Internships Opportunities

Internships at LSR mostly depend on you. Linkedin is your best bet, just apply to as many as you can, don’t overthink it. Some people also get internships through cold emails or referrals. If you intern during the semester, you can get it approved for credits, and it actually shows up on your marksheet. LSR also has a summer NGO internship program that replaces your SEC, so you don’t have to appear for that subject. It’s a nice way to get some field exposure and ease your load a bit. Students have interned at places like Teach for india, Yuva Unstoppable, Cry, Slam out loud, Breakthrough india, Safe city, AIESEC, and a bunch of other NGOs and ed-tech startups. Some also manage internships at places like The print, Think india, Fem research india, or small law and media firms if you're interested and apply early.

Faculty

The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good like you don’t feel lost or overwhelmed. The environment is balanced: it’s not too professor-dominated, and students aren’t running the show either. Most professors are approachable, and many are genuinely kind and engaging. They’re open to discussions outside class, and pretty helpful when it comes to clearing last-minute doubts. Personally, I really liked Dr. Lipi Saxena, she’s insanely knowledgeable, teaches with so much clarity that half the time we didn’t even need to touch the material before exams. She makes even the toughest philosophical texts feel easy to understand. The course structure has two end-sem exams per year.

Faculty

The faculty members considering the teachers and the professor are quite good providing the required help and support from time to time but the examination curriculum is quite rushed with almost the whole semester with no assignments or projects but at the last moment everything is given at once which is hard for all the student s to manage along with their study at the same time and the examination timing is always held during the most extremes of seasons whether it be summer or winter

Campus Life

The clubs and student societies are very active, with the teacher coordinator being very involved and helpful in whatever we do. from the college side, we receive very little help and our needs are often not fulfilled. As a result, we either have to contribute from our side or look for sponsors to organise the events we want to have.

Faculty

Faculty to student ratio is pretty balanced and Professors are all pretty approachable. I like gaganjot kaur from philosphy department, she's super engaging. not taking names but some professors do harsh marking without giving clear feedback. There are 6 sems over the 3 years. ad if you attend classics and are cleared on basics then you can easily ace the exam, and fail rate is very low.

Course Curriculum Overview

I was drawn to the intellectual dept, critical thinking in philosophy. The curriculum deals with both indian and western ideas, so you get a global view Outdated syllabus is a bit of a problem and also the teaching style of most professors is not interative or interesting enough.

Psychology means mentoring and playing with minds. Our faculties does the same in class and that is how we are taught. So their tutorials and fun quotient that they bring in the class is what I will admire of them. Mrs Prajakta who is our leading faculty is also my favourite as she has taught us the biggest life lesson to me and that is to never carry a long face.

Course Curriculum Overview

From emotional experience to biological behaviour our course has it all. So therefore it's my advice as well that for those who want to study Psychology that DU is best and LSR being the best is definitely the best. Course toughness is definitely moderate than others but vastness is very high as we have more subjects than the others.

The examination in du is pretty easy to crack, you just need to follow the instructions of your professors who would let you know about the assignment submission and other internal marking schemes, you just have to pay heed to them and they will make sure you score good in your semester exams. College faculty is quite supportive they make sure you are aware of the tests and assignments to be submitted because that is an imperative pre requisite for clearing the internal examination that would Collaborate with your written examination and give you a score. So being vigilant is a must and professor will take care of the exams and other stuff. You will have 6 semester exams with internal and tutorial markings in each of them and you'd be required to pass everything.so it could be said that it is quite easy to clear exams like these provided you're ready to study when the days are near

The faculty relationship with students is good. I mean you can't say it's very approchable but it's good. If you are an insider, you'll like their faculties. Here only two faculties you'll get: science and arts. There's no scope for commerce students. I won't say all the faculties are bad, some good ones are history, psychology, english. They take exams every six months as per the university's notice. They take internal of 10 marks, the questions are easy. If you study well you can score good marks. Still students fail but that's very rare like 2,3 every semester. They are most likely to pass everyone in the internal exams. You'll fail only if you don't score in your external.

Course Curriculum Overview

Well, choosing this course was accidental but you'll get to know about life in a different way. Your perception towards your life will change for sure. This subject isn't that much relevant in case of further academic pursuits but their logical reasonings will be helpful if you enroll in government exams. In teaching methods, if they start lecuring in English then it'll be great for the students who can't understand Bengali. As a English medium student I have to study from YouTube and Chatgpt. In every six months exams are conducted. As per the university's notice they'll take internals of 10 marks, you have to give assignment of 15 marks, and 10 marks is on your attendance.

The relationships between students and faculty is pretty good we have a friendship like bond with our professors. The faculty is very polite and approachable. The professor of India Philosophy (of my department) is very polite and of very kind nature. I love the way she repeats everything she teaches so that all the students can understand. And she also tries to solve our problems and doubts regarding our course. There isn't anyone whom I don't like, but our logic professor becomes a little bit aggressive when we ask the same don't thrice. She also goes very fast with our syllabus.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course is philosophy Hons. At first I didn't wanted it as I didn't have any knowledge regarding this course but now that I've been studying it for months, it has become pretty interesting and now I don't regret at all. It is a course which my soul really craved for. As I love deep meaning of this materialistic world and love to find logic in every thing I see around. I haven't given my exams yet but as much as I've known from seniors, the exams are not that tough and can be easily done if prepared properly.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I'm from a reservation category student, of course I got some fee benefits compared with other students in my class. They will be paying like 9000 course fee per semester and mine will be paid by the government itself. As a part of admission fee I paid 3800 ruppes and that was fixed for all students from any category. When coming to lab fees, which was considered as a part of laboratory exam, each student should pay an amount of 1150 rupees. For examination fees, I've some fee discount, such that only fifty rupees was for me, where as my batch mates have to pay the full amount of 950 rupees. And also the discount was applicable to OEC students as well. While I was at college, the government were also providing financial aids to students those who are economically backward in the society. For me, there was egrantz scholarship, in which an amount of 1500 rupees will be credited in my account every month as I traveled more than 8kms from my home to college. Those who have a distance less than 8 kms, 750 rupees will be credited to their account. For Muslim community students, there were post metric scholarships.

Faculty

As I was a psychology student, there were a total of 120 students in the department inclusive of under graduate, post graduate and research students. The number of teachers were 7 in total amd there was one lab assistant. The faculty-student relationship was like a family. The student can approach the teacher every time, they can share their vows to the teacher and the teachers were always friendly to the students. I liked all the teachers in our department, and they were the best. Their approach towards the students make them the favorite teachers ever. Our academic system was like semester system. Every year there was 2 exams. For me the exams were easy to student and to score better marks. But still there were 5-6 students in my class who fails. May be because they are not studying well.

The faculty members are really well read, from good universities like JNU, Imperial College, BHU and many more, they're very discussion oriented, which becomes interesting when reading about controversial topics. There's a faculty- student ratio of 1:62, however there are tutorials as well wherein all the 62 students are divided into groups of 3 for clearing doubts and everything. Since the college is very competitive in a healthy manner, everyone is a topper, therefore almost everyone manages to score pretty well in tests.

Course Curriculum Overview

Studying Philosophy was never in my plan, but then I researched about the subject, and it turned out to be one of the most diverse course that i could pursue. If at all I want to take UPSC, i can pursue philosophy as my optional considering it has very less syllabus, or I could pursue law after this, as the moral obligations that it teaches you becomes very important in pursuing law. We have frequent tests, assessments and presentations, and i am sure it gets tougher as we keep on going.

Course Curriculum Overview

As i never study philosophy till 12th class so i had no idea about it but when i started to study it in my graduation i got interest in it and found that there is always a place for questions like there is no certain answer for anything you can question each and everything, even your existence too..Teachers are so well and they teach so so good, so we just need to work on ourselves to get this subject, this subject demand your consistency and critical way of understanding.

Placement Experience

From 5th sem you're eligible for college placements. There are so many companies like EY amd delloite and some other reputable comapnies which comes in this clg. Overall the highest package goes upto 5 to 6 lakh per annum. Students who have good communicationskills and have a batter connections are having higher chances for selections.

The teachers are friendly and approachable. They help out with almost everything. They guide everyone equally. Although sometimes the optional courses they teach are not known by them fully, but they try to teach in the best way possible. For the 1st and 2nd years, there are 7 exams (3 core and 4 optional) and for the 3rd year, there are 6 exams( 3 core, 1 DSE and 2 optional) . Although the courses somehow are a soure of extra knowledge, but the teachers also need to be aware of the subjects they're teaching.

Faculty

The student to teachers ratio is hugely improportionate in our department , there are only 3 lecturers who attend all the students studying in various semesters plus they lack quality when it comes to content and comprehension. One of the worst faculties in delhi university until my 2nd year we did not even had a department , it was formed later on. As far as the exam goes with the nep in place you have to attend 6 papers consisting of 3 core , 1 value addition course, 1 skill addition course and 1 departmental exam . It's not to easy and not to tough to gain marks in these papers as the university is quite lenient in their checking. You could gain an upper hand if you look at pyq's as mostly they'll ask question from there

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise segregation of fees differ course to course, as for philosophy it was 17k in the first year which includes the registration fees, id charges , document verification charge etc 2nd year it was 10,500 and 3rd year it was 12k Apart from all these there is examination form charges which you have to pay per semester varying around ?900- ?1200. There are provisions for fee concession every year which can be availed according to the parameters set by the establishment. Fees for courses like political science (h) in the first year is usually 20 k similar to bsc. Computer science.

Faculty

So as of now I've only attended two classes and the ge sec vac and aec haven't started yet as we're waiting for the allocation rounds to finish but the classes i attended on Indian philosophy was great ???? however at times it can get pretty noisy during the lectures as it's philosophy were allowed to voice our own opinions sometimes even shatter our own views to understand the pov of your fellow mates

Course Curriculum Overview

The reason why I chose philosophy is because ever since I was young I've always been curious and literally questioned everything without taking things for granted. Philosophy being a study of wisdom and why's will definitely help me in all aspects by enhancing critical reasoning, analyze concepts, give me a sound argumentation and deal with difficult questions that persists in modern society.
