Remarks

Managements was great and approachable. College is at a place where every eatery is just a few miles away and is very cheap. College itself is a great place to be at. You will love every bit of it if you find good company and branch of your interest.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course cirriculum wasn't that good for our batch because it was changed for just our batch. We were experimented upon with a new curriculum given by a foreign university. Many things were missed out and many subjectd were clubbed so faculty failed to teach two subjects in one and in 5 months time. But now its better and has veen revised again. The course is made such that you can sit in most of the companies that come to the college. If you have it in you and recruiters see the love for chemical engineering or lets say any another thing in you they will take you onboard. Many friends of mine who loved coding but were in chemical engineering got into software companies and consultancies easily because lots of companies visit college and some of them are mass recruiters i.e take 90-100 students at a time and their firing rate is nil.

Placement Experience

3.5

For chemical engineering exclusively there were around 15 companies that visited he college with average package of 6 lpa. Other than that there were companies who allowed all the branched to sit and would take people from all the branches eg deloitte capgemeni, zs. Deloitte usually takes around 70 students from our college every year. Wipro took 100 students and capgemini took 80 students in 2019. So yes if you have the potential and a minimum cgpa of 7 you are secured.

College Events

4

Saturnalia, techno cultural fest. Thapar food festival. Cineyouth, film festival. Frosh for freshers. Mudra cultural fest. Urja sports fest. So there are number of events and participation is huge. Every year celebrities and comedians come to saturnalia and its a huge show.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive I would say. Please save atleast 16 lpa for 4 year course. When compared to other private institutions its more but again college is doing its best to provide world class facilities and exposure to students. Mostly people here are in scholaraships or have taken a loan becuase thapar has been a brand ever since and will always maintain its legacy

Fees and Financial Aid

No. I didnt take any loan or scholarship. My father gave the tuition fee and i used to live in hostel so hostel fee also.

Campus Life

4.5

M:f was 60:40. Only mechanical engineering had lesser girls. Labs are fully equipped. There are multiple technical events and competitions within and outside college which authorities promote. There are technical societies for every branch. Chemical engineering has aiche and iiche society

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes Hostels. The new hostels are superb, homely and very cozy. I loved them and i still love that place. Hostels of Thapar are amazing whether old or new. They all have a canteen open till 12 am and every room is air conditioned. You have to change hostels every year because they are given on year basis. All the same year people are kept together in one hostel. Boys and girls hostels are different and timings used to be 8.30 pm i guess for entry and 6 am if you want to leave hostel early.

Alumni/Alumna

They are very helpful for securing internships and doing projects and also tell you what all to study for on campus placements.

Admission

I gave the lateral entry test exclusively for admission in Thapar. The test is conducted every year in December. It gives a second chance to students who want to join this university and earlier failed to do so, also helps people to change their stream within college. The test has the same pattern as JEE exam and the counselling for the same happena in January. I passed the exam and got a seat in chemical engineering. I always wanted a stream other than computers and electrical and personally chemical engineering attracted me then so I finally chose this and trust me I am really happy to be one.

Faculty

3.5

There used to be 7 to 8 lectures a day with 1 hr tutorial for every subject every week. Faculty is great and helpful. If i want to rate them on a scale of 1 to 10 i will give 7 and trust me teachers here have come from all over india and not just punjab so no teacher teaches in punjabi. People dont have to worry about the language if they are from outside the state. Teachers teach in english or hindi only. There ar industry visits also conducted bu the faculty.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is good and cover every aspects of learning and skills needed in today's time but it feels the semester get over to fast in around 3.5 months with 3 exams and lab exam. They should provide the real learning based on a student interest some student are good in coding but they lack to communicate better, they should focus on that part also as they also do in many cases by giving subjects like soft skills and communication skills every sem.The teacher should not be reading the ppt only . We can do that also why we are paying that much fees just to learn from a teacher who is just reading the slides.

Course Curriculum Overview:

i would rate the course curriculum as largely relevant and fairly comprehensive,. one of the main reasons i chose this course was the balance between conceptual foundations and practical exposure. the curricuum supports future academic growth since many of the modules introduce us to advance topics early, making it easier to explore research. some topics feel slightly outdated and could be aligned better with the current industry skills and technologies. the exam schedule is manageable, though sometimes multiple assessments happen in the same week or same day, ehich adds pressure . Spacing out evaluations a bit more and giving clearer rubrics could improve the overall experience
