Dyal Singh College: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 7 Reviews

The college is known for its supportive and approachable faculty, despite having only three lecturers for multiple semesters, leading to a high student-to-teacher ratio. Faculty members are committed to helping students, contributing to a generally positive educational environment. Over the course of the program, exams include a mix of core, value addition, skill addition, and departmental papers. While the university's lenient grading helps many students pass, some optional courses lack depth due to faculty unfamiliarity.

In the first two years, students take seven exams (3 core, 4 optional), and in the third year, six exams (3 core, 1 DSE, 2 optional) are conducted. Placement opportunities are strong, with notable companies like ICICI, HDFC, and LIC recruiting from the college. Placements begin in the second year, with the highest reported package reaching 35 lakh INR and an average package of about 3 lakh INR. Internship opportunities are available through summer and winter Vice Chancellor internships and with companies like TCS for computer science students.

Not all students pursue placements, reflecting diverse preferences. The fee structure involves yearly payments over six semesters. Most courses have an annual fee of around 9,000 INR for the first two years. Philosophy courses cost 17,000 INR in the first year, reducing to 10,500 INR and then 12,000 INR in subsequent years. Political Science (Hons) and B.Sc. Computer Science have first-year fees of approximately 20,000 INR, with a 2,000 INR reduction in the second year for some courses.

Examination fees range from 900 to 1,200 INR per semester. The college offers annual fee concessions based on specific criteria.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fee structure is basically you have to pay yearly for two semester each in which my course is till the 6th semester. You pay the fee of approximately 9000 rupees each for each year you attend in college i,e 1st and 2nd year after that you have to pay for the 3rd and 4th semester and so on till the 6th semester. So basically i have paid my fee a total of 3 times in my 3years in college. And considering the facilities and the teaching that they provide in my college i.e Dyal Singh College, the sum of Rs.9000 approx per year you have to pay for my 3 years in college is actually too good for its price.
