NIT Silchar admission to UG, PG and Ph.D. courses in 20 departments is primarily based on national-level entrance exams. Among all programmes, B.Tech is considered the flagship course offered at NIT Silchar with an approved intake of 884 seats. Admissions to NIT Silchar BTech course are made on the basis of seats allocated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) from the list of candidates selected by JEE Main. The University offers doctorate level programs as well in almost all disciplines under the Institute. Applications are accepted for these programs in two batches, the first being the July – December batch where applications close towards the end of the month of April.
NIT Silchar PhD Eligibility Criteria
- M.E./M.Tech. or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (60% of marks). At least 8.0 (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent (75% of marks). For graduates from IITs/NITs, the minimum CPI requirement is 7.0 (on a 10 point scale).

- The college environment is good between nature surrounded by lakes and beauty.
- The faculty is good enough and the teaching methodology is satisfactory.

Admission:
The main criteria was the NIRF ranking and recommendations of some seniors here. The main reason of not getting in other colleges was my JEE rank. As we get these colleges as per the rank this was the best I could get

- The college has a huge lush green campus of 650 acres with plenty of sports facilities a basketball court , football field ,Tennis court, Basketball court , Indoor stadium Kho kho and Kabaddi field and a Student activity Center
- The professors are highly qualified with some being in the list oh world's top 2% scientist in the world.
Dislikes
- The Time Schedule might turn out quite hectic at times at time classes starting from 8 am in the morning to 5 PM in the evening
- Though teachers are highly qualified not all are good at teaching and some are at times even too strict
Admission:
I chose this collgege because it is in my homestate has a great allumni connection , great placement and highly qualified faculties. The other colleges I applied for were NIT Durgapur , AEC,NIT callicut,IIIT Pune,NIT Andhra Pradesh. NIT SIlchar has largest campus amomg all these colleges...and a great placement. I couldn't get into NIT Calicut because my rank was not good enough, I got NIT andhra Pradesh CIvil but I didn't like the branch . I got into AEC CSE but itd placement record is not good.

- Sports facilities are very good like very big cricket and football ground with lightning facilities and indoor complex for indoor games like badminton table tennis etc
- Campus area is 660 acres and there is greenery all around the campus
Dislikes
- Weather conditions are not quite good there is rain at any time
- Vegetarians face a little bit problems in nit cafe and shops
Admission:
Nit Silchar is at 7th position in the nirf ranking of nit's means among top 10 nit's in india that's why I choose it it's campus area is 660 acres i.e. among largest campus in best colleges in india nit Silchar is heaven on earth it has 20 lakes

This is good college overall and it's placement record is far better than other private colleges and most of NIT so I choose here CSE . Eligibility for admission in this college is 75% in 12th , qualified jee mains examination with minimum 99%ile . Very easy admission process and seniors are guide to you during your admission process so it is very helpful

- There are various sports facilities available in the campus.
Dislikes
- The ratio of boys and girls is 4:1 which is not good for social interaction.
- The classes are there from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. those we have very less time for self study.
Admission:
Ine josaa counseling , I had applied it for NIT Silchar and Assam University Silchar. NIT Silchar is found to be better than Assam University in various rankings like NIRF ranking etc. Students have to appear for joint entrance examination to get admission in b.tech courses in NIT Silchar. Students have to perform a good score in joint entrance examination as more than 14 lakh students applied for the examination this year and only some thousands students were able to get a good NIT, IIT, IIIT etc.
Likes
- The College is overall beautiful, Campus life is good , lots of society for improvement, it’s very greenery here
- Infrastructure is quite good , have Asias biggest digital library which look super cool, super Sport facility
Dislikes
- Girl:boy =1:4 which is not good for social interaction
- Internet connection in hostel is very poor, although LAN connection is available but still not fast
Admission:
I have given jee mains + jee advanced, so I was trying for every IIT and NIT but unfortunately my score was not that good , that's why I choose NIT Silchar. The admission process of this college is quite simple 1st Appear for JEE mains 2nd score a good mark 3rdApply for JOSSAA counselling 4th Select NIT Silchar After the result declaration of JOSSAA counselling, you will be in our college
Likes
- The college campus has a lot of greenery and its just absolutely beautiful.
- The extra curricular activities in the institute provide a massive opportunity for students to explore different clubs and develop their personality along with the academics.
Dislikes
- The quality of hostel facilities needs to be improved.
- The mess food has been a great upset for most of the students.
Admission:
I chosed this college over the other colleges as the branch which I was aiming for I could get it in this institute and the various factors such as the campus life,placement and other skill developing opportunities I would get here.The admission process of our college is based on the jee mains score and the josaa counseling.After the document verification and online reporting in the josaa website, we are notified to visit the institute for physical verification and at the same day we can move to our hostel and start our new journey.

- Campus is in a very Remote area . Communication is worst
- LAN is hostel is worse and you don't even get access to internet in most of the hostels
Admission:
The main reason for selecting this college was the fact that this was the only college in my state with an NIT tag. The other NITS close to me with Durgapur and North eastern and NITS. So I preferred and it Silchar about them because it has a good NIRF ranking and it also comes under the top 10 NITs in India. That was the only reason for choosing this college. Also this college has a beautiful campus and very vibrant fests and all so I chose this

- Beautiful lush green Campus with amazing weather.
- Good Infrastructure, Very Good placements.
Dislikes
- Campus is far from west indian and South Indians
Admission:
This was the best college that I can get on my JEE All india Rank. So, I joined here. I joined here because it is the Institute of National importance. It has very good infrastructure, good placements. Admission process is very smooth here.
Likes
- Firstly the campus is very big, thus makes one feel good for the amount of space it has, and is filled with greenery.
- The sports facility is great, it has all kinds of sports like cricket, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, etc
Dislikes
- Infrastructure of the college is very old, as it is an old college of 1960-70s, so that development can be made by the authorities
- Thought it has a lot of greenery, but the place is very harsh in regards to climate, its very hot in summers, with high humidity
Admission:
I didn't apply to other colleges, only applied here. For this college, we had to qualify jee mains and sit for counselling where we selected a priority list for our college preference. I got into this college, and later I had to keep up with their official website to know what had to be done, had to provide 10 and 12 marksheets, proof of my JEE score and admission fees as documents, and thus got admitted.

The eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D Humanities and Social Science course is a Master’s degree in any field with a minimum 6.0 CGPA or equivalent (55% of marks).
Any candidate who have a minimum cutoff of 50 percentile in CAT Entrance exam is eligible for NIT Silchar MBA finance program.
