Course Curriculum Overview

4

First of all, it wasn't entirely my decision to choose Mechanical Engineering, rather circumstances were such that I was forced to take it up because of my jee rank .To be honest, I didn't know much about Mechanical Engineering at first. But after four or five months, I've started to really enjoy it because of my interest in cars and aerospace. College curriculum is not very up to date according to the real world circumstances but still it teachers pretty much everything so you can learn the rest with yourself pretty easily In DTU we have exams twice a semester. First, we have to go through miderms, and then we have to take the endterm exams

Internships Opportunities

2

dtu students get internship opportunities mainly from the 2nd and 3rd year through the placement cell or personal applications. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe and Deloitte offer roles such as Software Development Intern, Data Analyst Intern, and Business Analyst Intern. Stipends usually range from ?20,000 to ?1,50,000 per month depending on the role. Interns work on tasks like developing software features, analyzing datasets, or assisting in product development, which helps them gain industry experience and sometimes secure ppos

Placement Experience

3

From 6th-7th semester students become eligible for campus placement The placement process starts in July August of the 4th year and continues until March pril Students can apply for internships from the 3rd year, and many companies offer PPO (Pre-Placement Offers) based on internships Some of the top recruiters include Google Microsoft Amazon Adobe Atlassian Apple Deloitte Goldman Sachs Samsung Salesforce Bain & Company Flipkart Myntra (I copy pasted this from college official pdf and from website) Highest is 85+ lpa i guess according to dtu website and some seniors also told me that Overall average package is 15-18 LPA for btech Common roles offered include Software Development Engineer (SDE) Data Scientist -Data Analyst Product Engineer Business Analyst My plans after getting degree is --getting a core placement in oil refinery or oil rig

Fees and Financial Aid

In DTU for all branches the fees structure is same . I took admission in 2024 and my fee structure is as follows 1st yr - 236700 2nd yr- 246700 3rd yr - 266700 4th yr - 286700 The fees is same for all category students. But later on DTU itself does a fee concession interviews with students and deserving low economical status students receive fees refund from the college. Many scholarship are also available for students (some govt. scholarships are easy to get for category students). Rest assured if you are honestly a deserving student , then you'll get the scholarship easily, so focus on getting in DTU not on fees Some prominent scholarships in DTU -NSP - e-district delhi govt. scholarship -DTU fee concession rounds -Dell scholarship

Campus Life

4

The most prominent cultural festival is Engifest, which is typically held in February and is managed by the DTU Cultural Council along with various cultural societies such as the dance, music, dramatics, and fashion societies. Engifest attracts thousands of students from universities across India and features concerts, dance competitions, fashion shows, drama performances, and celebrity appearances. It provides a major platform for students to showcase their artistic talents and also gives organizing students experience in large-scale event management. The university’s flagship technical festival is Invictus, also usually conducted around February. This fest is coordinated by the DTU Technical Council and various technical societies such as robotics, coding, and electronics clubs. Invictus includes hackathons, robotics competitions, coding contests, engineering design challenges, and technical workshops conducted by industry experts. It encourages innovation, problem-solving, and collaboration among engineering students from different institutions. DTU provides extensive sports infrastructure: Outdoor Sports Cricket ground Football ground Basketball court Volleyball court Lawn tennis courts Indoor Sports Table tennis Badminton Chess and carrom The campus also has a sports complex and facilities for inter-college tournaments. Students regularly participate in inter-university competitions and sports festivals.

Hostel Facilities

3

The rooms are typical student rooms with essentials like a bed, study table, chair, cupboard, fan, and basic lighting. They are not very luxurious, but they are sufficient for daily student needs. Mess Meal --most days 2.5/5 Sometimes 1.5/5 Rarely 3.5/5 Hostel accommodation at dtU is limited. It is mainly available for students from outside Delhi and for some Delhi students who live very far from the campus. Students typically need to apply through the official hostel registration process, and seats are allotted based on eligibility and availability. Compared to many private accommodations, the hostel fees are relatively affordable for students. The locality around the college is generally considered safe for living, as it is surrounded by many PGs and student residences

Admission

I have applied to GGSIPU , AKTU and other state colleges , I got admission in all of them but DTU was better than them So i chose it I also managed to crack bits goa but the fees was legit too high for me to afford I get rejected from lower NITS because of my rank. Rank is the only deciding factor in getting into college, nothing else college admission was just like school admission. The only difference was the huge pile of documents. You have to submit so many papers, category documents, residence documents To be eligible, you need to score at least 60% in your Class 12th boards for all category students You also have to sit for the JEE exam, and your admission depends entirely on your JEE rank

Faculty

3

The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good. While it's not possible to have a teacher for every 10 students like schools but the ratio remains decent. the teachers are very helpful if you approach them personally or in their cabin Some of the prof i like personally Prof ranganath singari Prof. Raj Kumar Singh (rks) Prof. RC singh Ajay Solanki Some of the prof I don't like personally Prof.bb arora Brajesh nandan (teaches 1st yr physics) Exams are pretty doable in colleges .The main problem is building your skillset along with the exams classes and assignments. Backlog is also pretty common in colleges but you'll eventually clear it

Interview Experience

3

No , I am currently in my 2nd year of mechanical engineering and I don't applied for jobs yet. I did my internship in my 2nd yr winter break in maruti because my brother works there as a senior manager in R and D department

Night Life

4

Life at Delhi Technological University isn’t just about classes. After lectures, students usually hang out at campus cafés like HIMS, Nescafe, and KitKat, which are popular spots to relax and chat. Amul Lane, oat VLB Road, and the abandoned building are common hangout places where students sit with friends in the evenings. The gym is used by many students, while the library and most academic areas close by evening. Hostel students follow in-timings at night, so most late-night activities happen inside the campus. The campus itself is generally safe, but the nearby Samaypur Badli area is considered less safe at night, so students usually prefer staying within the campus for evening walks or hangouts.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 6th semester onwards. The average package is around 20 LPA and the highest package is 85 LPA. The placements percentage for top branches is around 80% and many big companies like Amazon, Uber, Google, Microsoft, etc. offer placements. After my degree I plan on securing a placement on the tech field.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course curriculum as **fairly comprehensive and reasonably relevant**, especially in terms of building a strong foundation in core engineering concepts. One of the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course was the **structured curriculum covering important fundamentals such as programming, data structures, mathematics, and core engineering subjects**, which are essential for both technical roles and higher studies. The curriculum provides a solid theoretical base and helps develop analytical thinking, but for real-world applications students often need to complement it with **projects, internships, coding practice, and self-learning**, since some topics are still taught in a more traditional or theoretical way. In terms of improvements, the curriculum could benefit from **more industry-oriented electives, practical assignments, updated lab work, and interactive teaching methods such as case studies or project-based learning**. The exam system typically includes **two major exams per semester — a mid-semester exam and an end-semester exam — along with internal assessments, quizzes, and assignments**. The exams are generally **moderate in difficulty**, and students who attend classes and prepare consistently are able to perform well, though the evaluation tends to focus more on conceptual understanding and written exams rather than purely practical skills.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really liked physics and applications of physics so chose mechanical engineering, as ut has a lot of application of physics directly can really see how things work not just ideally but actually Curriculum is really good besides getting assignments which noone takes seriously everyone just copies , there must be much more practical stuff so that everyone learns but we do get that in tech teams but not directly as a student in college. There must be practical teachings and proper guidance proper high level machineary must be there, industry visits must be there and internships in such companies must be encouraged There are 5 exams of 1.5 hour considered as mid sems and 6 exams of 3 hours considered as endsems

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really good, i was always intered in the Engineering perspective of cars, and I must say it tries to deliver but doesnt sicces that well, atleast till now. For example I was really interested to study IC Engines this semester, it was a 4 credit main course, but I got RGautam as a teacher and in lab there are just artificial small models which are cross-section of various engines scaled down. So I felt really bad As I said earlier, the exams are relatively easy.
