Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course which I have opted for currently is ELECTRICAL engineering and IIT Delhi is best ranked in the electrical department by the QS world rankings. As of know, the courses that are being taught to me seem to be highly relevant. It gives us insights of the real world and how the industry works. The exams are very difficult and you have to give in a lot of thought to solve a particular problem. The frequency of exams is also very high. 2 semesters in a year and 1 major and minor in each semester along with several quizzes.

Internships Opportunities

5

Various companies visit the campus for internships. Google, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs , Davinci to name a few offering job opportunities in various fields like coding, app development, web development, finance , consulting etc.

Placement Experience

4

After the 4th semester, a student starts applying for internships (summer and winter) After the 6th semester, a student can sit for placements. In electrical engineering, about 50-100 companies visit the campus (some core and some non-core) offering jobs in various fields like core, finance and consulting. Highest package-1cr Average package-20LPA Almost every students who sits in the placements gets placed. I haven't yet decided what I'll do after a degree but I am looking forward to explore different career options.

Fees and Financial Aid

For general category, Course:200000 per year Hostel : 66000 per year +~20000(one time deposit which includes security and maintainence fee) Examination and course conduction fee -20000 For students with family income less than 4LPA, the tuition fee is 1/3rd of that. Rest all charges are same. For students with family income less than 1LPA , the tuition fee is completely waived off. Rest all the charges are same. There are various schemes for scholarships like merit ,sports and academic performance (based on Olympiad result and other national level tests.) Following are the names and criterion for scholarships: 1.Vivekanand Scholarship - Applicable for both genders. One fellowship is awarded to a first year UG student of whose parental income is less than 5 LPA. Renewal subject to earn 22 credits and maintain CGPA 7.5 and is not awarded fail grade in any course. 2.Anandipuri scholarships - applicable for male candidates only. One scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate (merit-based)

Campus Life

5

Annual fest - Rendezvous (November) Tech fest -TRYST(March) The central library of IITD is well-equipped with books of all aspects from course related to philosophy to humanities to mythological lores to novels , everything. The classroom are technically advanced with staffs managing them. Attendance is taken biometrically. Classes are carried on digitally. The sports are organised at multi levels(intra-hostel,inter hostel, Institute level, inter IIT ). One can opt for a sport for recreation as well as for excellence. Several clubs are present like art, photography, videography, dance, robotics, F1 prototype.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel facilities are in general poor. With tiny rooms for 2 people. Lack of hygiene in washrooms and common rooms. Meals are served of various types in the mess and the quality is also pretty decent. Registration process for hostel is carried out along with the admission. The hostel are very cheap compared to the accommodation facilities outside the campus.

Admission

I had to give JEE Advanced to qualify for this course. The JEE advanced team does a press release for the dates and application form of the examination. I have not availed any reservation benefits. If you have a category certificate then it's comparatively easy to get into this course . The admission process requires a lot of document verification. You have to go through a lot of form fillings and affidavits to get through the process. Personally, I think that the admission process specially for IITs should be more digitalised where they can just access our data through government portals.

Faculty

5

The academic professors are highly qualified and have a great knowledge in their respective working areas. They all share a great bond with the students and many of them are candid with the students as their own kids and assist them in any way possible. Most of the professors have done PhD in their fields from prestigious institutions.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 6th semester onwards. The average package is around 20 LPA and the highest package is 85 LPA. The placements percentage for top branches is around 80% and many big companies like Amazon, Uber, Google, Microsoft, etc. offer placements. After my degree I plan on securing a placement on the tech field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum as **fairly comprehensive and reasonably relevant**, especially in terms of building a strong foundation in core engineering concepts. One of the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course was the **structured curriculum covering important fundamentals such as programming, data structures, mathematics, and core engineering subjects**, which are essential for both technical roles and higher studies. The curriculum provides a solid theoretical base and helps develop analytical thinking, but for real-world applications students often need to complement it with **projects, internships, coding practice, and self-learning**, since some topics are still taught in a more traditional or theoretical way. In terms of improvements, the curriculum could benefit from **more industry-oriented electives, practical assignments, updated lab work, and interactive teaching methods such as case studies or project-based learning**. The exam system typically includes **two major exams per semester — a mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam — along with internal assessments, quizzes, and assignments**. The exams are generally **moderate in difficulty**, and students who attend classes and prepare consistently are able to perform well, though the evaluation tends to focus more on conceptual understanding and written exams rather than purely practical skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really liked physics and applications of physics so chose mechanical engineering, as ut has a lot of application of physics directly can really see how things work not just ideally but actually Curriculum is really good besides getting assignments which noone takes seriously everyone just copies , there must be much more practical stuff so that everyone learns but we do get that in tech teams but not directly as a student in college. There must be practical teachings and proper guidance proper high level machineary must be there, industry visits must be there and internships in such companies must be encouraged There are 5 exams of 1.5 hour considered as mid sems and 6 exams of 3 hours considered as endsems

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.

The frequency of the exams is 2 times a year once in the month of December and once in the month of May. Internal exams (tests) are conducted in between to continuously evaluate you during the course. According to me, the exam should be conducted before itself, so that we can get more time for internship opportunities.
