Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum at IIT Madras is comprehensive and designed to provide a strong foundation in the chosen field of study. the faculty ratio at IIT Madras is 1:15 and there is a faculty advisor for every 10 students. Most of the IIT Madras faculty hold PHD from a highly reputed university. The difficulty of the exam is high and generally, a semester contains 2 quizzes and one end semester.
Internships Opportunities
Almost the same applies to internships and the majority of them get their internship during the intern drive in the third year. I did my internship in Olam International and my stipend was 50,000 per month. Some students did their internship abroad and earned around 6 lakhs per month.
Placement Experience
We have a placement drive and a portal in which you apply for the company. Almost everyone gets placed in IITM through the portal. It generally comprises sending your resume to a company and they shortlist people based on your CV for exams. Based on your performance in the exam you get selected for an interview and an offer is given.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure you will be spending around 28000 a semester including dining and accommodation. They didn't hike the fees after 2018 and It's been the same till 2023. IITM provides interest-free educational loan to those students whose family earns less than 5 lakhs.
Campus Life
IITM has a cultural fest called SAARANG. I had a large variety of cultural clubs like chores, music, oratory etc. There are almost 17 sporting clubs in IIT Madras. The social life is comparatively better as the majority of the people stay in the hostel they tend to roam together almost every single day. There is a big library called the central library and it's open till midnight. All the clubs including placements in student-run in IITM.
Hostel Facilities
About the menu you get non veg to times a day and the meal is mass prepared so you can't expect the home cooked taste. We also have a place called food court which is an mess option that you opt for. In food court you will be provided with restaurant kind of system where you order food and the amount will be deducted from the fee that you paid.
Admission
It is primarily based on JEE for postgraduate the admission is based on GATE, CAT OR JAM. JEE involves two stages JEE MAINS and ADVANCED. The cut-offs change each year based on factors like several candidates, the difficulty level of the exam and the previous year's cut-offs.
