The student and teacher ratio will be around 15:1 , which is very good for your academic development , they are easily approachable , the faculties like varun sharma , dheeraj mishra, neeraj vishwakarma are very good in teaching as well as personality, there are no any teacher whom i dont like, it may be possible that someone don't like the way of teaching but i think there is no student which are like this, there are mainly 2 exams in each semester . first is mid sem and secon one is End sem. each semester is of 200 marks . End sem have 100 marks , mid sem have 40 marks and remaining 60 percent marks includes internal quiz , assignment , attendence . The toughness of exam depends of the nature of faculties , some faculty makes tough paper and some faculties make easier paper .Very less amount of student fells in the exam , negligible, The course curriculum is structured as per demand of industry .So there is very high scope of growth. You will build better understanding of business , finance and economics , Application of these knowledge will improve your productivity.

Course Curriculum Overview

Specific aspects of curriculum that I want to share is Econometrics. My course curriculum is very helpful for preparing myself for real World application. There are many tools are have to learn in this course that I have used in real world such as R.also Econometrics is one of the tool also . There are many aspects for improvement such as there are not any mathematics and statistics paper in whole semester but there is paper of mathematical economics econometrics. students are from different backgrounds facing problems. There are exams after 1 or 2 months exam are moderate tough.it depends upon faculty members.

Faculty

Faculties to Students ratio is 1:10 , And Faculties and students relationship are very strong in this context.Faculties are very much supportive and approachable. I liked Masud sir the most.because he not not only faculty but also a good friend. Also Varun sir is very supportive and kind hearted person. I don't like personally marketing ma'am.Because I got less number in this subject. There are 2 exams in one semester one is mid semester exam and another is end semester exam. Mid semester exam is hard Comparisons to end semester exam.It depends upon faculties.

Faculty

There is a 1:5 faculty-to-student ratio for our M.Sc. programs. The relationship with the faculties is healthy here. The faculties are really helpful. and knowledgeable. Dr. (CA) Varun Sharma is one of the faculty members I want to mention. He is just one of a kind. He has a versatile knowledge in various fields. Apart from academic help, he is open to any kind of support for the students. There are no faculties that we can hate. Every faculty member is really good and respected here. They are just like the faculty member of an institute of national importance. They are very much justifying their names. There are a total of 4-semester exams. If you study throughout the year you can easily clear the exams. Apart from that there are some internal exams and class quizzes. Overall the course curriculum is very much relevant to industry 4.0. All the students of this course are very capable of having success in the current industry scenario.

Fees and Financial Aid

The semester-wise fee for my course is nearly Rs. 57000. There are 2 semesters per year. This course is for 2 years. All kinds of fees are included in that 57000. But there are hostel fees of Rs. 3000 and mess fees of Rs. 15000. These fee structures is suitable for all the categories of students. There are various kinds of scholarships are available in this institute. As for the local state student, there is a scholarship offered by the UP government itself. Other than that there are National Scholarship Program by the Education Ministry of India for PG students. But this NSP is a completely merit-based scholarship program.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum are at another level. I asked in many universities but nowhere I found such syllabus what I taught in Calcutta University. Generally in MSC per sem there are 4 papers but in Calcutta there are 5 papers per sem. And curriculum are very relevant to market and related to real life problem . They not only teach technical part of topic but also especially focus on real life problem and teach us how to solve this type of problem.

The course curriculum is very relevant to the real world. We get to learn about Economics, which includes how our entire monetary system works, what is economic development, and how economic policies are thought upon. There were 33 students in my class and 13 faculties in our department. Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was amazing, it was primarily based on the curriculum followed by the world's leading economics institutions such as the London School of Economics & Berlin School of Economics. This made the course engaging and equally rigorous for students so that they can delve deep into the subject and specialization of their own choice.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are plenty for anyone willing to go ahead with them, I personally got an internship during my time at the college in a semi govt. research entity in Mumbai which was an amazing experience for me. Especially, in order to help me get a glimpse into the work life that I was about to enter after college.

Ques. How is the MSc in economics in IIT Kharagpur?

● Top Answer By Ajay Diwan on 22 Mar 23

Ans. The Economics branch is slowly becoming one of the best branches of IIT Kharagpur. Integrated M.Sc. (5 years) in Economics opens with JEE rank 3615 and closes at 5439 as per JoSAA 2022. However, it’s not necessary to evaluate a course on the basis of its opening and closing rank because you can get your branch changed on the basis of your performance in the first year. A student has to obtain around 8.73 CGPA in order to get their branch changed to Economics. You will have to work very hard to get a high CGPA for branch change. Curriculum: I have entailed some topics covered over the semesters. For a detailed list, you can visit the official website. Ques. I want to pursue a master's in economics. Which one should I choose: Delhi School of Economics, JNU, Indian Statistical Institute, Paris-Sorbonne University or University of Munich?

● Top Answer By Snigdha Goyal on 08 Jul 22

Ans. All of these institutes are excellent choices for a masters in Economics. If you want to study Quantitative and Mathematical Economics, then ISI will be the best option among these. ISI Kolkata placements are pretty good. Students get recruited as Data scientists, Financial Analysts, Risk Analysts, and other similar positions. You will get good scopes for higher studies as well.  DSE is an excellent option for Economics masters. It offers good placements. Recent highlights of DSE placements show the average CTC for MA Economics is around INR 5 LPA. But the institute has a huge batch size.  Paris Sorbonne University and University of Munich are excellent options as well. These institutes are especially good for research. Read more

Ques. Is the M.Sc (Economics) + B.E. (Hons.) dual-degree from BITS Goa a better option than CSE from NIT Surathkal?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Kapoor on 16 Sept 23

Ans. You must first introspect if you really like coding or not. CSE is a trendy branch these days because of the high packages it offers. But those who land a job in top brands are deeply interested in, and an expert of coding. If you are genuinely interested in coding, NIT Surathkal CSE is a great option for you. It’s a good college with a good campus life. I also pursued my dual degree with an MSc. in Economics from NIT Goa. The Economics department of my college is great. The curriculum is rich, and courses like Econometrics, MSM, Applied Econometrics, etc. are a great help when applying for placements in Analytics firms. Even for an MBA, an Economics degree is very useful. The faculty for Economics is great. MSc. Economics offers less burden than other specializations like Maths or Physics. The course offers very good electives like Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Financial Management, etc. With a dual degree, you’ll get an extra year to choose your engineering branch. Now if you opt for a dual degree from BITS Goa, be prepared to work really hard. The crowd is quite competitive. You’ll need to work hard to manage two programs simultaneously. The fees at BITS are quite high in comparison to NITs. NITs won’t provide you top-notch lodging and food facilities like BITS. For higher education too, the BITS tag holds more value. The curriculum at NITs isn’t as flexible as that offered at BITS. Both are renowned colleges. You should make a choice based on your priorities.Read more

Ques. Is it better to get a degree of an M.Sc. in Economics from IIT Kharagpur or BITS Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Atul Sharma on 27 Mar 23

Ans. It’s better to talk about both institutes individually to make a more informed decision. IIT Kharagpur offers a 5-year Integrated M.Sc in Economics and has a wide scope today. There are many advantages to being a part of the IIT KGP family It has a rich culture Learn and explore new things  Branch change at the end of the first year  You can seek great help from seniors You get a lifetime tag of being an IITian Similarly, BITS Hyderabad too offers an integrated MSc degree in Economics. Additionally, you can add an extra major (BE course) in your first year, but this is optional. The institute has no lucrative points apart from the fact that it is a decent Engineering college sought by those who are unable to make it into IITs. Personally, I would suggest you go for an IIT because of the brand name and legacy. You won’t regret this decision later because of the IIT Tag that will already come to your rescue.Read more
