For my rank, the best I could get was this particular institute, so I landed here. No, there wasn't any interview process involved. My interest in Engineering and more precisely towards Electronics made me choose the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering branch here in NIT Silchar.

I am a student of NIT Silchar and my name is Shivam Purbey and i am paying 67000 per year not including the mess fees . I am a OBC student and my family income is below 1 lakh so i pay Rs 0 for tuition fees. The mess fees for per year is Rs 45000.The college has taken advance fees Rs 20000 which will be refunded after the completion of B .Tech . The college has taken fees 11000 per semester for all other fees like registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees, medical fees, gym fees, water fees, TV fees, mess management fees, hostel room rent, light charge, T&P charge etc. One of my friend who is general category student has paid 73500 per semester as tuition fees and all other fees are same for all categories. Some of the scholarships that are available for students such as PM yashasvi scholarship (which provide Rs 80000 for ug student per year), Reliance Foundation scholarship( which provide Rs 2 lakh for ug student for full course). There are also some other scloharship for ug students.

I am a student of Nit silchar pursuing Btech in Electronics and Communication Engineering .I am currently in the 1st year and i am paying Rs 67000 per year excluding the mess fees. There are three fee concession based on the annual family income. If the family income is below 1 lakh 100% tution fees is waived. And if the income is between 1-5 lakhs 2/3rd tution fees is waived.and if the income is above 5 lakhs all of the fees is to be paid.

I have paid a year-wise fees of rupees 1 lakh 78 thousand rupees including my tution fees of around 1lakh 25 thousand and my hostel+mess fees of rupees 53 thousand,mess caution fees was around 25500 rupees and lab and other fees were included in tution fees only,their is no tution fees for sc, st candidates and for the students whose family income is below 1lakh also have no tution fees,for students whose family income is above1 lakh but below 5lakh has to pay 1/3 of the tution fees but the students whose family income is above 5 lakh has to pay full tution fees
The tuition fees for b tech is 62000 per semester for general male with family income more than 5 lac. It if off for those with family income less than 1 lac. Hostel and mess fees is 22000 per semester and other fees is 10000 per semester. In 22000 some amount will be refunded depending upon the material used by mess
The fees for general students (above 5 lakh income) is around 1 lakh per semester where around 22k accounts for the mess fees. The tuition fees is around 60k. The St/Sc and PWD are excluded from paying the tuition fees so it's less for them.

I pay around 40k per semester here, which roughly translates to 80k+ a year. This is for people like me who have family income less than 1 LPA. Usually students spend 1 lacs per semester if they belong from the general category or family income greater than 8 lacs. I've applied for NSP Scholarship and through that, I receive an amount of 20k per year
