Hi, I am a mechanical student at IIT KGP (I faced the same dilemma in 2011).

• If you have even a slight interest in coding or computers, go for CSE.
• Honestly, CSE at IIT Guwahati has WAY better placements and internships compared to a mechanical student at IIT KGP.
• On the other hand, if you consider overall development, IIT KGP can offer you more opportunities, especially if you're not an introvert.

So, it's really up to you.

• If you want to avoid complications in life, choose CSE at IIT G.
• But if you're eager to learn a variety of things and experience everything the world has to offer, come to KGP!

IIT Delhi.

Here are the reasons:

• Better professors.
• Higher calibre of your future batchmates.
• Superior placement opportunities (trust me, many multinational corporations like Samsung Korea and Rubrik U.S. don’t visit IIT Kharagpur, but they regularly come to IIT Delhi for internships and placements).
• More chances for pursuing further studies at top-tier international universities.

Additionally, IIT Delhi is located in the heart of Delhi (South Delhi, to be precise) and is not far from the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theatres, and bars to enjoy on weekends.

In contrast, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus!

I usually don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, but you can rely on them when they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.

• The facilities here are top-notch.
• There are excellent tie-ups to support startups and projects.
• Many companies that don't visit KGP for placements come to IIT Delhi!

So, if you're leaning towards Computer Science, IIT Delhi is a fantastic option!
