• If you stay in India, you’ll probably pursue an MBA, UPSC, or IT.
• If you aim to go abroad for research or an MS, keep in mind that no research or corporate job is possible without a taste of Computer Science.

Kharagpur boasts an impressive placement record with more than 90% of students getting placed, and companies like Amazon and Google actively recruiting, while Delhi's stats, although good, seem to lag a bit behind. The average package at Kharagpur is also significantly higher, making it a more attractive option for those focused on immediate job prospects. If you're leaning towards a high-paying job in tech, IIT Kharagpur is the better choice, while IIT Delhi might suit those interested in a balanced lifestyle and alternative career paths.

• Superior placement opportunities (trust me, many multinational corporations like Samsung Korea and Rubrik U.S. don’t visit IIT Kharagpur, but they frequently come to IIT Delhi to hire students for internships and placements).

Additionally, IIT Delhi is situated in the heart of Delhi (specifically South Delhi) and is conveniently close to the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theatres, and bars to enjoy during weekends.

In contrast, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus.

Also, while I usually don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, you can rely on them when they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.

• On the flip side, if you have a genuine passion for Chemical Engineering, opting for IIT Delhi makes sense. The placements for Chemical students are excellent, but again, hard work is essential here too.
• If you're considering entrepreneurship, UPSC CSE, CAT, etc., then IIT Delhi is the way to go.

After four years, if you still want to enter core electrical or software companies (most B.Tech graduates end up in analyst, consulting, finance, etc.), you’ll have ample opportunities. Trust me, you won’t regret this choice!

The same branches at IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur are about 1500–2000 Advanced ranks apart. If you’re getting a department you’re happy with at Delhi, definitely go for it! The top 3 IITs provide an unmatched environment and opportunities that no other institute can offer.

• IIT Delhi's campus is not as polluted as the city of Delhi, and once you’re there, you won’t notice much of a difference.
• However, do consider your health. If you have any breathing issues, IIT Kharagpur might be the better choice for you.
