IIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

IIT Delhi is consistently ranked among the top engineering institutions in India. Its brand name will significantly improve your employment prospects after graduation. Moreover, the ‘IIT’ tag will be beneficial if you apply for higher education in foreign universities in the near future. 

The Chemical Engineering program at IIT Delhi is known for its rigorous curriculum.

The department has state-of-the-art facilities and top industry collaborations. This allows the students to gain excellent research exposure. Moreover, the placements at IIT Delhi are better than those at IIT Indore due to the former’s strong industry connections.

Due to the various reasons listed above, I would recommend you choose Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at IIT Indore. 

I am a Civil Engineering student at IIT Delhi. 

Even though CoE/ CSE/ IT are much more sought after by students in the present times, I would choose Civil at IIT Delhi over CoE at NSUT. 

Here are the reasons for the same:

• The faculty at IIT Delhi is much more experienced and learned than that at NSUT.
• IIT Delhi was established in 1961, while NSUT in 1983. Because of this, IIT Delhi has a stronger alumni network.
• IIT Delhi is a globally recognized brand, while NSUT is usually only known to students of North India. The “IIT” brand is immensely helpful when applying to foreign universities for higher studies. 
• Although civil freshers are rarely in demand, a civil engineer with enough work experience, the right set of skills, and great project accomplishments is paid a high salary.

Unfortunately, the branch-wise placement detail is not available for both these institutes.   

However, based on the various reasons listed above, I would recommend you choose IIT Delhi Civil Engineering over NSUT CoE.

NIT Trichy and IIT Delhi are two highly ranked engineering colleges in India. 

Here is a comparison table between CSE branch of NIT Trichy and Electrical branch of IIT Delhi for your reference:

The branch-wise placement details for IIT Delhi are unfortunately not available. However, as seen above, both the colleges offer really good placements in B.Tech programs.

But IIT Delhi Electrical is a better option because this institution carries a bigger brand name, and the ‘IIT’ tag. This will be immensely important for you when applying for higher studies after your graduation. Moreover, plenty of employees give preference to an ‘IIT’ tag over an ‘NIT’ tag.

IIT Delhi is located in the national capital, which is really beneficial in terms of exposure. Moreover, IIT Delhi will give you much more opportunities as compared to NIT Trichy. You can learn coding in your leisure time while studying electrical, in case you are interested in working in the IT sector.

Because of these reasons, I would recommend you choose EE at IIT Delhi over CSE at NIT Trichy. 

I am a B.Tech Chemical Engineering student at IIT Delhi. According to me, these are the main factors you should consider while making up your mind:

• Demand: CSE is more in-demand than chemical engineering.
• Brand: The “IIT” tag holds more brand value than the “BITS” tag. The “IIT” tag will be more advantageous if you want to apply to foreign universities for higher education later on.
• Fees: IIT Delhi is an affordable choice, whereas, BITS Pilani has high fees for its engineering programs. Additionally, IIT Delhi has better placements, which places it at a better position in terms of ROI.

Even though CSE is a highly sought after branch in the current market, I would suggest you opt for Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi will offer a better ROI, and its brand name will be of immense benefit if you wish to pursue higher studies in India and abroad after graduation.

You can do some research on the career and research opportunities after Chemical Engineering, and see if this branch aligns with your future goals.

IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani are two highly reputed institutions for engineering studies in India. I am a second year B.Tech Electrical student at IIT Delhi. During my time, I was faced with a similar dilemma. But I ended up choosing IIT Delhi over BITS Pilani for my studies.

I would recommend you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi over CSE at BITS Pilani because of these reasons:

• Brand Value: IIT Delhi carries the prestigious “IIT'' tag  which holds more brand value than the “BITS Pilani'' tag. This will become important to you when applying to foreign universities for your higher education. 
• Fees: As a government institution, the fees of IIT Delhi is much more affordable as compared to BITS Pilani. This in turn, gives IIT Delhi a higher position in ROI (Return on Investment) because it offers even better placements.

I think institutions are good for students, but being a student of IIT Delhi, I can vouch for it. Opting for IIT Delhi maths and computer is a good option if you are interested in CS as compared to faking CS from IIT Hyderabad.
