- The peer group in the college is really good
- The faculty has got good expertise, although the quality of teaching isn't that good in class. However if you wanna collaborate with professors on projects, it's actually excellent.
- The campus has all the leading infrastructure and amenities you'll need. Including research labs, classrooms, 2 restaurants, 3 shopping centers, 2 hair salons and many more
Dislikes
- Even after the flexible courses, there's too much pressure in the core courses, which leads to a huge decrease in the overall gpa.
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester.
Many top companies like Google, microsoft, apple, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan visit the campus for placements.
The highest package I think was 4.3 crores bagged by a student in cs from Jane street trading. Average would be like 15 lpa.
Percentage of students getting placements would be like 60% cause many go for research or higher studies and don't sit for placements
I want to do an ms in some foreign University in cs related subjects after getting the btech degree

- Its a very big college with lots of wildlife in it like deers, blackbucks, snakes etc. So i like it very much here being so close to nature.
- There are lots of different seminar and events that keep happening regularly which help us develop ourselves and we can also try out different things and explore ourselves.
- The academic and coding environment here is very good and my college is a very good place to build yourselves.
Dislikes
- The gender ratio here is like other engineering colleges only, its not very good.
- The first year hostel are very good but the hostels we get after that are not that good.
- Even though we are in the nirf rankings 1 college some of the infrastructure is not good.
Placement Experience:
The are a lot of placement and internship opportunities at iit madras. The placements are very good as compared to other college as iitm is the nirf 1 college. My plans after getting the degree is to work in a tech or a finance filed.

- Campus greenary, deer, monkey this campus is very fascinating, if you visit IIT Madras you will definitely fall in love with nature.

- Hot summer, only bad thing about chennai is hot summer. Every time sweat and hot

Campus placement is average many big company come for interview. Each year 70%+ students get the placement and their dream job. My plan after getting degrees to do job in software company for initial face and post that some business.

- The environment: the campus is lush green with huge trees everywhere
- The clubs: student run clubs at iit Madras are great, the include all categories from science to drama and magic arts
- The curriculum: the curriculum is very light and the faculty is still working on to nake it easier
Dislikes
- Heat factor: being near equator, it experiences a lot of heat during summer
- Language barrier: for students from north , language tends to be an issue as not all natives know English
- North vs south student politics can also be seen
Course Curriculum Overview:
I chose chemical engineering because it is the lightest branch.
The faculty includes professors who have completed their research from esteemed collegea abroad
We follow bi- semester system here, exams are divided as quiz 1, quiz 2 and endsem out of which endsem carry maax weightage
If a person gets low in quiz 1/2 then he can easily catch up in endsem

- I think faculty are not up to the mark and college infrastructure.
- Mess food is not up to the mark because of i from different state.

After sith semester, students can be eligible for campus placements. There will be many companies including international companies like Google, Infosys, Microsoft, etc. The highest package is around 20000000, average package is around 1500000. Getting good placement from college.

Placement Experience:
Placements at IIT Madras are fantastic! Students get the chance to dive into the job market from their 6th semester onwards, and boy, the list of companies that roll in is impressive. You've got giants like Google, Microsoft, and a bunch more snatching up talent left and right.
The highest packages are jaw-dropping and around 14,00,000 a month, and the average ones are nothing to scoff at either. Pretty much everyone here walks away with a sweet job offer. It's a great feeling, I tell you.
As for me, I'm all set to chase my dream tech job after I get that shiny degree. The opportunities are endless, and it's an exciting ride ahead!

- Saarang is one of the main cultural event and you get subsidized tickets for being a student.

- Sometimes professors are really rude they don't even listen to students concerns

We have a placement drive and a portal in which you apply for the company. Almost everyone gets placed in IITM through the portal. It generally comprises sending your resume to a company and they shortlist people based on your CV for exams. Based on your performance in the exam you get selected for an interview and an offer is given.

The student is eligible t sit for placements in their 7th semester. More than 200 companies come for placements with more than 1200 offers. The highest placement is usually for SDE or quant. 70% of the students get placed and the rest take up higher studies and entrepreneurship.

There are around 500 companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, shell, Schlumberger, etc. visit every year and they made a total offer of around 1500. In 2022, the average package was around 21 LPA. After getting my degree, my dream is to become a software developer.

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.
The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.
Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.
