Course Curriculum Overview

2

I chose the course because of my interest in philosophy, however the curriculum has hugely disappointed me. So I would really not recommend this course to anyone, especially not in DU. Timing of exams is very poor. Semester exams are always either in scorching heat or frigid winter.

Internships Opportunities

3

The college admin regularly sends emails on the official id provided by college regarding internship opportunities and the likes. Corizo is one such company that was offering hr pr roles and such with a stipend of 2k as i remember.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is increasing, the year wise fee i will be paying for second year is 13.2k. Upon admission, the fees to be paid was around ~15k. The fees will be increasing over the years yes. You can apply for scholarships, the college sends circulars regarding that.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest is named Tempest. Its full of life and activity. Its held around march april. The library is fine. It has a standard collection of books, nothing too special. Classrooms are mostly equipped with really bad furniture, no acs in most classrooms. Sport life is vibrant. All societies are active.

Admission

My first choice was Philosophy Miranda for DU. I applied to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Uni for their English ug course, got selected, didnt take the course because of more interest in philosophy, always regret this decision. I wish I had any other course as my first preference atleast. The college itself isnt bad, the faculty and curriculum is. Miranda is a beautiful and calm college. You can admisison here via giving the CUET exam and applying for DU CSAS.

Faculty

2

Faculty to student ratio in my course (philosophy) is really poor. The newer younger teachers are crass and rude, while the older faculty is inefficient and is not able to teach well. There is nothing that these teachers teach that i cannot study myself at home, and i might possibly gain more knowledge from the latter. Exams are easy but lengthy. Same pyqs are always repeated. Best faculty in the college currently is probably physics and english. Very few students fail to clear the exam, theyre that easy. Course curriculum for philosophy is very poorly made, doesnt make any sense from studying incomplete indian philosophy one semester to studying uncomplete greek philosophy next sem and then straight up studying Kant.

Night Life

3

Not safe to walk around at night as the area is full with robbers and shady people. Many gyms nearby, even local libraries. Popular spots in Kamala Nagar market are perfect hang out spots. Tom uncle ki maggi is overrated. Kamala Nehru Ridge is perfect for morning/evening walks. Many parks nearby. Miranda hostel has no timing restrictions(be thankful to student protests)

Placement Experience:

Only Final year students are eligible for the placement in our college. I don't have much information about companies and no of offers. On an average placement is approx 5-6 lpa and 12 lpa. Approx 40-50 percent students get their placement. I want to pursue masters degree after that.
