Firstly, IIT Delhi was established in 1961 and is one of the premier institutes in our nation where many aspirants strive to gain admission. Every college, whether IITs, NITs, or any other institution, has its unique features that attract students. Older institutions have a well-established culture and foundation, while newer ones are doing their best to compete with the older IITs in all aspects. Therefore, I don’t recommend judging a college solely based on its year of establishment. Consider current opportunities and growth.

Now, regarding Old IITs vs. New IITs, the major differences I’ve observed are in culture, alumni relations, and the legacy they carry, along with the opportunities available.

Culture
The culture at our college is deeply rooted. We don’t refer to our residential blocks as hostels; we call them halls because they feel more like home.
Illumination, commonly known as Illu in our college, is a significant event where we celebrate Diwali. Halls are decorated with panels of diyas and rangoli, competing for the best display.
The spirit we have for our hall is on a different level. Whether it’s the General Championships or Illumination time, we give our all for our hall.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offers a strong edge in placements, especially with tech giants like Amazon and Google actively recruiting from the campus. The curriculum is well-structured, focusing on AI/ML, which is in high demand. While IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering also provides solid opportunities, the job market for aerospace is comparatively narrower and can be more impacted by economic downturns. Both colleges have excellent faculty and campus life, but if you’re looking for better job prospects and internships, IIT Delhi is the way to go, especially as tech continues to dominate. If you're passionate about aerospace and willing to navigate a more niche field, then IIT Kharagpur could be your choice.
