What should I take, electrical engineering at IIT Delhi or CSE at BITS Pilani?

IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India. I am a second year B.Tech Electrical student at IIT Delhi. During my time, I was faced with a similar dilemma. But I ended up choosing IIT Delhi over BITS Pilani for my studies. I would recommend you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani because of these reasons: Brand Value: IIT Delhi carries the prestigious “IIT'' tag which holds more brand value than the “BITS Pilani'' tag. This will become important to you when applying to foreign universities for your higher education. Fees: As a government institution, the fees of IIT Delhi is much more affordable as compared to BITS Pilani. This in turn, gives IIT Delhi a higher position in ROI (Return on Investment) because it offers even better placements. It’s best to compare both the branches based on the most common aspects such as Curriculum: The curriculum of both Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation) covers a lot of common topics. The core courses of one may be available as either core courses or elective courses for the other, and vice versa. Only around 5 distinguishing courses are offered. Job opportunities: As far as core placements are concerned, the opportunities offered by both branches are quite different. Some companies might prefer students of one branch over the other. The non-core job roles offered are very similar in both branches. Competition: Electrical Engineering has better-ranking students than Electrical (Power and Automation). Thus the former has better competition than the latter. Someone who is among the top 10 in Electrical is among the top 2-3 in Electrical Power and Automation. IIT Delhi Electrical Engineering offers slightly more opportunities in terms of peer quality and placements than the other.

Which is better at IIT Delhi, electrical engineering or mathematics and computing?

Both the branches, Electrical and MnC have great scope in terms of employment in both core and non-core jobs. However, most high-paying jobs are given to CS students with the Electrical students securing average packages only. Here is when MnC comes to your rescue. It provides opportunities for CS jobs as well as Finance and Analytics, both being highly paid and demanded sectors. The branch attracts huge companies like Goldman Sachs. Anyone with a deep interest in Mathematical concepts and theoretical concepts will find this program very intriguing. The curriculum comprises core math topics like discrete mathematics, combinatorics, algebra, and statistics as well as some CS topics. Electrical on the other hand, has topics like power electronics and electronic circuits which focus on practical implementation rather than theoretical concepts. Department-wise, Electrical is better because of the quality of the faculty pool it has. MnC constantly faces issues related to the quality of teaching and faculty. The faculty in the Maths department is excellent but when it comes to teaching CS electives, it does not impart knowledge better than core CS professors.

What should I choose, Electrical in IIT Mandi or Textile in IIT Delhi?

If you ask me which one to choose I would say choosing Textile from IIT Delhi is a better option than opting for Electrical in IIT Mandi. IIT Delhi is known for its excellent academic standards and research opportunities that it offers to students. IIT Delhi offers 4 years full-time undergraduate program for Textile Engineering, the average course fee is around INR 10-8 lakhs. IIT provides good placement opportunities for the students with about 90% of the students being placed. The highest package is INR 60 LPA and the average package is between INR 15- 20 LPA.

Which is better, IIT Guwahati for CSE or IIT Delhi for EE?

Although both programs are good, I would still recommend IIT Delhi EE over IIT Guwahati CSE. Here are a few reasons that support my recommendation Better job opportunities: The EE department covers various CSE courses making its students eligible to sit for all CSE companies for placements. These companies include Microsoft, Tower Research, Goldman Sachs, etc. Additionally, the students also have the advantage of offers from core EE companies like Nvidia, Intel, and AMD. Great location: Due to its prime location, IIT Delhi is close to many places to explore in Delhi. Some of these are Connaught Place, Khan Market, HKV and the list goes on. Delhi also has better transportation and connectivity than Guwahati. Plus, Delhi has better transport connectivity and is way easier to reach than Guwahati. College Fests: Rendezvous, IIT Delhi's annual cultural fest is the biggest of its kind in North India. There is also Tryst, the tech fest, and Sportech, the sports fest. Amazing startup culture: IIT Delhi is known for its highly encouraging startup culture. Out of the 30 unicorns founded by Indians in the last few years, 15 of them were founded by IIT Delhi Alumni. IIT Delhi helps you with finding, ideas and the necessary resources for startup. Branch change: While branch change might be difficult in other IITs, IIT Delhi has an easy branch-changing policy with over 100 students changing their branches every year. Hence, IIT Delhi EE is a better option than IIT Guwahati CSE.

Which should I choose, CSE at IIT Hyderabad or electrical in IIT Delhi according to placement?

If you are evaluating the institutes based on placements, then you will be pleased to know that IIT Delhi ranks 28th position in the Top 50 of Times Higher Education Global Employability University Ranking and Survey. However, I feel placements should not be the determining factor as the IIT tag will get you placed with a good package irrespective of whichever IIT you choose. The primary determining factor should be your inclination towards a specific branch. If you target a specific branch just based on placements, you are likely to lose interest soon. This will result in a frustrated career. In fact, I have seen many students opt out of CS just because they realize that it’s not their cup of tea and go for average branches that intrigue them genuinely. 1Lakh 5 thousand tuition fee per semester. It is constant. For sc/st , tuition fee is 100% waiver , they have to only pay for admission fee i.e 20000 per semester and they also have to pay for hostel fee i.e. 40000 per semester.

The institute fees and the hostel and mess fees are different and increases in a few years according to the inflation right now for a general category student the institute fees is 1,22,500/- per semester where the tution fees is around 1 lakh which I don't so for a SC/ST student the institute fees is 22,500 per semester. Students can avail other outer scholarships but as the college is government college therefore it does not has it's own scholarship programme

The year wise fees is about more than one lakh including the hostel fees, mess fees, and academics fees, as I am a stude of EWS PWD category. The academic fees of my batchmates of general category is more than 2 lakhs and other fees are same. The is some kind of relaxation of some percentage to EWS students. I am not having any scholarship till now.

The Good, the Bad, and the Memorable: A Review of my College

My Semester Fees being a ST category student in IIT Delhi is nearly around 22,400 /- including one-tike payment for whole course, Refundable caution deposit and other charges. I have No Tution fees as being a ST category student. And the Hostel & mess fees are seperate which are exactly same for every student inclusive of their Category. Which is 35,930 for one sem. The Prices may increase with each sem and I don't know by how much as this is my 1st semester.

the deatiled fee structure of mine is that i had paid the amount of 65,900 in my first semester for that 56000 is the hostel and mess fees and 9990 is the institute fees . in secound sem as i have gotten a fee waiver for my annual parental income so i got my tution fees off only i have to pay is hostel and mess fees that is 28850. all the students have to pay their fees by their category and parental income . for example a general or obc student having parental income more than 5 lakhs have to pay tution fees of 1 lakh and others 22400 so the total amount is 122400. there are a lot of scolarship like nsp, kotak kanya , tata avanti , hans foundation etc .

Get to know IIT

I didn't like the exam schedule, every month there is an exam/quiz

1st payment during admission took around 1L tution fees and 35000 hostel and mess fees. Tution Fees for sc, st, pwd students is 0 and students whose parental income is below 2L is also free tution fee. Many scholarships and financial aid is available, as i mentioned about income below 2L/annum.

Life at IITD

You will have regular quizzes so if you don't manage accordingly so you might end up failing

For me,Yearly around 3 .5 lakhs go(fees +hostel) But for SC/ST/EWS they get free hostel and have reduced fees also. There are a lot of scholarships that a re provided to people with low family income, I haven't availed them so don't know a lot about it but I have seen my batchmates avail them Once you come to iitd you will get regular mails about any such scholarships.

Academic flexibility: the courses are very flexible and one can opt for courses according to his/her interests

For general category, Course:200000 per year Hostel : 66000 per year +~20000(one time deposit which includes security and maintainence fee) Examination and course conduction fee -20000 For students with family income less than 4LPA, the tuition fee is 1/3rd of that. Rest all charges are same. For students with family income less than 1LPA , the tuition fee is completely waived off. Rest all the charges are same. There are various schemes for scholarships like merit ,sports and academic performance (based on Olympiad result and other national level tests.) Following are the names and criterion for scholarships: 1.Vivekanand Scholarship - Applicable for both genders. One fellowship is awarded to a first year UG student of whose parental income is less than 5 LPA. Renewal subject to earn 22 credits and maintain CGPA 7.5 and is not awarded fail grade in any course. 2.Anandipuri scholarships - applicable for male candidates only. One scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate (merit-based)
