Can a student change branches at IIT Madras?

Students can change their engineering stream if not completely satisfied with the current branch. Applications for branch change are accepted at the end of the first semester. According to the JEE rank, candidates can switch to their preferred branch. Only 10% of each branch is permitted to change branches. The only criterion is the CGPA of the first semester.

The highest package was INR 29.65 LPA and the average package was INR 16.93 LPA. The buildings across the campus are a mix of modern and traditional architecture.
