement rate around 95 . and average package of 1200000.but for the batch of b20 placements are not upto the mark due to recession. u can get names of campanies and no of offers in college website in detail

Academic structure and examination pattern in the campus

i was always interested in cse ,as my score was less so opted for data science. the curriculum is really good.the teaching methods are also good. upto now this course curriculum is good. sem is of 4 months , 2 tests in between and end sem exam at last . these tests will be easy but end sem will be difficult

Total fees of the course and scholarship

Fee is into two parts . 1) academic fee-108000 2) hostel fee -38000. there will be many scholarship according to your family income you have to apply for scholarships. first you have to apply for nsp scholarship and then apply for college fee reduction scholarship. you can also mcm scholarship from which you can get 4000 for each sem

Various sports, clubs and library of the college

when i was in first year there permanent campus of the college were under construction.then after one year we moved to our permanent campus.petrichor is the annual fest and along with so many fest will be conducted every month.there are 2 libraries which consists of wide range of books.classrooms contains all basic requirements along with central ac. sports are really good . they conduct general championship every semester and inter iit every year.many students clubs are there where u can gain more experience

What are facilities available in the college hostel?

some basic facilities like fans ,lights ,study table ,cup board , common bathrooms . meal quality is good but taste is average as it will be little kerala style which consists of less spice and masalas. mess menu will be frequently changed with approvment of mess committe. no separate process for hostel registration

Admission process and eligibility criteria of the college

From jee advanced, the first step is to write jee main and after the results in main who get qualifying percentile according to their category will get qualified for jee advanced . Then according to advanced score you have list out your opted colleges in a preference oreder . then you will be a allotted to a college after the councelling .you will find application in jee offcial website.eligilbility is to pass intermediate and to score 60% in mpc, reservation candidates gets advantage , 2 jee mains and one advanced will be conducted and schedule of these exams will be posted early and my paper was difficult.this admission is good actually but they have to do some changes in reservation seats

IIT Palakkad Scholarship 2025

Scholarship provided by the college.

IIT Palakkad offers a variety of scholarships for its students belonging to reserved categories and students with disabilities. The scholarships are offered as per the norms of the Government of India at IIT Palakkad and financial assistance is provided to the students pursuing PG research-based programs and doctoral programs. The financial assistance is offered in the form of Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA). Apart from the basic scholarships, students at IIT Palakkad can also avail the facility of Education loans to meet their academic expenses. Some of the popular scholarship schemes offered by IIT Palakkad are as follows.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship:

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is the most popular scholarship at IITs. The Scholarship is only awarded to 25% of the students admitted.
The basic requirements for the Merit Cum Means Scholarship is an annual family income less than INR 4.5 lakhs and the renewal of scholarship every semester is subject to a minimum GPA of 5 in the passed subjects.
The award of the Merit Cum Means Scholarship is an exemption from the payment of tuition fees along with a pocket allowance of INR 1000 per month.

Free Studentship:

Unlike the Merit Cum Means Scholarship, the Free Studentship is awarded to beyond 25% of students, to the students of the institute.
In order to be eligible for the Free Studentship, a student must have an annual parental income of less than INR 4.5 lakhs.
Also for the renewal of Free Studentship every semester, a student needs to maintain a minimum GPA of 5 in the passed subjects.
As an award of Free Studentship, students will be exempted from paying the tuition fees.

Scholarship for SC/ST Students:

The SC/ST Scholarship is specifically designed for the students of SC/ST categories whose annual family income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs.
For the renewal of the SC/ST Scholarship, a student is subject to a minimum GPA of 5 in the past semester.
The SC/ST students are exempted from paying the tuition fees under this scholarship scheme as per their academic performance in the institute.
Also, the free messing (basic menu) is provided to the students along with a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month.

Scholarship for PD Students:

The Scholarship is especially for the PD students irrespective of their annual family income and academic performance.
The students are exempted from the payment of tuition fees under this scholarship scheme.

Ques. Does IIT Palakkad provide an education loan facility?

Ans. Students enrolled at IIT Palakkad can avail the facility of education loan as the institute has signed an MOU with SBI, Kanjikode, and under Vidyalakshmi educational loan scheme.

Ques. How much financial assistance is awarded at IIT Palakkad for the PG students?

Ans. IIT Palakkad offers financial assistance in the form of Half Time Teaching Assistantship which is about INR 12,500 per month for 24 months only. The assistantship will be awarded as per the institute's rules and regulations.

What's in IIT PALAKKAD???

I firstly like the environment of my campus/institute it is situated between a decent forest which is well protected and it is ever green and everyday.We can get fresh air and we can be relief of stress and enjoy nature.
Our institute is spread over nearly 3 kilometres south we have have bus facility which is free of cost to roam within the campus,for every 20-30 minutes there will be bus to transport.

Dislikes

Our campus not finished the construction yet of new buildings so we can't get those facilities which I felt bad personally.

Admission:

A part from this I was thinking to get into NIT SURATHKAL CSE,it is also one of the best college in NIT's which offers decent packages to students and many of they get employed but the strength there was very much higher than IIT PALAKKAD so I thought we would not be given any special attention among those and coming to off campus the IIT tag is very useful to get into any company

I had written jee mains and advanced entrance exam.I qualified for those examinations then I applied for councelling and registration process for that we have to fee with respect to caste for whole process,my caste (OBC)35,000 I paid.I awaited for 6rounds for good college.so based on my rank and cutoff which was given by 'josaa' I got this college. the process of query I didn't liked very much because they were raised the queries in the last moment which was not got sufficient time to solve.

The campus life is good in the face faculty or nice on the placement course also good and percentage it is nice the infrastructure is still constructing so it will be good in coming years.
The nature is good like a we have nice weather in the evening.

Admission:

It was nice and elegibility is directly by getting rank in JEE advanced. All information was sent through mail given in application form. No reservations for open category. It was hard exam but selecting questions and doing them perfectly will definitely pass the exam.

We need to clear class 10th and 12 . After class 12 we should take entrance exam jee mains . If we qualify in jee mains then we able to write jee advance exam . Then according to our advance results and our interest in verious course apply for counseling process where we get seat in different IITs. According to counciling results we get seat in a clg from that clg we get a mail link for admission that link we should apply our admission to clg.they proved all the fee details and all the thinks mail . Coming to reservations. If we our from backword committee or miniorites we get reservations under category miniorites where tuition fee won't be . If our income is less we should apply for scholarships after coimg to college and they provide all The things for applying scholarships

The infrastructure of college i.e, there are many constructions going on and also restrictions.

Admission:

The admission process at the time of joining is in very perfect manner , I hadn't felt any queries during the registration. There will be josaa online counseling for all IITs, NITs, etc... Ofcourse there are some queries in uploading the required documents which downs me into anxiety, but finally my seat was confirmed.. My personal suggestion is to remove reservations.

Academic excellence: IT Palakkad's ranking by NIRF is 69 out of the top engineering colleges in India in 2023. Even the university got a sweet deal with Auckland University for a study abroad semester

Faculty: Professors are highly knowledgeable and always ready to help. They even encourage the students to dive into research and sometimes join in government-funded projects. The pedagogy here includes classroom learning, workshops, experiential learning, and simulations. Apart from these, conferences and guest lectures from experts add to the quality of education here.

Facilities: The university has comfy hostel rooms with super-fast Wi-Fi, and the students can keep fit and healthy with medical and sports facilities. The library might be small, but it's got all the books and study materials the students need for them.

Placements: Companies like Accenture, AMD, Arista Networks, BEL, GE Digital, HCL, ICICI Bank, Innoplexus, etc. come to campus with their exciting placement deals. The highest salary package hits 46.16 LPA, and the average package is around 11.5 LPA.

Both institutes are relatively new and enjoy a similar status and brand value in the education world. IIT Palakkad is a new IIT while IIT Dhanbad although an old institution has recently been given the IIT title. So that leaves us with preference as the major factor in determining which institute is the right one for you.

MNC is a blend of both Math and Computing concepts and is often very rigorous. The mathematical proofs and theorems form a major part of the curriculum and CS comprises just a minor portion of it. Unless you are a math lover or are genuinely interested in it, this branch might be very challenging for you as the concepts are very advanced and nothing like what you studied before. CSE on the other hand is an evergreen branch with broad prospects.

Moreover, the faculty of IIT Palakkad are from IITM also thus improving the quality of education offered. The infrastructure is excellent with great accommodation facilities.

You can not apply for admission to IIT Palakkad M.Tech. without GATE Examination scores. You need to appear compulsorily for GATE and COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) Counselling for taking admission to IIT Palakkad.

The complete fee of IIT Palakkad for Bachelor of Technology varies from specialisation to specialisation. The average total fee of the course is INR 8.72 lacs. The first-year fee is INR 2.22 lacs. The second, third and fourth-year fees are the same INR 2.16 lacs.
