Thapar University conducts an annual lateral entry test in December that allows students a second chance for admission or a stream change, followed by counseling in January. The test pattern is similar to the JEE exam. The faculty, rated 7 out of 10, is diverse and conducts 7-8 lectures daily, along with weekly tutorials, in English or Hindi. Top companies like Microsoft, offering packages up to 55 lakhs, and others like Reliance, Deloitte, and JP Morgan recruit from the campus, offering packages between 6 to 12 lakhs. The average package is around 20 lakhs. Deloitte, Wipro, and Capgemini recruit a significant number of students annually. Around 90% of students secure placements, facilitated by an active placement cell.

Internships, which often lead to pre-placement offers, start in the third year and are mostly paid. Scholarships are available for the top 10% of students each semester based on academic and sports performance, along with support for economically disadvantaged students. Tuition fees typically increase by 10-12 thousand INR per year. The campus features markets, canteens, and a sports complex, enriching student life.
