- The stringent schedule of college students makes it very difficult
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is pretty vast and comprehensive inculcating most of the spheres of the subject however the problem is with the teaching methods and the type of questions being asked in the examination which is heavily repetitive, purely theoretical with no requirement of analytical knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
Internships have become a really important part rather a need for college students. The placement cell does provide internship opportunities for students however most prefer finding them on their own through Linkden and other websites. Intially you can be made to do free labour or very cheaply paid however with time you can progress to 8-10k per month or as high as 15k depending upon your skill set.
Placement Experience
The placement cell of my college is very active. They hold internships round the year and provide reliable placement at the end of last year. Placement mainly depends upon per student skill rather than the course variability and considering most of the humanities courses are less employable if taken only on the basis of course. However skills are the main deciding factor
Fees and Financial Aid
College is just like any other government college with minimal fees of about 16000-17000 roughly for my course. However the amount is not even less for other humanities courses like political science, sociology, etc. which is purely theoretical sciences. I believe fees is same regardless of any caste other than the EWS category and my college provides numerous scholarships for students mainly on need based however few are merit based as well. Overall it provides great opportunity for those who is in special need of this benefit
Campus Life
Overall my college life is good where I believe you go to college to not only study but also to develop. College has taught me too many lessons which I don't think I would have learned in such a quick span of time. It is especially important considering the fact that I have moved cities to pursue this degree however I can tell it was worth it.
Admission
The admission to most of the du colleges is through an entrance exam known as CUET. My main reason to choose this college over all the other colleges is mainly due to its reputation and good student crowd especially for my course. The colleges I had applied to were also equally nice however du comes with its own prestige and legacy.
Faculty
The student to faculty ratio is overall maintained where classes are even segregated into groups depending upon the overall class size. There are even tutorial lectures which are small batches of students ensuring the easy understanding of each student. However the problem lies at the teaching quality where teachers are not adept with proper training of teaching leaving most students at their own mercy. Nevertheless they are great scholars but bad teachers. Studies at the end becomes only examination based and exams are also marked at the basis of how many pages you are able to fill rather than the content you write.
Night Life
Nightlife is especially happening in Delhi mainly around the north campus region where people are mostly awake till late nights. It is vibrant as well as adventurous. The PGs have an in time however some can also be accommodating if you know the ways! There are round the clock libraries where you can find students grinding their days and nights just for that one seat and my friend that is the real scent of competitiveness
