What Students Say
Likes
- Being one of the best engineering colleges in India it has better equipments and facilities as compared to other colleges.
- Focuses on other parts also rather than studies.
- You get to compete and learn from the best minds of the country
Dislikes
- Though it is one of the best engineering colleges in India there's a very unequal gender ratio
- The hostel infrastructure is too old and sometimes I as a student face difficulty living in hostels
- The study curriculum is completely different from that of the school
Course Curriculum Overview
The course sometimes feels irrelevant except some of the courses which come into use while doing the jobs at various different companies in real world. The course's could include lab work to make us understand the real life things which come into use. Let students choose what course they want to specialise in. We are busy at some days of the week.
Internships Opportunities
Various big companies or MNCs come for campus placement interviewing and these include every kind of fields like quant, consulting, data analyst, production, etc. Some big and known companies like Google, samsung, graviton, da vinci etc. The students work to improve their resumes for better chances of getting placements so, they do various projects.
Placement Experience
Generally the 4th year students are eligible for placement process where the students give interviews for the in campus placements. Whereas generally the good students get pre placement offers from different companies. A wide range of different companies come to take interviews like quant, tech, finance, etc. Generally, mostly good students having a CGPA above 7.5 get placed and the remaining try to get off campus placements. I also want to get a better placement in my 4th year
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute fees and the hostel and mess fees are different and increases in a few years according to the inflation right now for a general category student the institute fees is 1,22,500/- per semester where the tution fees is around 1 lakh which I don't so for a SC/ST student the institute fees is 22,500 per semester. Students can avail other outer scholarships but as the college is government college therefore it does not has it's own scholarship programme
Campus Life
Our college conducts many fests throughout the year such as rendezvous, kaizen, trust etc. The college library is one of the biggest library of the city and has a wide range of books available for its students. The classes have various tech facilities including big seating area, air conditioning, projection screens etc. There are various clubs and societies, cultural and studious.
Hostel Facilities
The first 2 years we have to share the hostel rooms with other 2 students, and the are recently sized but has poor facilities that is just a table chair and bed that's it. Some hostels have really great food but some have the worst acoording to the chef's. The menu change every month. The hostel is in south delhi near the RK Puram metro station.
Admission
I really wanted the best college than any better branch in any lower ranked college. So, I got the seat in this college. Although my first choice was IIT Bombay. I didn't had the rank that was needed to get a seat in that college. We gave the Jee mains and jee advance exams which are the entrance exams for these colleges and according to whatever rank we get in these exams we are alloted seats in college. The passing cut off for advance was 109 out for 360.
Faculty
Faculty is more than enough for the large group of students. But generally students don't really go side on side with the professors and study mostly on their own. But, you can ask anything to the professors regarding studies. Some faculties though have a great knowledge but don't really know or have the teaching skills to make the students understand. There are two main exams in the whole semester for each course that is a mid semester exam called minors and the end semester exam called majors and some courses take quizzes acoordingly. Each course has a course coordinator and he make the course policy accordingly.
Night Life
The hostels have a whole lot of facilities but the infrastructure is quite old as the hostels are old many of them are like 50 to 60 years old. Hostels are always open except for the vacations and the college timings are generally from 9 am to 5 pm with 2hr break in between. The college has various cafeteria, and canteens for the students where students hangout when they are free.
